    Confession

    The confession is said privately. The audio file begins after confession.

    Most merciful God,
    we confess that we have sinned against you
    in thought, word, and deed,
    by what we have done,
    and by what we have left undone.
    We have not loved you with our whole heart;
    we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
    We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
    For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
    have mercy on us and forgive us;
    that we may delight in your will,
    and walk in your ways,
    to the glory of your Name. Amen.

    A brief silence is kept
    Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    O come, let us sing to the Lord;*
    let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
    Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving*
    and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

    AllO Lord, make haste to help us.

    Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

    The following Psalms are read

    Psalm 50:1–15

    50   The Mighty One, God the LORD,    speaks and summons the earth    from the rising of the sun to its setting.2   Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,    God shines forth.

    3   Our God comes; he does not keep silence;    before him is a devouring fire,    around him a mighty tempest.4   He calls to the heavens above    and to the earth, that he may judge his people:5   “Gather to me my faithful ones,    who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”6   The heavens declare his righteousness,    for God himself is judge! Selah

    7   “Hear, O my people, and I will speak;    O Israel, I will testify against you.    I am God, your God.8   Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you;    your burnt offerings are continually before me.9   I will not accept a bull from your house    or goats from your folds.10   For every beast of the forest is mine,    the cattle on a thousand hills.11   I know all the birds of the hills,    and all that moves in the field is mine.

    12   “If I were hungry, I would not tell you,    for the world and its fullness are mine.13   Do I eat the flesh of bulls    or drink the blood of goats?14   Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,    and perform your vows to the Most High,15   and call upon me in the day of trouble;    I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
    Psalm 94

    94   O LORD, God of vengeance,    O God of vengeance, shine forth!2   Rise up, O judge of the earth;    repay to the proud what they deserve!3   O LORD, how long shall the wicked,    how long shall the wicked exult?4   They pour out their arrogant words;    all the evildoers boast.5   They crush your people, O LORD,    and afflict your heritage.6   They kill the widow and the sojourner,    and murder the fatherless;7   and they say, “The LORD does not see;    the God of Jacob does not perceive.”

    8   Understand, O dullest of the people!    Fools, when will you be wise?9   He who planted the ear, does he not hear?

    Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, *

    When I kept silent, my bones wasted away *

    For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; *
    my strength was dried up as in the heat of summer.

    Then I acknowledged my sin to you, *
    and I did not cover up my iniquity;

    I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” *
    and you forgave me the guilt of my sin.

    Therefore let everyone who is godly *
    offer prayer to you at the time when you may be found;

    Surely in the rush of great waters, *
    they shall not reach him.

    You are my hiding place;
    you preserve me from trouble; *
    you surround me with songs of deliverance.

    Psalm 15O LORD, who may dwell in your tabernacle? *
    Who may abide on your holy hill?

    He who walks with integrity and does what is righteous *
    and speaks truth in his heart;

    He who does not slander with his tongue
    and does no evil to his neighbor, *
    nor casts slurs against his fellow man;

    In whose eyes a vile person is despised, *
    but who honors those who fear the LORD;
    who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change;

    Who lends his money without interest
    and does not take a bribe against the innocent. *
    He who does these things shall never be shaken.
    CompositePsalm 104

    104   Bless the LORD, O my soul!    O LORD my God, you are very great!  You are clothed with splendor and majesty,2     covering yourself with light as with a garment,    stretching out the heavens like a tent.3   He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters;  he makes the clouds his chariot;    he rides on the wings of the wind;4   he makes his messengers winds,    his ministers a flaming fire.

    5   He set the earth on its foundations,    so that it should never be moved.6   You covered it with the deep as with a garment;    the waters stood above the mountains.7   At your rebuke they fled;    at the sound of your thunder they took to flight.8   The mountains rose, the valleys sank down    to the place that you appointed for them.9   You set a boundary that they may not pass,    so that they might not again cover the earth.

    10   You make springs gush forth in the valleys;    they flow between the hills;11   they give drink to every beast of the field;    the wild donkeys quench their thirst.12   Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell;    they sing among the branches.13   From your lofty abode you water the mountains;    the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.

    14   You cause the grass to grow for the livestock    and plants for man to cultivate,  that he may bring forth food from the earth15     and wine to gladden the heart of man,  oil to make his face shine    and bread to strengthen man’s heart.

    16   The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly,    the cedars of Lebanon that...

    Psalm 85
    Psalm 71

    OfficiantO God, make speed to save us.
    AllO Lord, make haste to help us.

    Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

    The following Psalms are read

    Psalm 85You have been favorable to our land, O LORD; *
    you have restored the fortunes of Jacob.

    You have forgiven the iniquity of your people *
    and covered all their sin.

    You have withdrawn all your fury *
    and turned away from your burning anger.

    Restore us again, O God of our salvation, *
    and put away your anger toward us!

    Will you be angry with us forever? *
    Will you prolong your anger to all generations?

    Will you not revive us again, *
    that your people may rejoice in you?

    Show us your faithful love, O LORD, *
    and grant us your salvation.

    Let me hear what God the LORD is saying, *
    for he will speak peace to his people, his saints;
    but let them not turn back to folly.

    Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him; *
    that glory may dwell in our land.

    Steadfast love and faithfulness meet together; *
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.

    Faithfulness springs up from the ground, *
    and righteousness looks down from heaven.

    Indeed, the LORD will give what is good, *
    and our land will yield its increase.

    Righteousness goes before him *
    and will make his footsteps into our pathway.

    CompositePsalm 71

    71   In you, O LORD, do I take refuge;    let me never be put to shame!2   In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me;    incline your ear to me, and save me!3   Be to me a rock of refuge,    to which I may continually come;  you have given the command to save me,    for you are my rock and my fortress.

    4   Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,    from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man.5   For you, O Lord, are my hope,    my trust, O LORD, from my youth.6   Upon you I have leaned from before my birth;    you are he who took me from my mother’s womb.  My praise is continually of you.

    7   I have been as a portent to many,    but you are my strong refuge.8   My mouth is filled with your praise,    and with your glory all the day.9   Do not cast me off in the time of old age;    forsake me not when my strength is spent.10   For my enemies speak concerning me;    those who watch for my life consult together11   and say,

    Confession

    The confession is said privately. The audio file begins after confession.

    Most merciful God,
    we confess that we have sinned against you
    in thought, word, and deed,
    by what we have done,
    and by what we have left undone.
    We have not loved you with our whole heart;
    we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
    We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
    For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
    have mercy on us and forgive us;
    that we may delight in your will,
    and walk in your ways,
    to the glory of your Name. Amen.

    A brief silence is kept
    Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    Invitatory
    O = Officiant

    OLord, open our lips.
    AAnd our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

    OO God, make speed to save us.
    AO Lord, make haste to help us.

    Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

    VenitePsalm 95:1-7; 96:9,13
    O come, let us sing to the Lord;*
    let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
    Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving*
    and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

    For the Lord is a great God,*
    and a great King above all gods.
    In his hand are the caverns of the earth,*
    and the heights of the hills are his also.
    The sea is his, for he made it,*
    and his hands have molded the dry land.

    O come, let us worship and bow down,*
    and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
    For he is our God,*
    and we are the people of his pasture
    and the sheep of his hand.

    O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;*
    let the whole earth stand in awe of him.
    For he comes, for he comes to judge the earth*
    and with righteousness to judge the world
    and the peoples in his faithfulness.
