  • Three Ways You’re Sabotaging Your Productivity

You can read a million books or articles on productivity. You probably won't implement most of it. Not because it's bad advice, but because you have three major blocks in place. Listen in to learn how to neutralize these root causes for staying stuck in exhaustion, brain fog and innovation jail.

    1. Start practicing good sleep hygiene. Sleep resets your system, detoxifies the body and keeps hormones in balance.
  • Eat well (Just Eat Real Food) and take the supplements you need to offset the ways you've depleted yourself.
  • Move more. Movement sends oxygen and nutrients to your body, eliminates toxins and waste and deescalates the stress response.

  • Reframing Practice: Interview with Tim Hawk

Your career is not a set it and forget it thing. It's also not a recipe you follow. Architect and Educator Tim Hawk tells us why you need to constantly reinvent yourself, take on heart-led opportunities, align your passion with what people need, and embrace diversity by surrounding yourself with different perspectives.

    1. Think more broadly about your career possibilities instead of accepting what's offered and making the best of it.
  • Reinvent yourself every five years. Embrace your personal evolution and align your career path with it.
  • When in doubt, go with your heart. Doing what you love gives you energy and passion that you can apply to all the other stuff (which will get figured out even if you don't prioritize it).
  • Make room for other people by getting out of the way. Let others rise into tasks you've outgrown.
  • It's easy to get placed within a frame around colleagues who know you. Step outside of your frame by working in a different context where you are able to be more than what the people who know you see.
  • Design for what people need and align your passion with that.

  • Are you More Afraid of Failure or Success?

Can you actually be success intolerant? Yeppers. This can happen subconsciously. You think you want to be successful, but fear the unchartered territory of who that version of you will be.  Let me be your sherpa and help you navigate your internal and external success obstacles.

    1. We all have a success setpoint. When we start to move to the upper limits of that, we feel more and more uncomfortable and stop taking action that builds forward momentum.
  • You can fear being successful will mean you no longer fit in with your current groups of friends/family/coworkers and not know how to seek out a new more expansive and supportive network.
  • You can fear that success is too much work and not sustainable. Realize that success equals more resources which allow you to uplevel your energy. Far from being exhausting, success is energizing.
  • You can fear being seen as an imposter. Far from being a fraud, sharing what you know - even if you are just one or two steps along the path- can help others get to where you are.

  • Can You Have High Confidence AND Low Self-esteem?

No way do confident people have low self-esteem, right?  Except... maybe you do. No one talks about the way this seeming paradox happens or how it holds you back in life and work. Let's shine the flashlight into that dark corner of your psyche so you can break the self sabotage cycle starting now.

SIGN UP FOR STRESSLESS SUCCESS VACATION LIFE WORKSHOP

    1. Confidence is outward facing, based on observable abilities. You get feedback through achievements. You are comfortable with your skills and can adapt them to the needs of the situation, aren't afraid of failure, are willing to ask for help and empower others.
  • Self-esteem in inward facing and tied to your feelings of worthiness. It's based on things we were taught and conclusions we drew from life experiences. These become cemented into beliefs about what we need to do to earn love or acceptance.
  • You can use high confidence in a negative way to protect yourself from feelings of low self-esteem. This shows up as a constant quest to be of service instead of taking action aligned with what you really want or need.
  • Learn to embrace the fact that you intrinsically have value, without needing to prove anything.
  • Catch negative thoughts related to low self-esteem and replace them with facts around your areas of confidence.

  • Deconstructing Process: How to Navigate the Hybrid Workplace

Let's get philosophical- what does it mean to be present?  How do you collaborate and lead when not everyone is in the room while leveraging the value of face to face interaction with those that are? How do we create an equitable collaborative experience?  Why should we even bother going back to an office at all? This episode explores how we can retool old project processes for a hybrid work world.

    1. Maintaining connectivity is your new superpower.  You get there by being organized, flexible and able to develop skills in yourself and others.
  • Polished is so 2019. Do it messy is the new way it's done. How well can you improvise and authentically communicate?
  • Without our senses to provide cues about mood, approachability or availability to be interrupted, we have to consciously communicate boundaries to one another.
  • The way you did it doesn't work. But why you did it still might.  Retool your processes to focus on what essential results you need, instead of making clunky virtual adaptations to the same old stuff.
  • Welcome to the wondrous world of asynchronous collaboration. Embrace it. There's gold in there.

  • Bye Bye Overwhelm: 5 Foolproof Strategies

Overwhelmed much? Working harder and harder to try and catch up only to feel further behind and more exhausted? This new normal is taking way too much of a toll. Listen in for my strategies to stop overwhelm in its tracks.

SIGN UP FOR YOUR VACATION LIFE WORKSHOP

    1. Pressure to perform without feeling you have any ability to change the circumstances is root cause of your overwhelm. Reexamine your own beliefs about what you have to commit to doing and how much effort you need to apply.
  • Getting it done doesn't make you a hero (even though you  may become addicted to that rush of adrenaline). Stop to think about why this is important to you, instead of feeling obligated to meet expectations.
  • When you reframe the story, you can stop catastrophizing in the moment.
  • Say no to things you don't absolutely need or want to do. Exercise boundaries around your commitments to avoid overperforming. Delegate what you can. Reassign as many tasks as possible. Zoom out and identify the critical outcome needed. Throw any extra work overboard.

  • Your Career is Costing too Much

Feeling resigned that your life and work are as good as they can get? I'm here to sound the alarm! The cost of that "good enough" life is one you can't afford. This episode will help you see the extravagant waste of resources (time, energy, money) living a status quo life really is.

SIGN UP FOR YOUR VACATION LIFE WORKSHOP

    1. Your dream life is possible if you are willing to commit to a continuous improvement process.
  • Raise your consciousness to what's possible instead of letting fears and limitations run the show.
  • When you create a strong center point of feeling great about your life, you attract high energy people and experiences into it.
  • Staying stuck comes with way too high a price.
  • Being in the present instead of limiting yourself by the past or worrying about the future.
  • You write the story of your life based on how you feel in every moment.
  • Energy comes from doing what you love.

  • ”I’m Too Busy” is Code for ”That’s Not My Priority”

Everything you do sends a message. A message about your commitment to making an impact, ability to be agile, willingness to do more than what's in your job description. So while you're hiding behind your busyness, the unintended message you send to those around you is that being a leader isn't a priority for you.

    1. Stop using your workload as an excuse to defer your personal development. Someday is not a date on the calendar- it's a can you keep kicking down the road.
  • Don't worry about how you'll get it all done. When you take on growth and development opportunities, you build your skill set so it's actually easier to get your other work done.
  • Next time you're about to bow out of an opportunity, substitute the reason for saying no for the words "that's not my priority." Feel into that and if it's true, then say no. But f it's not, find a way to make it happen.
  • Stop calibrating your career to minimum standards of performance. Instead, go for what's best practice. Ask yourself if someone who has a career you'd love to have would take on a growth opportunity like what you're being served up.
  • Never take opportunities for granted. If you commit, show up and be engaged.
