THE LIES HAVE GONE ON TOO LONG! Chubs The Addict refutes and destroys the essay on page 30 of the 2016 Conference Agenda Report entitled, "NA Literature and Our Primary Purpose".  Every assertion Chubs makes is documented, and every World Board falsehood exposed. Chubs reads and quotes from WSC minutes and the 1991 court transcripts rather than just making passing reference to them.  These are very minutes and court proceedings the NAWS World Board vaguely references with every new bulletin, essay, and memo. The actual documentation is laid bare in this audio with links made available for all to see with their own eyes.  In Chubs' own words, "Treat me like a liar, and read it for yourself!"

FACTS

1. The First Edition Basic Text removed wording from Traditions 4 & 9 without going back to the Groups.

2. The Fellowship demanded the wording be returned, resulting in the Second Edition.

3. A 60 day "emergency vote" removed the wording once again.

4. The Fourth Edition resulted in a deep edit and removed lines from the Basic Text. It did not go back to the Groups for approval.

5. The Fifth Edition simply re-inserted the missing lines and was created on the conference floor without going back to the Groups.

6. A moratorium was placed on any further changes to the Basic Text for a minimum of five years.

~Originally published May 17, 2015~ A voice mail left for Chubs by Billy A (yes, that Billy A)  spawns a podcast.  Chubs explains why not only all authority rests with the Home Groups, but why the answer to the problems we face as a Fellowship can only be found at the Home Group level.  

A service structure with unchecked power will not be fixed by creating other structures with the same inherent problems - It can only be fixed by focusing on the Group; by Groups directing all services and being responsible for carrying that message.  Only when service bodies are created by Groups who are invested in the full responsibility of carrying the message in their local communities will we have services that do not self-create, that do not steal money from the Groups via sale of the Group literature, and that are responsible to the Groups rather than depending on a "diverse mix of revenue streams" which remove the need of direct Fellowship support or any accountability.

We will only be free of the tyranny of effective leadership prevalent at the World Level when we truly believe Group Service is the most important and only indispensable level of service. In other words: when we stop paying an office to do our service work for us.

Chubs makes an impassioned plea to those who would send letters to institutions in an effort to stop H&I committees & Home Groups from supplying them with free Basic Texts.  

This is a good episode to direct anyone to who thinks it's a good idea to deny addicts access to our literature based solely on memos from the World Board or conversations with NAWS/WSO Fellowship Services.

Non-confrontational, yet hard-hitting and emotional, Chubs poses simple, yet probing questions and pleads for peace and unity in a time when "common" sense seems to be increasingly uncommon.  This episode will leave one hard-pressed to argue in favor of denying our message to the addict who still suffers.

If you find yourself experiencing contempt without the facts (memos are not facts), challenge yourself to listen for a half hour with an open mind.  If you don't feel compelled to look into the facts further, do research beyond reading one-sided bulletins, or at least allow others to carry our message free of charge (live and let live) you will only be out 28 and a half minutes of your time.

These are common questions among addicts new to the Traditionalist movement, sometimes even if they are long time members of the Fellowship.  Many times a simple post on a message board is not enough to explain these things.  In this podcast Chubs goes "Back To Basics" and answers these questions with the history of how each of these came about and what the relation between them is.

If you have been wondering about some of the terminology you see on old school/Traditionalist message boards or that you have heard in these podcasts, this is an excellent place to get those questions answered.  This is also a good podcast to have someone listen to who is asking you these questions, as it covers not only the basics, but puts the answers into their historical context.

In this episode Chubs takes on the historical differences in thought processes of a "spiritual" vs "corporate" NA and the competing ideals of "a Fellowship with an office" or "an office with a fellowship".
