  • Avenue Red 1210 Mk2 - Graham Pitt
The second Avenue Red 1210 episode comes from Nottingham-based DJ and general house music purveyor Graham Pitt, who has been a vinyl junkie for over 20 years and now runs online music blog Dream Drums. We noticed that he is responsible for a steady stream of online output with his own high-quality selections and some interesting underground guests featured. Graham has his own Dream Drums show every Sunday at 15:00 (GMT) on www.deepvibes.co.uk and is also a resident at Hull-meets-Chicago house label Freche Früchte for their mixshows on Deepvibes Radio and SceenFM.
The mix is saturated in deep, percussive, jacking 90's house flavour from a list of artists and labels who always struggled to disappoint. We even have a twist of deep acid from Bobby Konders, a nice 'n' spacey disco-tinged groove in the form of a Faze Action dub of D*Note and also a rare, swinging deep 4/4 oddity from a Musique Tropique reinterpretation of Two Lone Swordsmen. Nagual's "Feel The Rhythm" on Prescription is an absolute killer tune that may remind you of a better known version by Ron Trent that was later released on the label on an EP titled "The Nature Of Retribution". A very expensive record these days that is in dire need of a repress we feel.
Another thing... can anyone ID the 11th track with the "Is it sex or is it love?" vocal sample? Graham believes it may be a Lil Louis release but we have been unable to verify this. Drop a comment with the details if you know the ID! Enjoy the mix, and please follow us and share it on!

  • Avenue Red Podcast #005 - Red D
The fifth instalment of the vinyl-only Avenue Red Podcast series comes from Belgian vinyl-junkie, veteran DJ and label owner Bart Van Neste, better known to most people as Red D, whose stunning RA podcast released 2 years ago is still very fresh in our mind.
He set up his We Play House imprint in 2008, initially to release the music of fellow Belgian https://soundcloud.com/san-soda, who was at the time a relatively unknown young talent, and from there it has developed into a very successful house label, purveying some quality records from the likes of Reggie Dokes, Maxim Lany, Russ Gabriel, Dynamodyse, Raoul Lambert, James Teej and many more.
This selection from Red D is very much a colourful mixture of varied house music, full of sweetly melodic moments, warm basslines, depth, soul and delicious beats 'n' grooves... exactly the kind of music that Avenue Red embraces. We hope you love it as much as we do!

  • Avenue Red Podcast #004 - DJ Nav
Avenue Red Podcast 004 is a one-take vinyl-exclusive mix from DJ Nav (real name Naveen Rajan), a burgeoning and highly adept DJ/Producer from Washington DC. He caught our ear with his unique blend of raw 90's-influenced house music, which is at times rugged, other times smooth and sublime... but always high in quality and taste.
With upcoming bookings in his hometown of Washington DC and also Brooklyn, Nav has pressings out on The Love Revolution (NYC) and https://soundcloud.com/hands-off-recordings (Denmark) with his release being the follow-up to an excellent Rick Wade EP. Also in the pipeline he has releases coming out on https://soundcloud.com/madefreshdaily (Scotland), https://soundcloud.com/silenceinmetropolis (Washington DC) and is on remix duty for a forthcoming Golf Clap EP on https://soundcloud.com/294records (Brazil), with Scott Diaz doing the other remix. Lot's happening with this lad and clearly going places in the underground, so keep a check on him!
It's time to press the download button now... this one is for the heads that like to keep it real with some deep, soulful house with some old skool 90's flava. Get into this!

  • Avenue Red Podcast #003 - Dudley Strangeways B2B Michael McLardy
The third instalment of the Avenue Red podcast is a 3 hour-long back-to-back session from Nottingham duo Dudley Strangeways and Michael McLardy, two established stalwarts of the UK deep house/tech house circuit. Both are prolific producers and remixers as well as DJ's, both with a tall release history steeped in quality on heavyweight labels such as Back To You, Klasse, HOLIC TRAX, Resopal Schallware and Black Key among many others.
This year Michael launched his own imprint, Left Wing, as a platform to push his own vision of deep electronic music with a strong focus on house & techno forms. Also to be launched in January next year is a vinyl-only label called Leftback, which will be used exclusively as a vehicle for the duos own productions.
We think this live, one-take, vinyl-only recording is a real monster selection and well worth a solid 3 hours of your time if house & techno music is in your veins. Lock yourself in a quiet room and take a heavy hit of the good stuff!

  • Avenue Red Podcast #002 - Alec Pritchard
Avenue Red Podcast 002 continues the theme of strictly vinyl-only DJ sets from the underground world of house and techno. Newcastle-based DJ Alec Pritchard delivers 1 hour 15 of deep, trippy groove-laden records with his usual sway across different periods in time, playing from the front of the crate to the back.
Age is not a factor with music that is truly timeless. This mix is as Alec describes "A patchwork quilt of 4/4 headphone candy for the mind, body and soul - not strictly a dancefloor thing, but is full of grooves and rhythmic energy, but also melody and deeper elements!". Enjoy the mix, keep it deep, keep it underground!

  • Avenue Red 1210 Mk1 - Alec Pritchard
@alecpritchard brings the first installment of a new series of Avenue Red "1210" podcasts, named after the famed but sadly discontinued DJ weapon of choice - Technics 1210 turntables.
With a focus on DJ'ing from the surface of vinyl, the concept is that 12 records are played with every record being at least 10 years old, uprooting some forgotten and unheard sounds from the expansive world of house and techno music.
For this opening episode, Alec pays homage to his deep house roots with a murky and mysterious brew of house records from around the globe. Château Flight's clear-acetate pressing of "Prism" twinkles and shimmers with twee percussion and chords before Ladyvipb (AKA Maurice Fulton) touches down with a deep, shimmering Nu Disco track with odd-yet-interesting production.
Slow, deep house rhythms simmer in the mix and Natureboy's track keeps it raw, soulful and original with a cut from an early-days 7-track EP from 1993, produced by the man now known as DJ Nature. San Francisco house boss DJ Rasoul (AKA Guy Nado) reminds us of his darker, groovier elements before leading us into a bumpty lost-and-found track from Nottingham stalwart Nail (one half of Bent).
DJ D's balmy summer vibes glow like embers over scattered African drums until Vancouver tech house legend Jay Tripwire tips up with the "Deep Rumbler". A few maverick tracks rub together to bring the mix to a melodic and colourful end. Enjoy the mix people, keep it deep, keep it underground!
