While we had some pains, we did have lessons learned that will helpfully help you.  Here are our tips: 

1. Is it a reputable organization. Make sure who you are working with is a reputable company and review its competitors.  Julie had a bad experience but the Licensing Expo was a great one.

2. Know your goals. Evaluate what your future looks like to pick the right things to do for you.

3. Evaluate the results. Evaluate anything new you try; and see what works and what doesn't work, then adjust.

4. Focus on 1 thing at a time.

Do you enter competitions and contests: do they help or make you feel like crap?  Julie, Stephanie, and Rachel discuss competitions and contests.  

Bottom line: Comparision is growth, it can be painful, but it is not death when you do it the right way.  Find people you admire and that you trust to help make you better.
