Ashley Van-Veen is a 27-year-old woman from Baltimore, Maryland. She is originally from Guyana, South America, however, she has lived in the US most of her life. She is the creator of Bankable Facts on Instagram, which she started as a means to provide financial literacy for her followers. Her biggest financial achievements include becoming a homeowner at age 24, and paying off an auto loan for a brand-new car in less than one year, all while making less than 6 figures as a respiratory therapist. Presently, she is balancing building wealth for the future and living bountifully in the present. She is an avid reader and a minimalist. Her money philosophy is this: “Your financial life should be simple and unembellished. Spare the sophistication for your style and table manners”. Her money philosophy simply means that building wealth should be a linear journey which can be accomplished by: eliminating debt, establishing a safety net fund in case of unemployment or temporary disability, reducing taxable income by investing in tax sheltered accounts first, then investing in non-tax sheltered accounts, buying the best insurance products to protect assets, and helping others realize their financial goals. Ashley aspires to one day be the first millionaire in her family.
