Hockey fans were looking forward to this one. Two of the leagues top teams squared off for the first time this season and it did not dissapoint.

We expected a physical and skillful game and that is exactly what the Colorado Avalanche and Calgary Flames offered. Regulation wasn't enough, but less than a minute into the OT session, the Flames got one past Pavel Francouz and left Denver with a 4-3 win.

The Avalanche had their chances, but missed on some of them that could have put the game away. The good news is Calgary will be back in Colorado in a week for the Avs to extract some revenge.

Samuel Girard simply did not play well. And he hasn't played well over the last several weeks. But is that enough for the Avs to move on from him? The fan base seems to think so. Chris and Kyle, not so much.
