The Rift Between Undiagnosed and Diagnosed ADHD—Why a Diagnosis Can Be Life-Changing
AUDHD ME & MO Podcast
In this episode, I want to help you make a life-changing decision about getting an ADHD diagnosis. There’s often a huge gap between those who are undiagnosed and those who have clarity through diagnosis. If you’re on the fence, this episode is for you.
Think of your thoughts like students rushing into a nightclub, all trying to squeeze through a single narrow door—that’s your brain. Before diagnosis, the chaos feels overwhelming. But after diagnosis, those students, those thoughts, suddenly organize or even disappear, making it easier to manage life.
If you’re considering a diagnosis, here are a few steps to guide you:
1. Family Clues – If your child has been diagnosed, there’s a strong chance that one of the parents has ADHD too. Ask your family about medical history, past accidents (such as brain injuries), and other relevant details. In my case, my ex handed me a printed PDF outlining common ADHD traits, and it immediately clicked—I knew I had to get diagnosed.
2. Workplace Insights – Your colleagues might notice certain patterns in your behavior. With ADHD awareness growing, people around you may recognize signs even before you do.
3. New Perspectives – This podcast might help you see things differently. If you need an extra push, my book The Thirteen Hour Life Coach dives deeper into the journey and could be the motivation you need.
