The vote was unanimous - the Old Dominion University Board of Visitors voted Dr. Brian Hemphill as the 9th president of ODU, replacing retiring president John Broderick. Dr. Hemphill officially took office on July 1 of this year and is the first African American president in the University's 91-year history.
