In this episode of Ready to Retail, we visit our community series, which this week has a Focus on supporting communities when disaster happens.
With a presence in communities right across Australia, and through our partnership with Australian Red Cross, we are proud to be able to use our retail network and our digital channels to help raise much needed funds to support those impacted and recovering from Australian Disasters. Last year, we helped raise more than $1.2M in over the counter donations, for Australian Red Cross Disaster Response and Recovery Fund adding to a combined total of $1.4M (via Workplace Giving and direct online donations from our website), which helped provide immediate on-the-ground support to Australian communities affected by disaster.
In this community series, you will hear from Amber Collins, Chief Marketing Officer about why we support disaster response, how we do it and what we want our people to know about us in relation to disaster. We also speak with Colin Sivalingum Red Cross State Emergency Services Manager for Queensland to really understand the importance of providing humanitarian aid when disaster happens and what our partnership means. You will also have the opportunity to hear from Sandy Davis, Parndana Post Office Manager on Kangaroo Island, on what it’s like when disaster happens, how the post office and community bands together, the importance of the post office as a part of the impacted community and the support they offer for community.
Customers can donate over the counter to Australian Red Cross Disaster Response and Recovery fund through their local participating Post Office till the end of January
