Yesterday we looked at the question of “how long did God take to create?” We learned that day in Genesis one means, well, day—a twenty-four-hour day! And the book of Exodus confirms that.

In Exodus 20, when God gave Moses the Ten Commandments, he said, “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day.” Exodus confirms—God created in just six days! And that’s why we have a seven-day week. Our week isn’t millions of years long because God created over millions of years. It’s seven days because God created in six days and rested for one.

Yes, God created in six days.

Some Christians claim that we can’t know how long it took for God to create. Yes, the Bible says God created in six days but we can’t know how long those days were. But is that true?

No—not at all! You see, we can know what a word means by the context. And whenever the Hebrew word “yom” is used it always means a twenty-four-hour day when used with a number or the words evening, morning, or night. And Genesis one has all of those!

It’s obvious that day means day. The idea that the days were long periods of time doesn’t come from the Bible—it comes from man’s ideas about the past!

Let’s start with God’s word not man’s ideas!

Back in the nineteenth century the evolutionist Ernst Haeckel published drawings of embryos of several different species. He claimed these drawings showed how embryos pass through different evolutionary stages like a fish stage or a reptile stage as they grow. He convinced a lot of people that embryo development proves evolution.

But it was later shown that these drawings were frauds! Haeckel had purposefully drawn the embryos to look more similar than they are. It’s been known for a long time that these drawings were fraudulent—and yet you’ll still find them in textbooks!

Yes, it’s a fraud has remained an icon of evolution!

Have you ever heard of the peppered moth? It’s a supposed example of evolution often used in biology classrooms.

Here’s the story in many textbooks: Before the Industrial Revolution, birds saw and then ate more of the dark variety of peppered moths sitting on tree trunks. Then, as pollution increased, they saw more of the light ones, and the population shifted to mostly dark moths. Then, as pollution declined, it shifted back to light moths again. It’s…evolution in action?

No, it’s just an example of natural selection. The variety of moth color from dark to light was already there—nothing new was added!

This week we’re looking at icons of evolution. And one of those icons is the supposed driving force of evolution—mutations, mistakes in our DNA. Now most mutations are very harmful and cause disease and death. Some go unnoticed.

Only a select few are beneficial and only under very specific conditions. Now these few sort-of beneficial mistakes can’t account for the remarkable variety and intricacy we see in creation. And they don’t create brand-new functional information—and you need that for evolution to occur!

Mutations just corrupt already existing information.

Natural selection is one of the icons of evolution with examples of natural selection, like Darwin’s finches, given as “proof” of evolution. Now, these finches have different-sized beaks, allowing them to eat different foods. So evolutionists will say, “See, we’re observing evolution.”

But what they’re really observing is small changes within a kind. You see, the genetic information to produce different beak sizes is already there. It’s built into the finches’ DNA. For evolution to happen, you’d need brand-new information to produce brand-new features—and certainly that’s never been observed.

Natural selection—it’s not evolution.

Open a high school biology textbook and you’ll probably find Darwin’s finches given as proof of evolution. And why? Well, there are different species of finches on the Galápagos Islands. Textbooks say finches, through natural selection and mutations, became different species with different sized beaks.

What evolutionists call natural selection is just a sorting out of the information already present in the DNA of finches. What were they? Finches. What are they? Finches. What will they be? Finches. This is not evolution.

The information for the variation in beak size was already present in the finch DNA.

All this week we’ve looked at a fossil find of a young tyrannosaur with some drumsticks in its stomach. But what creature did it eat?

Well, the articles reporting on the find said this tyrannosaur’s final meal was two baby dinosaurs. But if you read the article carefully you’d see these baby “dinosaurs” were described as “birdlike.” Wait—birdlike dinosaurs?

Well, we see that phrase a lot. And it usually means what the scientists have discovered is a bird—yes, a birdlike bird.

The evolutionary worldview assumes birds are dinosaurs, but we know birds are, well, birds, created by God on day five.

This week we’ve been looking at a recent find of a fossil tyrannosaur with some drumsticks in its stomach. Now this fossil must’ve been formed after sin because God originally created everything to be vegetarian. So Christians who try to add millions of years into the fossil record have a big problem here!

You see, if that tyrannosaur fossil was laid down millions of years before Adam and Eve sinned, you have death before sin and animal carnivory in God’s “very good” creation—a creation in which God specifically said animals were vegetarian.

You simply can’t consistently add millions of years into the Bible.

Yesterday we discussed a neat fossil find of a young tyrannosaur fossilized with its final meal in its stomach. But why do we have fossils?

Well, most people think of fossils in terms of millions of years. But the Bible’s history explains why we have billions of fossils all around the world—including incredibly preserved fossils, like this tyrannosaur.

You see, the Bible tells us that over four thousand years ago, God sent a global flood as a judgment on mankind’s sin. That catastrophic flood would’ve buried billions of creatures quickly, preserving them as fossils.

Yes, fossils are a reminder of God’s flood judgment in Noah’s day.
