  • Avenue Red Podcast #129 - Cathy Daniëls
We are proud to present a mix from a long-time friend of Avenue Red, Berlin-based Cathy Daniëls. Originally from The Netherlands, Cathy moved to Berlin to live the dream of pursuing her musical passions in a city that is widely regarded as the epicentre of underground electronic music. Respect for that! She is half of the duo Catoune with the excellent fellow Dutch DJ/producer Andrea Cichecki and is also a member of the Catharsis collective in Berlin.
This mix glides smoothly through some zoned-out, druggy, trippy, mysterious house and techno records, all mixed perfectly by this master connoisseur of a DJ.
"I recorded the mix with mostly new records I bought that same day. The records I selected for this mix are a typical representation of what I am playing these days." Cathy Daniëls, May 2019

  • Avenue Red Podcast #128.1 - Liepu Saloj
Lithuanian DJ Liepu Saloj is back with another feast of deep, mesmerising techno, house, breaks, electro and IDM sounds for Avenue Red. This guy has real talent we feel, he is a masterful selector, the mixing is tight as hell and always very creative in the flow. Example: check how he twists so smoothly from sublime, beautiful melodic gear into some intense, nefarious, clubbier sounds at around 1:14:00-ish. Take us to a dark warehouse already! ;)

  • Avenue Red Podcast #128 - Liepu Saloj
This Avenue Red Podcast is a fan mail mix! Here we present Liepu Saloj from Vilnius, Lithuania - a regular name in our comments sections on SoundCloud and long-time supporter of our music. He sent over 2 mixes and both impressed us. A glowing example of the tasteful guys and girls who are tuned in! Cold, hard, trippy, slow techno here... keep an eye out for the next podcast number 128.1, also by Liepu Saloj, which is something quite different but of equal quality to what we have here.

  • Avenue Red Podcast #127 - Waage
For this next Avenue Red Podcast episode we are keeping the Icelandic connection strong as we present the new Reykjavik wonderkid known as Waage.
Known for his strongly Basic Channel/Maurizio-influenced EP's, simply titled W and W² and released on Thor's Thule imprint and Exos' X/OZ label respectively, this mix follows suit along those deep, dubbed-out techno lines. However, Kristjan assures us that there are some surprises around the corner with his forthcoming releases, with some totally new ideas and sounds and a collaboration with fellow Icelandic artist/DJ COLD, who did our 118th episode. At the request of the DJ, we will leave it there! But one last thing... Happy Birthday Mr. Waage! ;)
"No words... I'll let the music talk for me." Kristjan Thor Waage, 3rd April 2019

  • Avenue Red Podcast #126 - M.S.
For Avenue Red Podcast 126 we welcome Michael Sieler AKA M.S. from the super cool and quirky city of Portland, Oregon near the west coast of the USA. Michael is a very keen eclectic music collector and DJ whom we discovered via his awesome deep/dub techno selections on his SoundCloud page. It seems that he has elevated his game even higher than usual for this one... an absorbing, soothing, spaced-out 80-minute trip crafted exclusively for us lucky Avenue Red folks.
"A couple years ago, I was at the coast with some friends. After a late night of dancing and partying, I remember we all went to the beach (at the location seen in the artwork for this podcast) to watch the sun rise. You could hear the sound of the ocean, the calm waves splashing, and the trickle of the tide as it rolled in and out.
It was chilly but beautiful. The sounds of dub techno fit perfectly as the rising sun began to warm our bodies and wake us to the new day. This mix recaptures that moment, takes us back in time to that morning on the beach listening to some melodic dub techno." Michael Sieler, 2019

  • Avenue Red Podcast #125 - Alessandro Crimi
Avenue Red legend Alessandro Crimi is back to show us his new ways and visions in deep swinging techy house and breaks. We think he has conjured one of his hottest selections to date here. Is this Crimi 2.0?
"Finally I was able to record my first mix in 2019. I put together all kinds of music that I currently like and listen to. My intention was to record a mix that is not restricted to 1 genre, but still everything gels together well. Pretty sure this accomplishes that, with some nice Spring time vibes." • Avenue Red Podcast #124 - Potswana
Potswana is London-based record collector/DJ Sam Potter, whose new mix was sent to AR-HQ on strong recommendation of the ever-trustworthy Mancunian, Rikki Humphrey (@slickyrik). Oddly, Sam and Avenue Red founder Alec Pritchard found through their discussions that both hail from and grew up in the City of Gloucester... that's a first!
For Avenue Red Podcast episode 124 Sam has laid down a raw and real mix of 90's house & garage records full of classics along with some more obscure, unknown and forgotten selections.
"It's simply a collection of records I've been building for a while and have been waiting for an opportunity to set up camp one evening and record what's there. It was made at home on a Friday night after work, two 1210's, an Allen & Heath mixer, a few beers and a 4 month old kitten who was trying to mix the records for me!
I wanted to create a late night club vibe that'll get the party started. I never like to plan mixes, so as always this began with one record on the needle and what followed is a spontaneous collection of some of my favourite cuts. It's a mix of 90's deep house, rare 00's tech-house, some late-night rollers and a couple of garage-y thumpers all aimed at keeping the energy flowing." Sam Potter, March 2019

  • Avenue Red Podcast #123 - Farbian
For the 123rd Avenue Red Podcast we welcome Farbian from Stuck Collective, Berlin. Also including fellow Avenue Red guest Torsten Brinkman, Stuck Collective is formed of three German lads who started to play music together 5 years ago. After finding themselves having some chemistry as a trio, they made their moves to put on some awesome parties and have their own podcast series with a unique interpretation of proper underground House and Techno music. Avenue Red founder Alec Pritchard recently contributed to their series too.
Here Farbian has concocted, iced, shaken and poured out a perfect cocktail of intoxicating tech house, deep garagey house and some herbal lo-fi ingredients, making for a great soundtrack for the emergence of the warmer spring weather.
"I live in Berlin and can be caught sporadically around serveral underground parties in the city. My mix contains a lot of varied stuff coming from artists who are very important and influential for me, including obvious kings like Kerri Chandler, but also stuff from some of my favourite labels of all time like KANN from Leipzig, or the excellent London-based label Lobster Theremin.
The records from labels like Chikyu-u Records and Neo Violence e.g. are also very typical selections for me, because I love to dig quite unknown Soundcloud and Bandcamp artists and labels with dubby and housey touches, which need to get more attention in my opinion. I'm here to help with that :)" Farbian, February 2019

  • Avenue Red Podcast #122 - Verdant Recordings
Andy Green AKA Verdant Recordings is back with his 6th contribution for Avenue Red, delivering a perfect pastel-coloured selection of soothing, introspective, spacey dub techno vibes.
We are pleased to see his Verdant Recordings label is building up a head of steam, as just before the turn of the new year we saw the arrival of its 6th release, a 2 x 12" compilation LP simple titled Verdant (link below). It features some of the true gods of the deeper side of techno, including Bluetrain AKA Steve O'Sullivan, Leonid, Gauss and XDB among others.

  • Avenue Red Podcast #121 - Mist
Our deepness correspondent over in Athens, Greece known as Mist returns for his third Avenue Red contribution with a mind-blowing, soul-melting ambient selection of Jupiter-sized proportions.
Don't expect to ever get over it if you choose to open this pandoras box, which to truly do so, start-to-finish listening is required. If you do take the full voyage, this mix will make you feel like you have visited dozens of fascinating, advanced civilisations in the deepest regions of the universe in some kind of (opaquely) rationally ordered sequence, then been returned home... safely enlightened.
