Auckland Transport is beefing up security on its public transport services, following a spate of attacks on bus drivers.

It says Transport Officers will now be onboard buses on busy routes, and some will be patrolling inner city stops and stations.

Auckland Transport says some passengers have been "bullying" their way onto buses without paying.
