  • #242: Joey and Myles Take Your Questions Before Returning to the Letterboxd Game

For episode 242, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for more of those very soon. This episode features more of your questions, which leads us into a few different discussions. We talk about the Saw news, where Blumhouse is taking over shepherding that franchise, as well as the 28 minutes I saw of 28 Years Later. Then, we're returning to Myles' Letterboxd game, featuring Tom Cruise movies. There's even a bonus game at the end that's an old fan favorite...

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 242nd one to date (here’s to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. • #241: Palme d'Or Results, Cannes 2025, and 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning'

For episode 241, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for that soon. This is a Cannes results episode, as the 2025 Cannes Film Festival is now in the books. We look at all of the prizes from the fest, from the Palme d'Or on down, while speculating on which movies could be potential Oscar contenders down the line. Myles has seen Friendship (reviewed by yours truly here) and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (reviewed here), so we discuss those in fully detail than when I had seen them initially (we also ranked the Mission: Impossible franchise, following my list here). Plus, I chime in on Bring Her Back (review here), which I charitably did not care for. We recorded fairly late, so we kept it on the shorter side. Still, it's a quality episode...

For episode 240, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for that soon. This is a Cannes centric episode, as the 2025 Cannes Film Festival is currently going on. We look at the contenders this year for the Palme d'Or, including Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme, which I've recently scene. Myles and I also name our favorite Palme winners, as well as go back to previous Cannes to name what would have been our picks for the prize. There's also questions from you the listener, as well as Myles getting into the Final Destination franchise, having seen Final Destination: Bloodlines. There's lots here, making for a good episode, if I do say so myself...

For episode 239, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for that soon. This time around, the focus is on Tom Cruise and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, which I saw earlier on in the week. My review can be found here, so definitely check that out. We talk a bunch about that film, while also setting the stage for more to come. In addition, we bring back an old movie game that we haven't played in some time. It's not our longest episode, but it's a very solid one, if I do say so myself...

For episode 238, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for that soon. This week, Myles has seen Thunderbolts*, which is one of our main topics. My review of the film is here, so be sure to check that out as well. We also get into the Golden Globes adding a Podcast category, so, you know...maybe we'll be nominated? Plus, I've seen and fallen for The Life of Chuck, so there's a bit of raving about that one. For episode 237, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for that soon. This particular episode is Marvel centric, as Myles and I do a bracket game deciding the best of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. My updated ranking of the MCU drops tomorrow, now that Thunderbolts* is coming out. My review of the film is here, so be sure to check that out. Myles has seen Sinners again (my rave review is still here), so we chat about that movie a bit, as well as answer your questions, as per the usual...

For episode 236, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for that soon. This time around, we have two main components to the episode. We get into the new Oscar rules from the Academy, as well as debate a pair of new releases. One is Sinners (my rave review is here), now that Myles has seen it. The other is the second season so far of The Last of Us. Sinners, we're both absolutely over the moon for. The Last of Us? Well, not so much, as you'll find out. My take is here, particularly in light of what the series just depicted...

For episode 234, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for that soon. This episode has us catching up on all of your questions from last week, as well as this week, which allows us to get into a number of topics. One of the major ones is the news of a new Oscar category in Best Stunt Design, which comes as this season introduces Best Achievement in Casting. I wrote about these new categories here, but Myles and I get into it as well. We also talk about The Last of Us, as we get set to recap the episodes of the second season starting next week. Plus, I've seen and loved Sinners (my rave review is here), so I'm getting Myles pumped for that one. It's an enjoyable episode, so please do dive right in...

There’s also a chat about video games based on movies, piggybacking off of last week’s episode. Then, I preview my year in advance Oscar predictions, which you’ll be able to see tomorrow in all of their sure to be wrong glory. Throw in some trailer talk and we had plenty to gab about, so much so that we forgot to do your questions, but we’ll do a super-sized question section next week…

For episode 233, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski behind the scenes preparing for Emmys and a new season of TV Topics, so look out for that soon. This episode is our long awaited video game movie ranking, which we do in a March Madness style bracket! Which film emerges victorious? You may be able to guess, though the Final Four is actually pretty wild. Kudos to Myles for putting together a unique list that led to some fun comparisons. In addition to some questions, we also talk about several new/upcoming releases, including The Accountant 2, Death of a Unicorn, Eric Larue (reviewed here), Freaky Tales, Friendship, Novocaine (reviewed here), and A Working Man (reviewed here).
