"With his cool, cool flattop. Yeah, cool, cool, cool flattop. Hey, cool, cool, cool flattop. Oh, cooooolllll, yeah, cool! Be mine, with the cool flattop." -Kool Flattop by the Horrorpops
Jesus Christ...really? Really?!?
As shocking as this might be to all of you, Chris and Matt are not exactly perfect. I know. Shocking. Because like attracts like, in this episode, Chris and Matt are going to discuss those almost perfect albums, just one great song after another, and then you get to it. You get to THAT song. The song that is just an abomination in the ears of God and man. The song that was dead on arrival. The song that isn't good enough to be labeled "filler". Ugh. This is an upsetting episode. (Not really. Chris and Matt don't take themselves seriously. Neither should you.)
No artist is safe. No band is protected. No album is immune. Chris and Matt are going to slay some sacred cows, and they're going to bring to your attention the times someone should have really thought better about their track listing.
Did you honestly expect a Spotify playlist for this episode of horrors? Chris and Matt aren't that cruel.
Thank you for listening, and we hope you enjoy the episode!
"We're gonna get revenge. You won't know what hit you. We're tired of being screwed. Revenge! REVENGE!" Revenge by Black Flag
We know what you're asking yourself right now, "What in the crap does Black Flag's Revenge have to do with documentaries?" More than you know, fearless listener, more than you know... (Just go watch Decline of the Western Civilization, because we stink at being cryptic.)
Come join Chris and Matt this episode where they will discuss their favorite documentaries concerning all things rock and/or roll. From Satan to homemade guitars to recording consoles to Fire Brigade Unions to Motown to junkies to session players to puppet shows, your hosts of the Audio Arcana Podcast will cover all of these items and a whole lot more that we're currently forgetting to mention. But seriously, look at that list of topics above. That's solid. You're definitely getting your money's worth out of this episode.

"Yeah, and the boss said, 'LP, Singles, Picture Cover or plain? I've got all the hits and all the big names." C30, C60, C90, GO! by Bow Wow Wow
Now, we are aware that Annabella Lwin and Bow Wow Wow were singing specifically about cassettes. It doesn't matter. Taken out of context with the remainder of the song it perfectly describes Record Store Day...and Matthew Ashman may or may not be responsible for Chris' love of Gretsch guitars. Well, Matthew Ashman and Brian Setzer. Anyhow.
It's that time of year for record collectors to either rejoice or gnash their teeth. That's right, Record Store Day is almost upon us all for 2021. To celebrate, Chris and Matt will present to you both the pros and the cons of Record Store Day. Hey, nothing's perfect, right? Additionally, at no added charge to you, they will also let you know what albums they are most excited about, and they're sure you were just dying to know.
Thanks for listening, and we hope you enjoy the episode!

No lyrics, no Spinal Tap references, no dad jokes...we got business to take care of.
This episode Chris and Matt have the distinct pleasure of speaking with and interviewing Mr. Ivan de Prume. From Matt's perfect introduction:
"Ivan is best known for his work with the seminal band White Zombie. This includes the multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated album La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Volume 1, an album that both Chris and I agree is one of the greatest metal albums of all time. Ivan has stayed busy with several projects throughout the years including a weekly radio show called Metalopolis on Rock 101 KUFO FM in Portland, Oregon, his former band Healer which combined world music rhythms and melodies with heavy riffing, and his current groove-metal band Big News whose latest release The Lowdown can be found now on bignewspdx.bandcamp.com and iTunes. Beyond drumming, Ivan is also an accomplished producer and engineer at his own
studio, Burningsound Studios where he has worked with artists such as KMFDM, Megadeth, and Prong. Yes, Prong…..and no I did not take Tommy Victor’s wallet that night at The Whisky. Ivan’s studio site can be found at burningsoundstudios.com."
WARNING: Heads-up, the internet decided to not cooperate at the beginning of the interview, so this episode starts just a few minutes after we started speaking with Ivan. The rest of the interview is just fine. You'll enjoy listening to Ivan's stories. The dude is awesome. Chris and Matt ruin everything.

"Pictures came and broke your heart, put the blame on VCR." Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles
The Buggles kind of remind us that Chris and Matt should do an episode devoted to their favorite one hit wonders. It also cracks Chris and Matt up to hear something referencing VCR technology as some type of cutting edge futuristic gadgetry, but there's probably not much to discuss about that for an episode. Anyhow...
This week's episode is directly inspired by a video that Rick Beato posted on his YouTube channel. You should take a gander. It's a great video: https://youtu.be/8emalPh3iKc
So Chris and Matt decided it would probably be a super idea to do their own lists of the YouTube videos that bring them no end of joy. Do they have the same type of insightful and meaningful discussion as Rick Beato does in the above video? Of course not. Well, not unless you consider Chris prattling on about "the heavyweight champion of riffs" or Matt's "Dude, you can totally see his fake fingertips." as "insightful".

"There goes my hero. He's ordinary." -My Hero by the Foo Fighters
Strangely enough, this quote actually works for this episode. Sometimes Chris and Matt just throw in the first song lyric they think of at the beginning of the episode details. Sometimes they use whatever song lyric is stuck in their head. Sometimes they use whatever song lyric makes them laugh like the couple of juvenile delinquents that they are at heart. But this time? Well, this time it actually works. Thanks for that, Dave Grohl.
Come join your friends at the Audio Arcana Podcast as they discuss their most memorable encounters with musicians that they admire. Yes, you already know some of these stories, whether they're good or bad encounters, are going to be complete train wrecks. It's what your fearless hosts do. They ruin stuff. Seriously, they do.
WARNING: This is episode 20. Chris and Matt thought they should celebrate this minor achievement. Chris and Matt have all kinds of bad ideas. Celebrating 20 episodes? With drinking? On an empty stomach? Yessir, this is one of those bad ideas, and oh man, the 20/20 hindsight on this one was quite the swift kick in the arse. Chris, strangely enough, doesn't curse as much as he normally does. Matt? Matt cuts loose in this one. Matt gives you drunken wisdom and insights galore, celebrity impersonations you never knew you wanted to hear, and personal reflections that seemed like a really good idea at the time of recording. Chris thinks Matt is a got-damn genius in this episode.

There is also a very special guest this episode who gives their valuable insight on modern music that Chris and Matt often overlook.

"I'm in love with rock 'n' roll, it satisfies my soul. That's how it has to be, I won't get mad." Rock 'n' Roll by Motörhead
Straight to the point and nothing but the truth. Thank you, Lemmy.
Let's be honest, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has gotten a lot of things right, BUT man, when they screw up, they do so in a staggering fashion. Are they screwing with us on purpose? Are they secretly run by 16 year old internet trolls? Do they take business advice from FIFA?
While Chris and Matt don't have the answers to those pressing questions, they DO have the answers for how they would correct the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's grievous errors on behalf of rock 'n' roll fans around the world. Well, rock 'n' roll fans that agree with Chris and Matt. You should probably give this episode a listen to see how close to correct you are with your opinions.
Matt also teaches Chris a new word, and it's very impressive.
WARNING: Chris is very passionate about these artists, AND he was drinking while recording. He throws out F bombs like he was getting paid for them. Seriously. When Chris heard the episode, he was surprised at how much he cursed throughout the episode, and that's saying something. You should absolutely listen to this episode in private or with headphones on. We're not kidding, people.

"Red sister might be chokin', but I ain't about that kind. Answer me with the rhythm of a body that was born to lose two times." Revolve by The Melvins
Chris had a plan for the introductory lyrics for this episode...and then Matt mentioned The Melvin's Stoner Witch. Guess what Chris has been listening to for a week straight? So do these lyrics have a single thing to do with this episode's content? Sure. Why not.
Chris's and Matt's opinions on music are basically just facts. As with any of the hard sciences, those facts may slightly alter over time with new evidence presented, so come join your friends at the Audio Arcana Podcast as they scientifically approach albums that they might not have gotten their facts right on the first listen. I wonder if Chris and Matt can be nominated for some kind of scientific award for their commitment to research? Sure. Why not.

"I've always wanted to smash a guitar over someone's head. You just can't do that with a piano." -Elton John
Could we have picked a quote that more closely correlates to this week's episode? Yeah, probably so, but still, this is a pretty damn good quote. We're leaving it because we're not sure if we'll ever have the opportunity to use it.
Besides being a preferred weapon of piano players around the world, guitars are also universally loved for the variety of tones you can get from them. You can give 12 different guitar players the same guitar and amplifier and get 12 unique sounds every time. Everyone has their favorites, and Chris and Matt are going to get deep into theirs on this weeks episode of the Audio Arcana Podcast. It's that simple. Matt also has an amazing story about being chased by earth moving equipment. Seriously, he was chased by bulldozers and excavators and the like. Chris just has some questions for California concerning their methodology of naming cities.
