Zaruhi Galystan is an Armenian-American character designer who is most well known for her work on Coco,Luca Pixar and her Wood-burning crafts.
In this podcast, we talked about Zar’s life as the first generation of Armenian immigrant to the USA, and how she got into animation. Zar also gives great tips about her process of character designing and the inspirations behind Coco. Her attention to detail and patterns and moreover her passion for wood burning and creating handmade artworks.
Last but not least Zar talks about her idea of putting her art into a good cause for helping the Armenian community by creating “Animators for Armenia”.

Torsten Shrank is a German character designer who has contributed in several animated feature films, TV-Series, commercials and games worldwide. He is best known for his work on Klause (The SPA Studios), Small Foot and many more.
In this podcast we talked about Torsten’s life back in Berlin, how he got into animation, some nostalgic animations such as "Bolek and Lolek”. Later how he got his first job as an animator and then his training with Borja Montoro. Claire Keane is an illustrator and visual development artist who contributed to the Disney films such as Enchanted, Tangled and Frozen. She currently published her 3rd illustrated book "Little Wonder" that is NOW available to purchase.
In this episode we talked about growing up in an artsy family (her dad is legendary Disney Animator Glen Keane and grandad is Bill Keane), Claire’s ambitions to become a singer to a turning point in her life where she studied in France, learning about fashion and graphic design until she finally went back to do visual development and worked on Disney’s Rapunzel (Tangled).
We talked about all the inspiration behind that movie for concept and character design and her sketchbook and versatility in styles, her fine art paintings and last but not least the illustrated children's book and all the personal inspirations behind them.
For all the superheroes mums and women out there we also discussed about keeping the balance between personal and work life after becoming a mum.

Varun Nair is an Indian Visual Development Artist and Director based in France. He graduated from the Gobelins school of Image in Paris and has worked for several companies in the Animation industry including Netflix, Sony pictures animation, Bluesky, etc to name a few. Currently, he is a Co-director and Visual development artist at Illumination.
In this episode we talked about Varun’s journey in India where he painted religious art to how he made connection with French community and then moving to Paris. Carter Goodrich is an award-winning LA based character designer, illustrator best known for his covers for New Yorker Magazine. Carter has worked with numerous well-known animation companies on classical movies such as Prince of Egypt, Sinbad to big companies like PIXAR, Dreamworks ,Sony, on movies such as Ratatouille, Brave, Open Season, Hotel Transylvania, The Croods, Coco, and Despicable Me to name a few.
In addition to his character design work, Carter has written and illustrated seven award winning children’s books for Simon & Schuster pub.
In this episode Carter talks about his artistic background, working as an illustrator for New Yorker magazine, how he started to getting into animation industry and working in Dreamworks alongside Nicolas Marlet and Carlos Grangel. Tips about character design and also about illustrating children’s book. Last but not least we talked about his upcoming projects.

Juan Pablo Zaramella is an Argentinean director and animator, mostly well-known for his comedy Stop Motion and Pixilation. His short films has won more than 500 awards all over the world.
In this episode Juan talks about the process of his works and finding ideas, sound designing, how he loves to explore diverse style in animation from 2D animation to the realm of stop motion like Claymation and Pixilation.

Richey Beckett is a pen and ink illustrator based in rural Wales, mostly known for his intricately detailed linework. He has done many commissions for world's biggest bands such as Metallica, The Doors, Foo Fighters, and Black Sabbath, as well as creating movie posters for TV series such as "Game Of Thrones" and "The Walking Dead".
In this episode we talk about all Richey's lifestyle and journey from growing up in a creative family, having his own metal band and being in music industry to fully dedicating his life to illustration and designing posters and album covers.
Richey gives great tips about getting commissions, licensing and copyright, doing conventions and art shows, and managing the business side of his career. He also points out his love for animation and Ray Harryhausen for the first time in this podcast.
