As We Digress

After a long hiatus, we're back with a vengeance -- we get into recent news, stocks, and a little bit of conspiracy stuff because why not? We talk about the recent surge in GameStop stock and how volatile stocks are in general. One of the biggest bits in music news surrounds Marilyn Manson -- Badon's favorite artist -- and his numerous abuse allegations. This leads us to discuss the separation of art from the artist. We even touch on fate, karma, computers, college, and new jobs.

We continue from our conversation last week about aliens with “Childhood’s End”; an Arthur C. Clarke novel about the invasion of a seemingly peaceful alien race. David takes a sharp detour and brings up Badon’s 23andMe results. AWD talks about the advancements that come with societal progress. We then have a long conversation about student loans and how colleges/universities scam their student body.

The AWD crew is wearing headphones for the first time and is trying to get used to them. Nuno brings up 90 Day Fiancé and Badon tells the group about a few popular couples on the show. Then we have some gaming, space, and monolith talk; this leads us to discussing the aftermath of a hypothetical impact on a several-mile wide comet.

This is a haunting filled episode of As We Digress. We talk about Bryan’s past experiences and how such experiences can affect how we interact with the world. Badon talks his irrational fear of “The Nun”. We then talk about film adaptations of video games and how horribly they’re often received. Badon gets a bit passionate about The Girl in the Spider’s Web and Silent Hill.

This week on AWD, we start off talking about "American Murder: The Family Next Door" the Netflix documentary; the mind of Chris Watts and how people's analysis of body language gives insight into a person's feelings. The case also brought up an interesting topic of consideration in a relationship; how our treatment of our partner affects them. Badon then brings up "Carmel" another Netflix documentary that covers the mysterious murder of Maria Marta Garcia Belsunce. And then we discuss the destruction of modern cinema. We finish up this week's pod with a talk on "The Keepers" and Netflix's constant attempts to screw us over.

As We Digress is back yet again, and we're back for good! We talk about the 2020 election (considering we recorded this on November 4th) and the popular arguments used against candidates. We then have a bit of fun and talk about some crazy conspiracies and Jared Leto's cult. As I write this, our new president has been chosen. To the listeners of this podcast, readers of this bio, and all the rest...please be respectful to one another. Whether your candidate won, or your candidate lost, let's just be good to one another. Let's not breed more hate and discourse.

This week we got together to talk about our top five favorite movies that involved a pandemic/contagion/disease. After our lists, we finish the episode with some conversation on books we’ve read including a messed up autobiography that Badon read about a victim of abuse who wanted to tell their no-holds-barred story.

We've returned from another hiatus more motivated than ever. Badon and David talk about their cancelled trip to Japan and their plans to become chess masters. Badon then talks about another tale of woe as a dishwasher involving his cursing out of a chef which leads to him trying to recruit Nuno as a coworker. Bryan tells us about how he's been writing his new EP and we ponder the idea of designing merch. David talks about becoming a Twitch streamer so look out for him in the future. And next week, we're gonna have another "Top 5 Movies" podcast; top five favorite disease/contagion related films.

We’re back from our hiatus — for now — to record our first episode in a several weeks. It’s a quarantine edition of AWD and the four of us are on Discord chatting on our webcams. We talk about the global pandemic we’re currently dealing with, politics and the election, and Tiger King. We also talk about Santa Claus and the surprising tradition of “Black Pete” and question how it still exists.

For anyone reading this summary, be aware that this episode is a tough one. Badon brings up a couple podcasts that he just listened to: “Up and Vanished” and “Truth and Lies Jeffrey Epstein”. The first about the Georgia cold case of Tara Grinstead and the second pod about the eponymous sexual predator. Badon and Bryan tell our co-hosts about Gabriel Fernandez and the vicious abuse he suffered at the hands of his parents.
