In this episode we visited Avebury.  Here are the sentences we used: Avebury ist bekannt durch seinen Steinkreis.  Avebury is known for its stone circle.  Es ist einer der gößten Steinkreise Großbritanniens und die Steine sind Stonehenge sehr ähnlich. It is one of the largest stone circles in Britain and the stones are very similar to Stonehenge. Es gibt aber Unterschiede. But there are differences.  Die Steine sind nicht so dicht zusammen wie bei Stonehenge und man kann kostenlos um sie herumgehen. The stones are not as close together as in Stonehenge and you can walk around them for free. Die Steine von Avebury sind das einzige Monument, durch das man durchfahren kann.  The stones of Avebury are the only monument you can drive through.

In this episode we looked at the first verses of Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht and O Tannenbaum and we looked at the literal translation and the English version of the songs.  In this episode Steven and I talked about the Kennet and Avon Canal, especially about the locks near Devizes.  Here are the sentences again: Der Kennet-und-Avon-Kanal ist ein Narrowboat-Kanal in Südengland. The Kennet and Avon Canal is a narrowboat canal in southern England. Es ist ein 140 km langer Kanal,  der die Flüsse Avon und Kennet verbindet  und eine Schifffahrtsverbindung von Bristol nach London bietet. It’s a 140 km (87 miles) long canal, that connects the rivers Avon and Kennet, and provides a shipping link from Bristol to London. Der Kanal hat 104 Schleusen. The canal has 104 locks. 29 Schleusen sind in der Nähe von Devizes. 29 locks are near Devizes. Davon sind 16 ganz dicht zusammen. Of those 16 are very close together.  Diese Schleusentreppe heißt die ‚Caen Hill Locks‘. This flight of locks is called the ‘Caen Hill Locks’. Wenn Sie Glück haben, können Sie beobachten, wie die Narrowboats sich durch die Schleusen navigieren. If you're lucky you can watch how the narrowboats navigate through the locks.

Laut Legende hatten Schmuggler ihre Alkoholfässer im Crammer Teich versteckt, damit die Steuereintreiber sie nicht finden. Als die Schmuggler die Fässer mit ihren Rechen wieder herausholen wollten, kam ein Steuereintreiber vorbei und fragte, was sie da täten. Es war Vollmond und die Schmuggler machten weiter, mit ihren Rechen im Wasser zu harken und sagten:   „Wir wollen den Mond aus dem Wasser holen!“  Der Steuereintreiber verspottete sie als Bauerntrampel, und die ‚Bauerntrampel‘ hatten das letzte Lachen!
