Noelle Norton, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of San Diego, joined "At the Edge of it All" to talk about what inspired her to get into higher education, the misconceptions surrounding a decline in people getting a humanities degree and how a liberal arts education can help enrich students' lives beyond the classroom.

Darby Vickers, assistant professor of philosophy, sat down with the "At the Edge of it All" team to talk about her expertise on artificial intelligence -- from how she stays on top of the ever-changing field to what needs to be considered when regulating the industry as a whole. Vickers also shares the top three ways she thinks A.I. is affecting all of us today.

Bridget Frese, clinical associate professor of nursing at USD, joined "At the Edge of It All" to talk about her passion for the nursing field, and some of the mental health struggles nurses have faced in recent years. For Frese, the concept of self-care goes beyond the superficial. She talks about how she uses meditation to get her mind right, and also, as a recording artist, how creativity can be therapeutic and help strengthen her mind.

Kristin Moran, associate dean and professor of communication at the University of San Diego, joined the "At the Edge of it All" team to talk about how she got interested in the communication field, what she's seen change (and also stay the same) in our media world and how we can look at social media use with a balanced mindset, seeing both the pros and cons.

Cawa Tran, assistant professor of biology at USD, joined "At the Edge of It All" to share her inspiring story - how her educational journey helped her discover her passion for the sea, and learn invaluable lessons about herself along the way. She also explains her work to better understand coral reefs, and how these organisms play a crucial role in our ocean's ecosystem.

Amanda Petersen, PhD, profesora de español y decana asociada en la Universidad de San Diego, se unió a Al Borde de Todo para hablar sobre su pasión por el idioma español y la cultura latinoamericana. "At the Edge of it All" was joined by Amanda Petersen, Professor of Spanish and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies at USD, who talked about her passion for the Spanish language and Latin American culture. She explains how her work goes beyond what many might consider traditional "literature" and how she's blending her passions to examine important issues like gender violence and women's studies.

On a mass scale and at a micro level, people everywhere are working to create a more environmentally-sustainable world. “At the Edge of it All” spoke to John Alejandro, Director of Sustainability at USD, about his work on a college campus, and some of the challenges the sustainability field faces more broadly. He also talks about what we, as individuals, can do to make a difference, including some tips for sustainable holiday gift-giving.

David Karp, Director of the Center for Restorative Justice at USD, joined "At the Edge of it All" to talk about the growing movement to reshape how we right a wrong. He explains what restorative justice is and why that system may better serve victims of a crime or wrongdoing. Karp also just launched a master's program at USD focused on restorative justice -- one of the few of its kind in the country.

Eric Pierson, co-director of film studies at USD, joined "At the Edge of It All" to discuss the state of cinema, and some of his favorite movies. He talks about why he thinks popcorn flicks deserve just as much a place in our culture as prestige films -- and what he likes about each of them -- and why going to a crowded movie theater can be an experience unlike any other.
