Sometimes the true trauma is in how our toxic family members, partners and spouses and even adult children, accentuate them, blur them and make us feel worse. In this episode I share a #metoo moment. This podcast is raw. I’m an open book to show how you to need to look at the red flags in front of you, even from those you normally find trust and safety in.

You are not in the back seat of your life. You aren’t bound and set for the kitchen. Wake up and smell the soorj that you make and serve everyone! Switch up this conversation of feminism being something bad. You are your ultimate empowered feminine self when you are treated as equal. Stand up for woman’s rights and call out the sexists. Let’s be an example to our kids of how it’s done with empowerment and equality in the house!

I’ve a got a meme to share with you that really speaks to my heart about how we, as Armenian women, have much improvement to do with regards to empowering. We have a tendency not to hear eachother and instead of uplift and validation for where we are at in our journey, and in our space, we tend to make eachother feel as if we’re not enough, and have to keep up and catch up to US! Stop, hear, validate and connect!

In this episode I’m talking about the recent vandalism by Azeri aggressors on the Armenian school in San Francisco and the sexist graffiti they spat all over it. Sexism has no place anywhere and yet, Armenians who have had ties to backwards Turkish culture, fall into this same trap giving the total wrong impression to our young people. Let’s switch up the conversation about Armenian women and uplift and encourage each other rather than tear it town.

Women are being exploited and experiencing stress on all fronts and my sisters in artsakh are no different! We need to find a way to take care of ourselves even during unprecedented times.

In third episode I examine the dictionary definition of the word empower, and how to apply it daily life. You’ll hear an example of my friend who recently took control of her professional life and empowered herself. Whether it’s a family member, partner or boss, you are not to be yelled at or made to feel less than. They don’t get to do that to you, and if you don’t nip it in the bud, they will always do that which was disempowering to your soul, over and over again.

Unbelievably ugly when our own brothers and sisters disparage and attack our teachers! Teaching has long been gendered work by women, and when we hate on them and show no support for female teachers and leadership, we are being the most disempowering we can possibly be. I’m a teacher and let me tell you, this has been one hell of a week being witness to online vitriol against Armenian teachers and leadership. We’re better than this! We’ve got to show our support and community cooperation with our schools reopening online. We’ve got to call it out and stop the bs in its tracks especially during the world pandemic!

How do you empower yourself? In this episode I discuss the importance of staying empowered and how I go about empowering myself each day. Just like exercising our bodies, we need to keep our mind fit so that we stay mentally fit reminding us of our worth every day!

Special Father’s Day segment for those moms that do it all! I know how hard today can be still having to deal with your child’s dad, and some dads don’t deserve that role yet we still take the high road. Let’s give praise to how well Armenian moms get the job of two parents done and done well!
