Well it is and in 2020 I think we are all seeing the impact of how are daily lives changing impacts our mental health. Loss of jobs, relationships, and sense of hopelessness are just a few factors that impact our mental health. Another component that many of us are facing is shared trauma! This looks like continuously watching Black People die due to police brutality, seeing the violence done to Trans-Black Women, death due to COVD-19, attacks on immigrations policies, and the list goes on.
Personally, social media has helped me keep in the loop of all that has happened! But it has also been one of the causes of my stress because we are so connected. It is okay to take a break and take a step back.
In this episode we discuss warning signs for suicide and ways social media impacts our mental health.

This week I had the pleasure of interviewing one of my good friends Johnathan J. Azar on As I Was Saying... Podcast. We spoke about his first book 100 Days on Earth and dived into some of his most popular pieces in the book. We also touched on the relationship between faith and pain and how our individual culture and experiences many times manifest in our work.
Inspired by the pantheon of poets from the Middle East and beyond, Johnathan J. Azar assumes a philosophical posture as he approaches themes such as faith, struggle, and purpose through poetry. He first published his debut poetry collection, "100 Days on Earth" in July 2019 and launched it at New York City Poetry Festival. Since then, he has been sharing his work via interviews, signings, and charity events.

Heyyyyy!!
So if you are on social media you know you have seen the conversations that have been popping up! Between Kanye, Meg, and the usual COVID-19 topics due to our countries lack of response. I decided to weigh in on the conversation because I think it is very important we start having these convos more often. Not just when celebrities are at the center...but hey, maybe it is a good start.

So I have been hearing people talk a goos amount about "normal" and I am here to say...there is no more normal. In fact we should not want whatever normal is, because who was normal serving anyway?

This week we interviewed Jackie who is the Founder of Modern Melanin Mom! We were able to talk about motherhood as a whole and talk open and honestly about Black Motherhood.
This conversation was intentionally unedited and honest because this topic especially within recent times is important. As someone who wants to have children in the future I felt this conversation was necessary and I loved the casual vibe me and Jackie had.
