Apron Work Podcast

In this week's episode, we had the pleasure of interviewing professional wrestler "The Suplex Assassin" Alex Kane. Less than two months removed from winning the MLW National Openweight Championship and announcing the formation of the Bomaye Fight Club, we speak to him about how fast everything has been coming together in what can still be considered the infancy of his career. We cover what it felt like to win the championship at 2300 Arena, what he sees for the future of the Bomaye Fight Club, the story behind how he came up with "The Suplex Assassin" moniker, and so many other things. And we end out the show with Carlos geeking out with him about video games as they talk about what kind of games he's into and what's he's been playing as of late.

In this week's New Year's special episode (only about a week late), we take a look back at the wrestling world over the past year, especially since Apron Work Podcast had made its revival. We say goodbye to an old friend, Walton, who has officially left the podcast leaving Carlos and Respass as the only co-hosts of the show. Respass discusses his trip to Joppa, Maryland, to see the last MCW show at MCW Arena and his upcoming trip to North Carolina to see AEW's Battle of the Belts. We also touched on the Tony Kahn/Big Swole controversy, and Carlos spoils AEW Dynamite for Respass, who had yet to see it. And we announce our next interview, which is coming sooner than you would think.

In this week's episode, we decided to spread a little bit of holiday cheer by looking into some of the best gifts to get that wrestling fan in your life (even if that fan is yourself). We look into some of the best gifts we have ever received that fit into the wrestling category, look at some cool things available to buy now, and even suggest what you may want to get someone if you're unsure as Christmas gets closer. Also, after speaking on ROH's Final Battle a little bit, especially what happened with "The Mecca" Brian Johnson, we dig in pretty deep on our feelings about this year's version of AEW's Winter is Coming.

In this week's episode, we review a movie that should be known as an instant Christmas cult classic, Santa's Slay. We discuss the good, the bad, more of the bad, and even more of the bad as we run down what we liked about this movie, as well as what we feel could have been better. Besides Bill Goldberg playing Santa, who is an immaculate conception spawn of Satan, we take our time to acknowledge "The Mecca" Brian Johnson's successful title defense against Moses in a Steel Cage at MCW Season's Beatings. We also talk about the rumors surrounding what seemed to be goodbyes from Kyle O'Reilly and Johnny Gargano on the most recent episode of NXT.

Disclaimer: If you have not seen Santa's Slay yet, it is currently free on Peacock, so check it out to avoid any spoilers.

In this week's episode, we had the pleasure of interviewing professional wrestler "The Mecca" Brian Johnson. Less than a week away from defending his MCW Heavyweight Championship against Moses in a Steel Cage at Season's Beatings on December 4th and a little over a week away from challenging Josh Woods for the ROH Pure Championship at Final Battle on December 11th, we pick his brain about both of those matches. We discuss the impending hiatus and reimagining of Ring of Honor and what that means for him in the future. We also discuss his Glory By Honor match at 2300 Arena against EC3, take shots at each other's high schools, talk about Philly sports, and his hatred for social media.

In this week's episode, we celebrate Thanksgiving by speaking on what we are thankful for since the return of the Apron Work Podcast and in the wrestling world in general. We take time to thank AEW, a specific match type, AEW, our listeners, AEW, and, of course, each other. Oh, and did we forget AEW? We also find some time to speak on some of the events and happenings in wrestling as of late, some exciting news concerning upcoming potential interviews, and talk in-depth about our feelings on New York, New Jersey, and Bridesburg.

In this week's episode, moments before recording, we were caught off guard by the news of more superstars released by WWE and covered the WWE 2K22 news of the return of GM Mode. Then we got to our topic, which correlates to the recent release of the second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home and the unconfirmed rumors of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield being in the film. We used this to talk about unconfirmed wrestling rumors that have led to unfair judgment or disappointment, such as not seeing Windham Rotunda debut at the Full Gear PPV. And we take a deeper look at a misinterpreted tweet by Hurricane Helms where he suggests that wrestling fans would enjoy wrestling more by not investing in the "behind the scenes" rumor mill.

In this week's episode, we take a look at the upcoming AEW Full Gear. But before we got to the PPV, we gushed over the Blue Meanie using our video of him at the MLW taping (and giving us credit!) and then talked about the recent releases in WWE, where they may go, and the impact the releases had on the wrestling world. After we got that off our chests, we went match by match with our predictions, including Walton's through text and what we will expect to see out of them. We end things by talking about any surprise appearances we hope or think we will see by the end of Full Gear.

In this week's episode, we discuss the recent announcement that Ring of Honor Wrestling will release all of their talents from their contracts at the end of 2021 and reconceptualize the company (whatever that means). We look into the possible causes, how to turn it around to thrive again, the good that may result from the releases, and if this will ultimately spell the end for Ring of Honor.

In this week's episode, we talk about our experience of attending the 2-Year AEW Dynamite Anniversary at The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA. Well. Only Respass and Carlos discussed it since Walton wasn't there (or even on this episode). We give a rundown of how we felt about the night from beginning to end. We react to the atmosphere, the card, the matches taped for Dark: Elevation and Rampage, Respass never getting his soda, and the best chant of the night being removed unceremoniously from Rampage.
