  • Alex Brueckman - Making Biz Better

Once you become the company leader, you are no longer in charge of delivering and producing. You're in charge of coming up with a vision and a strategy that will benefit everyone in your organization. As a leader, learn how to empower those around you and develop that unique vision. Join us in our conversation with Alex Brueckmann to discuss how to find your business vision and foundation. Alex is an entrepreneur, author, and executive coach who specializes in strategy. In Europe and Canada, he created and scaled businesses. He assisted brands and enterprises in achieving significant success. Listen to this episode so that you may begin planning your strategy so you can approach your business in a way that will benefit as we do on this show.

Why should we listen to you?

    [08:23]

I don't believe in speaking solely for the sake of saying. I'd be more interested in asking questions and learning more about your life. And perhaps there is some value in that talk for you, and I can assist you in finding certain things through a series of questions. Coaches do exactly that.

How did you venture into the realm of business?

    [09:22]

I'm a trained and educated radio journalist. I designed many radio shows and oversaw the news editing team at a radio station, a very different ballgame. However, I recognized at some point that I don't fully understand the world around me. And this is essentially how the business world works. A lot of corporate decisions also have an impact on how politics operates. So I went into business school and began working for one of the world's largest media companies, but this time in the business sector rather than the content producer space. And it was in that atmosphere. I spotted the opportunity from one of the CEOs to work as his strategy manager. Attempting to turn around a rather old business unit that was, let's say, remained stuck in the glory days of the past and had not yet made their way into the future. So that's when I realized how important strategy is. It entails preparing your business and organization for future success and mapping out a path to a specific future state that you write down, commonly referred to as your vision.

What are the components that you're thinking of when you start to put together a vision?

    [11:42]

Is it more than just a clever marketing promise. It must be highly understandable, manageable, and measurable. And when you approach the topic of vision, you normally look at it from multiple viewpoints, so let's say you're an entrepreneur, you operate a little business, and you're trying to figure out where it should go in the next. Let's say, two to three years?

    [12:13]

First of all, you must ask yourself, "What is the unique value that I provide to this world that no one else does?" If the value you contribute can address a tangible problem your clients are experiencing, you are already on the correct track. Because if you don't address a real problem in the world that you are uniquely positioned to solve, either you will be replaced or you will eventually run out of clients because there is no demand for what you do.

    [13:15]

There must be passion and intensity in a description that strikes you emotionally, something you truly want to build, something that heats you. Something that includes the people who work with you, so that when you describe where you want this company to go, the people around you say, "Oh, that's pretty, that's very cool." I want to be a part of it. This is something I'd want to see happen.

The Marketing Strategy to Bring People In

    [18:32]

Those strategic categories are broken down into actionable operational topics. And one of them is undoubtedly marketing, since people must be aware of it, and you must inform them that it is all about online marketing. Offline marketing is the way to go. It's all about sales and key account development, and each of these factors plays a part. This is essentially where you put your approach into action. That is what you must do. You must comprehend the strategic buckets on which you must concentrate to move your company toward that ambition. Then you break it down into manageable chunks. Then all you have to do is work and finish it.

    Walking Through the Process

    [19:56]

It has a basic process that I lead them through. Through a framework that I established over time, how the process unfolds varies greatly depending on the maturity level of your firm, its size, whether you're a services company, a product company, or a fully online business. But, at its core, the process aids you in gaining clarity on your method, your mission, and your vision. You can then put the vision down in measurable increments and select which priorities to focus on to get those measurable components closer to the goal.

    [21:58]

I created a document called The Purposeful Strategy Toolkit, which you can access for free by going to my website, Alex, at strategies.com. It's right in front of you. It's the button; click it to download the purposeful strategy toolkit; I'll walk you through it; it's not a three-page nonsense document. This is a functioning document that walks you through it step by step, I believe it's 14 or 15 pages long, with no, no assistance to help you dive into what your business's core is. You set the timeframe based on where you picture your company in the following two or three years. And it truly helps you get to the heart of the matter. It also assists you in prioritizing where you spend your time and money.

How much do you get into the headspace of a person?

    [23:30]

Don't do it if you're not serious about launching a business. It's fairly straightforward. If you've ever been disappointed by someone, you know how horrible it feels. Imagine how horrible it feels when you let yourself down. And if you invest your time and money into something, maybe not completely, but maybe you're the type of guy who says, "Yeah, I have this side hustle going on," but you don't. You're either an entrepreneur or a side hustler. Is this something you're serious about? This is a question you must ask yourself. And when you're honest with yourself, it releases a tremendous amount of energy. If you want to enlist everyone's help, You also have the guts. If you want to pull you all into something. And you have the guts to do that. And your ideas are good. You will be successful.

What promise did God make to the world when He created you?

    [29:14]

I feel that God's only promise to this man is that he can serve as an example to others that careers are not a straight line, that failing and learning and trying again, giving it your all, will lead to a place where you can be happy. Just don't give up. It's over if you quit. Don't give up. Learn from it. Take it as it comes. Make a decent and right decision for yourself. And I believe it is the only guarantee I can make because my life has been a series of failures, retries, and successes.

    Key Quotes:

[25:57-26:04] From time to time, you need to take that step back and flex that muscle and and work through those questions that help you stay the course.

[26:59-27:10] “It's you who decides it's not someone else who does the work for you. So just take it, take what makes sense for you, and apply it and learn as you go.”

  • Emmitt Muckles - The Journey Of One

In this episode, we have Emmitt Muckles on the show. Emmitt is a speaker/corporate trainer, author, and podcaster. Emmitt's goal is to teach others about conscious infinite life, the law of attraction, and the seven universal rules of living. His most recent endeavor is the Billionaire Lifestyle Podcast, in which he interviews conscious creators to help people self-mind coach and feel connected to this life. Emmitt is also the author of The Journey of One, an inspiring story of Markus, a little boy transported through space and time to meet his spirit guide, One, during a horrific incident. Listen as Emmitt shares his personal experiences and visual journey of finding the concepts of living a fully conscious life on our planet.

Why should we listen to you?

    [05:59]

Because I love you, it’s pretty simple. That's all there is to it. If you look at all of the teachings that tell us, and if you look at little kids, they immediately come at each other with love. It makes no difference to them who your parents are. They are unconcerned about your appearance. They may say things like, "You’re little stinky, but let's go play," but they adore each other. And it is to this that we must return. You should do it, and with love comes the knowledge that I am your servant. I'm here to help you with everything you require. Because, and this is where people get it wrong, they believe they must always take something from you, when in fact you must first give something. When you consider all of the world's truly successful people, you'll see that they all give some form of love. And that love looks after them.

Podcast as a Platform to Exercise Your Freedom of Speech

    [09:10]

I podcast because it is also a form of freedom of speech. I can say what I want. And in that, I get to be my authentic self. That is one of the only places that I can genuinely be unguarded and be my authentic self because I can get with that person who might like being is that person who wants to connect, that person who wants to love, that person who wants to share their talents. One of the other reasons I started the podcast is that I realized that there are many people out here with excellent skills, and they don't have a platform or have a hard time finding a platform.

    Connecting with Your Higher Self

    [15:05]

There are two ways. And that's through meditation and prayer. And prayers when you put out what you're seeking, and get and living in gratitude, being thankful for what you have. And meditation is when you listen, it's challenging to do some time because we are disconnected from our source. But once you get it, your life will be like a flower and it will blossom.

    Human Beings are Dynamic

    [21:10]

We are the only creatures that can live in the future that we are aware of. The majority of us are living in the future. So we're already experiencing duality right now. And what I mean by living in the future is that you can not only state what you're going to do tomorrow, but you can also see it.

    A Planet of Learning

    [24:53]

This is a planet of learning on multi-dimensional levels, the physical, the spiritual, the mental, the entertainment of learning from the perspectives of others.

    Key Quotes:

[11:06-11:11] “Sticks and stones may break my bones. But words cannot hurt me.”

[12:38-12:44] “Whatever higher power you ascribe to, get into that because a lot of that information is there.”

[17:22-17:26] “Whatever you do, you can't do any harm, not harm. That's the first thing.”

[19:31-19:40] “Everything that we humans understand is temporary. Yeah. Our pain, our love, our joy is temporary, and it's cyclical. And it goes through its phases. “

  • Brimstone - Living Legend

In today's episode, our guest is Brimstone. This podcast he's part of has three or four million downloads per week; he's a former pro wrestler and an entertainment serial entrepreneur. There's a lot that we're going to unpack, so tune in!

[5:02] Why should we listen to you?

I'm such a wonderful person. I have a lot of energy. I'm not sure what to tell you if you can't find someone with a lot of energy.

    [8:18] Wrestling world

Long Island's voice was prominent, as were sales and marketing. And they had asked me since they knew I enjoyed wrestling. And they say, hey, one of our reporters will do a deal where they'll interview a number of the former wrestlers. And since this convention isn't far away, could you please do us a favor? They were aware that I was interested in photography as well. They lacked in photographers. "Would you go down with them and do some shots?" they asked. Sure, why not? I say. They're paying me.

[9:05] I walked down and, to my surprise, met a lot of folks who became excellent friends later in life. I came up to Iron Sheik, who was about to chat with me, and he looks at me and says, You seem like you could be harassed for pretending to be a wrestler. We start talking back, and his agent at the time, Eric Simms, is who he is. He used to take a lot of images for the boys. He began chatting to me, and what I didn't realize at the time was that he was trying to work with me and get me to do something with Sheik and have Sheik train me.

[10:37] I was flipping through a pro wrestling magazine months later. And sure enough, there was an advertisement for the Long Island Wrestling Federation, the dog house was opening up, and I was thinking, okay, well, this looks interesting.

[12:11] Do you make money in this?

Depending on who you're with and what you're doing, you could make money. It can make a lot of money with the gimmick table.

    [13:55] The brand brimstone

I'm simply a regular man like the rest of them. I'm a little bigger and a little louder. But I'm a person with a personality. I try to be nice to everyone. And I believe that my unapologetic authenticity goes out to others, impacts them, and offers them a reason to follow.

[16:02] I took Brimstone out of the ring, removed all wrestling, and created a comic book based on the character. Brimstone is on the board rounds, the comic book, and I then turned it into kids books, the border pop, so that parents and kids may connect with the same characters.

[17:11] Food hound tidbits were born. In contrast, we were touring with the three seasons of the show. We were a very popular series. I would always bring one of the other celebs with me for the meal. Every everything I do is intertwined.

    [20:44] The next natural progression

We're starting filming for a new television series on the 14th. I am doing it with my son, and it is supposed to go to a major streaming service as of right now.

[23:18] What promise did God make to the world when He created you?

That there would be fun. It would be fun. There would be fun; there would be a good time wherever the hell I go. And I promise you that as myself.

    Key Quotes

[14:39-14:46] "When people are in need, I always feel the need to kind of jump in there and be a part of it and help out and give back."

[19:39-19:40] "Creative people had to be creative."

[20:01-20:09] "I love failure. Failure is what creates and develops the seeds that you use to plant and move forward for success. So you can't have success without having multiple failures."

  • David Strickel - The Tya Practice

In today’s episode, our guest is David Strickel, CEO of David Strickel Media, Bestselling Author, Radio Host, Creator of the TYA Mindset Practice. David receives collective higher consciousness from the Stream, a community of non-physical creatures. Their goal is to connect with individuals drawn to their message and guide them to a higher purpose on this planet, a life of genuine clarity and abundance. Today, he’ll discuss how we may implement TYA into our life to have an awakening and become the best version of ourselves as a result of that experience.

[5:29] Why should we listen to you?

We have repeatedly demonstrated with people worldwide that we can help you transform your life. And by transform, I mean my top three priorities: joy, clarity, and abundance.

[7:24] What does TYA stand for? What is this practice?

My involvement with TYA began with a fundamental knowledge of universal creation, sometimes known as the law of attraction. What about 10 to 15 years ago, when everyone seemed to have found the law of attraction? And I believe that when everyone read it, they were enthralled by it because it reminded them of things in their lives that they were aware they attracted. They were aware that they were in sync with something that had occurred, both good and unpleasant. They began to attempt to be more deliberate with it after that. Many people felt frustrated, and others opted to delve deeper and deeper into its study. As a result, they have become lifetime students of the law of attraction.

[8:41] What was your idea of being able to attract things?

My idea of attracting things was just a hunch, a random thought that came to me. I also had other notions, which I gradually started to grasp as I grew older. Everyone was either not getting these thoughts or wasn’t paying attention to them. And I believe it was the latter. It was drilled into you to pay attention. I grew up with a lot of independence, so I created my operating system. And in some respects, that aided me in some ways; in others, it was a significant barrier, you know, in school and things like that.

    [10:22] What’s the secret?

The secret is simply a book about the law of attraction; it was compiled and packaged beautifully using material from various other teachers. It has now gone on to become one of the most popular books of all time. So, I’m not knocking the book; it’s just that the way it was packaged and presented made it so unique. The concept for me was that the law of attraction is always in effect. It’s similar to gravity.

[10:43] How do we attract things?

I grew up in a disadvantaged family. Growing up, he believed that money was the answer to all problems. I used to think that if I had a lot of money, I would be the happiest person on the planet. When I was old enough, I began to amass the possessions that I had formerly admired in other children. The only problem is that I was so concentrated on getting these worldly possessions that I neglected other elements of my life.

[11:53] I realized that just because you’ve turned 40 doesn’t mean you’ve succeeded. But when you hit 40, you start to evaluate your life, like what’s good about the fact that your life is potentially half over? What will the rest of the story be like? That it isn’t until we reach middle age that we begin to consider these issues seriously.

[12:37] What inspired you to start over?

Someone else who channels influenced me. That other individual made everything a lot less strange for me. Because I’d go to psychics, and they’d tell me that I was a channel through which I could share timeless wisdom. And I thought to myself, “OK, that sounds religious.” And I was reared in a religious household, so I wasn’t interested. I’m not a fan of all the judging, rules, and other nonsense.

[13:22] But there are these recurring themes of clarity, which I’ve begun to weave together. They’re also very logical. They’re also assisting me in a significant way. So I went about correcting my own life, genuinely going deep and paying heed to my inner understanding. I experienced what you term Kundalini awakening, but many people call it that.

    [13:46] What is Kundalini Awakening?

When you enable a connection to what we call source to be realized, kundalini awakening is a discharge of energy in your body. If you haven’t had one yet, don’t go hunting for one. You can’t just walk out and look for it. But it’s something that happens to many individuals. When it does, many people might refer to it as a spiritual awakening. I wasn’t under the influence of anything. I wasn’t taking any form of herbal supplement. I wasn’t at a formal event. I wasn’t conversing with a guru or anything. I was sitting in my family room in a recliner, simply trying to clear my head.

[14:21] Why are you intrigued by this experience?

It has always piqued my interest, but I didn’t feel that the answers were readily available. I had the impression that the answers were hidden within myself. In every aspect, I’m a self-taught individual. When I enter meditation, a great awakening occurs, and an energy discharge occurs at the base of my spine. It’s nearly orgasmic, for lack of a better description, but not in the sense that it’s all over and it electrifies you. That electrification continues to this day. And I refer to what exists beyond the physical as the source of awareness rather than a deity. I don’t believe there is anything wrong with you or anyone’s belief system or whatever you want to call it. I think we all have that consciousness that created the earth and all of us in us. Yeah. And it isn’t necessarily what many people believe it to be.

[15:25] I used that knowledge to improve everything I wanted to change, and one of them was my health. It was about fitness; I weaved in and out of fitness excursions by once weighing over 300 pounds, but now I’m far healthier than I’ve ever been. I was on oxy cotton at the time. I used this to get off of that at one point. I’ve never been a big drug user. However, I was completely reliant on oxy cotton for a year.

[15:50] I used this approach to come off of it without needing to go to rehab or anything. I resonate with all great things like getting out of a job I didn’t like, continuing to generate money and financial prosperity, and finding the love of my life and higher vibrating friends. A precise knowledge of humans, to be sure. So I eventually concluded that I wanted to start teaching it to the rest of the world.

[16:40] How do you deal with those who are critical of your work?

They don’t bother me. Nothing is going to change. A big part of this discipline is about not passing judgment on other people’s pasts. So I don’t try to preach when folks are pounding their heads against the wall, fresh in frustration. I’m doing a podcast about it and talking to folks about it. However, if someone is listening to this, they may believe it is all nonsense or that bs is not for them. That is something with which I am entirely at ease because I respect and appreciate everyone’s route and journey.

[18:19] Did you have any struggle starting?

We have done barely any marketing since we founded the Thai Academy about four years ago. We use social media and other such tools. However, I have a podcast, which most folks who join our programs listen to. To scale this as a business, we must begin marketing. We put this thing out in marketing on Facebook, and the trolling started right away. This individual is a thief and a criminal. I’m not as frightened by such things as I used to be. It’s still a bit unsettling. You come up with all this hate and say, “I’m paying to put it out there.”

    [21:02] What exactly is Channeling?

Consider your gut feeling. Consider a moment when you’re not trying to meditate or looking for something, but you’re doing something you enjoy and are calmly doing that requires a tiny amount of your attention. It is a beautiful space, almost meditative.

[21:45] Consider how you feel in that area, how many fantastic thoughts and creativity appear out of nowhere in your head. It’s an element of your consciousness, and that element of your consciousness is why I call it source.

    [23:48] Channeling

I’m channeling that eternal consciousness version of myself that comes within me. I’ve started teaching others how to alter their life with this knowledge, and it’s working. Everything, I suppose, has the power that we give it. That’s how the law of attraction works if you’re religious and provide that spiritual strength, and you pray and think it will work for you. For me, this is the message of the streams. The streams’ statement has never stumped them because it’s incredibly plain and concise. And it links the dots if you relax into it and listen to what they teach with an open mind, and I say they because I feel it comes from somewhere beyond me.

[24:51] I enjoy channeling and then reflecting on what we’ve learned from what I’ve directed. I’ve never sought to position myself as a guru since I’m a flawed human being. I’m the first to talk about it on my show; nonetheless, I still have issues. I still face challenges, have ups and downs in business, and experience ups and downs in life because life is all about it.

[25:57] What inspires us to create?

Usually, it’s a lack of something, a barrier, a difficulty, or something we’d like to progress through. That is motivation and why I talk about vibrational flow rather than the law of attraction because the vibrational flow is the type of energy that drives emotions. And we’re all in astrology, which is rooted in that vibrational flow. I’m going to get into astrology, but astrology is rooted in that vibrational flow. As a result, if you were born on a specific day or year, you may share certain features with other people. And as a result, individuals have particular experiences.

[27:26] What promise did God make to the world when He created you?

The promise of perfection amid imperfection.

    Key Quotes

[06:18 - 06:25] “Joy is about loving yourself, loving all of humanity, loving life just being joyful for no specific reason.”

[17:32 – 17:38] “I do believe we all have our own independent bubble of reality that we create, based on our reaction.”

[22:02 – 22:08] “I do believe we are all connected as a collective consciousness, all of creation is and especially all of humanity.”

[29:06 – 29:16] “When you claim your power to create. You’re not moving to a space where you never have another obstacle or another challenge in life. You’re moving into a space of deep appreciation of all of it.”

  • Dan Rogers - Sales Sidekick

In this episode, we have invited Dan Rogers, CEO and board member of Sales Sidekick. You’re going to hear a story about a person who decided to leave an area and go into rolling burritos for less than minimum wage and eventually owns 60 restaurants under three years. Since COVID shutting down his business, having no income for 17 months, and starting another company, we’re going to hear all about how it’s rocking and rolling.

[7:50] From rolling burritos to opening 60 restaurants

One, you did a fantastic job based on how much prep you got. But just one minor nuance. I never had equity. The greatest gift they gave me was they didn’t provide me with equity. What happened was I was moving furniture during the day and trying to graduate at night. The schedule got so crazy that I just had to take what I had to. I just took a job trying to roll burritos at this tiny little fast-food chain.

The owner took me under his wing, and he said, Look, I want to be burritos but with subway, or I want to be subway but with burritos. And he just let me sort of start doing stuff. Two and a half years started with standardizing the experience, ops manuals, franchise manuals, central commissary, figured out catering, onboarding seven franchise groups, and opening about 60 stores.

[9:26]  I understood right away that there was a place that I could create value for him. We made plenty of mistakes on the way, and not everything we did work, but there was enough trust that they trusted me to keep trying stuff. I realized that by staying there, I was getting the opportunity to take on chances that I wasn’t qualified to do because ownership trusted me.

[12:31] When did that mentality started

I got sober in 1994. I was given a process to report up essentially and to plug into something significantly bigger than myself. I would say that that’s sort of the basis of what I call the sidekick mentality. It becomes “second nature.” I’m looking to see how we can create value, usually on a more significant level than where we’re serving.

    [14:09] Transition

The moving company that I was working for prior was waiting for me to graduate to get me into sales, which wasn’t going to happen. So then they just came and talked to me.  I need to know what’s in it for me. And I don’t need super specifics, but just some idea of what’s going on? And I feel for him because I have since run several businesses my own like I get where they were, they were just trying their best to get through, so they couldn’t give me a specific answer. If they had given me half a percent equity, I would have stayed, but since they didn’t, I went back to the Moving Company and got in sales. And the agency that I was working for had an excellent reputation. So with a little bit of enthusiasm and all that we had a lot of success in sales. Five years later, I bought one of the four agencies that the guy that I worked

[15:33] Did you have a bigger vision of what it could be?

The first in actual hardcore reasoning was, I was sort of the face and a little bit of the brain of what was happening. But there were a lot of really great people making stuff happen behind my promises. The owner that I worked for was a good man. He’s still a good man. It wasn’t about the money. He just didn’t like that we were doing what he was saying was their job. It got to the point that it was harder to sell him on my next idea than getting the people to pay us.

[16:58] What was the idea behind not starting your own in that realm?

I’ve seen plenty of people execute this, the sort of long-term strategy that is successful. He knew, and I knew that the customers, at least the overwhelming majority of the customers, would have followed me because that was the relationship. They knew I was the “face.” Secondly, if you value equity, then pay for it. In terms of the vision of what I wanted, plenty of people helped make the promises happen. But as the salesperson, I was the one that won the National Sales award and got the cruises and all that other stuff. And so, I felt like we had an opportunity to let other people do that.

[19:20] The other thing is how awesome is it if the 10 top people in your team all had books and speaking tours? What does that say about your team?

[21:08] Why should we listen to you?

It’s because you heard me say something that did make sense. Work is the single most honorable act in the universe. Or, if you’re bored, I have some colorful sayings or fundamental truths that may be presented in a way that makes people think about them differently.

[21:44] What is this new business?

After buying the business in 2002, we succeeded, took it apart, and cleaned it up. It was a highly specialized corporate event, shipping business. And what we heard politely but consistently from our clients was, “Hey, you’re good, but you’re a shipping guy, so we’ll call you when we are back to face.”

[23:04] I started helping other people who were fortunate enough to have classy problems. How do you grow through COVID and all that because our businesses were booming? They said what’s cool about your company’s how you organized to do what you did without salespeople. That turned into a Sales Sidekick. And we got that started in just late February 2021.

    Key Quotes:

[19:45 – 19:53] “I just felt like it’s just way easier to get ahead helping people get to where they want to go than trying to impose it on other people.”

  • Kyle Sullivan - Unleash The Champ

In this episode, we have invited Kyle Sullivan, former D1 athlete, now husband. He’s a pastor, founder of a coaching business in a concept called Unleash the Champ. He has the desire to serve and is passionate to spread the word to the world now than ever because the world is changing. And we need people who are anchored and grounded to lead us in different directions.

[03:37] Why should we listen to you?

Why you should listen to me is because I’m going to be obsessively interested in you in hoping that we have a conversation that will inspire and motivate you, but more so, I just want to learn about your story and “Aww Shift” moments in your life. And so if we’re sitting at a coffee shop, we’re going to enjoy some coffee, some conversation, connection, and we’re gonna leave inspired.

    [04:42] Competitive mentality

I got into sports really as an outlet for wanting to be accepted. Wanting to be seen as cool. I was born when my dad was a senior in high school, and my biological mom bounced for about six months. He’s the hardest working man I know even today, just a whatever it takes mentality.

Growing up, I was always into sports. One of my greatest awards was the Leadership Award. We had the scout team award when I was coming up into high school. I got that two times and I loved it because I knew that that was making other people better until I got my chance to play, so it wasn’t always that way. I had a lot of things to overcome in my own life.

    [9:49] Aww Shift Moment

So in the midst of all of my college career, I pledge a fraternity, I’m cheering, move out of my parent’s house, move into the frat house. I thought I had to eat the limitless pill, and I could do anything. And it wasn’t until I got jumped at a drug deal.

[11:11] I went to church from middle school through high school, but I couldn’t stand it. And so I went to church. I call a guy. And I said, “I need Jesus.” I just didn’t abbreviate anything. He said, Okay, come over. So I’ve come over, He leads me to Christ, on his front porch, in between drugs and a cigarette, wake up the next day, yet another all shift moment.

So I dropped out of college. I quit everything, moved out of the frat house, and got connected with a group of guys living way different from me, but I had a much better direction. That started this transformation in me of structured liveness that I didn’t realize was destructive until I became face to face with it. And so I took a year off, worked, went back to school, and a small Christian School in Arkansas got my degree in Christian studies and thought, I’m gonna be a pastor.

    [15:13]  Pastoring journey

I started getting involved in the church. Got my yeses on the table. I have no clue what that means. I just knew I didn’t want to go back to what I was doing.

[17:53] The pastoring thing came from being in it, being in the environment, being available and obedient to the right, and being willing to walk through doors as they come.

    [18:54] 5 Pillars

So the five pillars are your calling, heart, attitude, mindset, and performance. So the calling is I think so many people are willingly in cages of comfort, security, and what others think they should do. But when you ask them, Hey, what do you want to do? It’s a whole cliche question. If money was no option, what would you do? It’s probably 8 out of 10 times not doing what they’re doing now.

    Key Quotes:

[18:29 – 18:39] “Bible says all things work together for our good. It may not be a good thing for us. But it does always work out in our favor.”

[21:58 – 22:08] “Oftentimes, people who have solved the money problem, but it was sacrificed. Because it’s something that you have to be in a place where you want to invest in yourself.”

  • Tori Gordon - Self Mastery University

In today’s episode of Aww Shift Podcast, we have invited Tori Gordon, an Award-Winning content creator, TikTok’s Top 100 Female Creator of 2021, a Master Coach, host of The Coachable Podcast, and a trauma-informed breathwork facilitator. Tori has always been fascinated with the world’s ways. This curiosity enabled her to understand where she stands in the grand scheme of things. Today, Tori shares how she found her path after the constant struggle to understand what she wanted to do in life.

[04:14] Why should we listen to you?

It all starts from an initial feeling, the non-verbal communication you get from seeing me. It’s the first thing we often pick up on from people. Perhaps, the way I smile, look, or even my posture invites you to connect or talk. This is something that I unconsciously do that allows me to connect with people and bringing the barrier to entry down.

[06:54] When did you become a curious person?

Since young, I would be asking off-the-wall questions like “What is sand made of?” and try to understand my place in the world and how I will fit in this grand scheme of things. My curiosity was something encouraged and celebrated in my family. Even if my dad or mom does not have all the answers, they educated and guided me to be resourceful enough to find the answers independently. I was taught that it is okay to know things, but not when you do not do anything about it.

[10:23] How did you end up with your path?

I did not know anything at first. It all started with my photoshoot with my sister, who had leukemia, and it was my last photoshoot with her. I searched for the next thing I wanted to do until someone nudged me to go to social work. I did great in that endeavor until I realized it would not help me sustain my lifestyle. Then, someone told me again to go into sales. I did well in the corporate path, but I was unfulfilled.

[13:07] There are millions of us out there that have gotten to that point of “I can’t believe this is my life. This is what I am spending my entire life on.” Ultimately, I had to take a step back and ask myself, “Where do I see myself few years down the line in this corporate path?” I concluded that this is not for me.

[14:40] Since I value my self-expression and freedom, I want to share what I am going through with the world. Finally, it led me to be a full-time entrepreneur.

    [20:24] Roadmap

I want to get everything that’s in my curriculum in my head and heart down on paper and create a roadmap for people that’s digestible and tangible. It’s all about finding out what you can do and reimagining what’s possible in every aspect of your life. I want to speak to many people and share this “Coachable Program” and support hundreds of thousands of students with the resources, training, skills, and tools to transform their lives and careers, inside and out.

    [24:35] Commitments and Disappointments

We either commit to this version of ourselves or the next thing we want to achieve, but that commitment is attached to the outcome. If we don’t get the result we anticipated, we get disappointed, and that failure creates suffering in our lives. That’s why I tell people that you can commit to something but be unattached to the outcomes.

[27:47] What promise did God make to the world when He created you?

He promised to send a messenger to the world to tell you that your best days are behind you, but they are ahead of you.

    Key Quotes:

08:43 – 08:47 “Many people are walking around with a lot of knowledge, but they are not doing anything about it.”

23:40 – 23:44 “I am at where I am in this moment, and that is what I am grateful for.”

25:43 – 25:51 “You can go for it, and be committed to making things happen. But be unattached to the way it comes forward for you.”

  • Magda Khalifa - The Freedom Triangle

In today's episode, our guest is Magda Khalifa. She has witnessed the 911 attacks. They did two tours in Iraq, dealt with their own kind of health issues, and launched the first veteran-owned luxury fragrance line for men and women in her foundations. She has a new book out which is called the best-selling action book called American Dream. We're going to talk about more of her book and how to have success and succeed in life.

[03:15]Why should we pay attention to you?

What I have to offer is a little bit different in its perspective. Because a lot of times we have a lot of value to give back. But sometimes, people get lost in their messaging because it sounds too much like someone else doesn't sound original, doesn't sound authentic. I've realized the path I've taken in life is not perhaps the most common path. It provided a perspective that many other people have not necessarily thought of.

[04:17] How did the military come into play for your life?

When I joined, I was about 29 years old. But before that, back then in the 90s, I was married, my college degree had a career in information technology. Seeing the act of war in my backyard in New York City and other spots in our country pushed me to make a commitment and do something and serve something bigger than myself.

[8:54] Where did the book see forth come from?

It's between 2007 and 2018. I was healing, I was growing, I was functional on the outside, but I was still struggling with many things I didn't understand. Over time, I was able to find what I call a success path to move forward. As hard as each day was, I took whatever I could from that day and just pushed it on to the next day. Over almost a decade, I made it through and turned my life around 180 degrees. I realized I needed to share my story because if I was going to help others, I needed to be vulnerable and show who I was as a person and what I had gone through. I try to lay out a little roadmap. There's something in the book towards the end called the freedom triangle.

[11:08] What was the freedom triangle?

Many people are familiar with Maslow's hierarchy of needs, which is a triangular form as well. I think of the freedom triangle as the next level. It addresses some of the shortcomings in us because I realized that the first century was different. Generationally, we evolved, which is a good thing humans could evolve. So the thing that worked in the past may not be sufficient having a roof over your head and food. This concept is based on time freedom, health freedom, and mind freedom, which is the pinnacle of the triangle. And that's the hardest one that people don't always get to in life. But if they know how to do that, they're more likely to get there.

[12:26] The reason I came up with a fragrance line is that I needed a physical product that would be a good representative for freedom triangle for those modern luxury points of inner peace, personal freedom and significance that we all crave. I thought about fragrance for two reasons. One, men and women could wear fragrances. Also, it could serve people worldwide. I didn't want a product sold just here in the US. So even though it is made in the USA, it is available worldwide because part of my freedom triangle serves people worldwide.

Additionally, the fragrance is powerful. Each of the scents is intentional. And they're designed to invoke the aura of the point in the freedom triangle they correspond with.

[18:56] When you have the money to be able to look back and think about what you've gone through, you appreciate the fact that you were part of it and it shapes who you are as a person from now on.

    [20:37] What's the foundation about?

During my transition years that I alluded to earlier, before I even wrote the book, I found that helping others through nonprofits, helping others that were worse off than me helped me. That was very near and dear to my heart. I am grateful that I still have my struggles, but I didn't lose my limbs. I didn't lose my eyesight.

[21:29] Its mission is to help people find inner peace and personal freedom. We're giving back and helping others so that they could come out on the other side of the struggle and really good, fulfilling, peaceful life afterward.

    Key Quotes:

[09:54-10:05] “I realized not everybody is going to have the same experiences and not everyone is going to have gone through the exact same things that I've gone through. But one thing I've learned about struggle is it's all about mindset.”

[15:45-15:53] “I believe if you're going to commit to something, you become all in, and you sink your teeth into it, and go as far as you can with it.”

  • Joi Mebane - Microblading Business Mogul

In today’s episode, our guest is Joi Mebane, Owner and CEO behind The Look by Joi. She’s one of America’s experts and innovators in microblading. Joi created the 60 second Brow Kit to help those people stuck at home get their brows done professionally. Then she traveled the country to conferences, teaching other men and women how to open successful brow and microblading businesses.

[07:32] why should we listen to you?

You should listen to me because my brows are fantastic. Especially if somebody can see if it's brows, hair lashes or whatever, you're going to look at theirs so you're looking at mine and say, "Her brows are awesome. Maybe I should listen to what she has to say."

[08:29] what was the journey into beauty?

In high school, I was always into makeup. I was on routine. And I used to go to one place to get my eyebrows done. One day my mom and I went to a market and she was going to get her necklace fix or something. I was still waiting in line to get my brows done. So it was like an hour late and mom's like, if you're going to stay here and wait, you're going to have to walk home.

[09:29] When I got home, my mom says, you can follow it and learn to be your own brand. I started following it, learned how to cut my own brows, and eventually started doing it for my friends. That was my hustle in college- doing people's eyebrows, which is cool because it is a real niche service.

[10:33] In college, I got an opportunity to open up a makeup counter, which is the counter that I have now on sale. And what I brought to the actual cosmetic sales industry was a company doing eyebrows with selling the products because it's a gateway service.

[12:59] Is that where you teach them to start at home and actually create these businesses?

You can do brick—and—mortar sales through Instagram and promote different ways to make money in views. I always say beauty isn't going anywhere. It's not going to go anywhere. Even in the global pandemic ratio is in the economic downfall, people still were calling. I always tell people that they can be owner-operators, sell products online, and even develop. I also teach them how to do product development because that was one of the niche things. Throughout my career, I learned how to develop products.

[15:25] Where did the entrepreneurial spirit come from?

As far as my entrepreneurial spirit, my mom was an entrepreneur. She had an in-home daycare for 12 years. My family has small businesses. I remember selling Girl Scout cookies. A lot of times the entrepreneurial spirit is innate. You can learn some of it. But just that hustling, the drive is beyond I want some money. It's like I'm going to hit this and do some more of it and get some more of it. The money almost becomes intangible.

[17:38] What are some of the biggest roadblocks you see to people taking the next step for a goal or dream like this?

The biggest roadblock people have is themselves. They can tell you all the reasons they can't do something, but none of the reasons why they can. I had to understand because I had concluded that it is not just them learning, me teaching them how to do. It is leading them how to believe in themselves, of what they can do. It almost becomes more of an encouragement than just a lesson.

[20:10] What makes people most successful and what it is you do?

If you want to be successful, just show up. A lot of people, they're just not showing up. They're giving up. They have all these excuses why they can't.

[27:25] What promise did God make to the world when He created you?

He promised everybody joy. And I promise everybody that I meet, I tried to live up to my name to the best of my ability. And I always say when I leave people, “don't let nobody steal your joy.”

    Key Quotes:

[14:34-14:39] “I work closely with the clients in the business, so I actually knew what they needed.”

[17:37-17:48] “The biggest roadblock people have is themselves. They can tell you all the reasons they can't do something, but none of the reasons why they can.”

[22:00-22:05] “I've never in my mind said I can't do something or something's going to be too hard.”

  • Tricia Nelson - Emotional Eating Expert

In this episode, our guest is Tricia Nelson. Tricia is an internationally acclaimed author, transformational speaker, and emotional eating expert. She has been featured on dozens of radio and television networks, including FOX, NBC, CBS, KTLA, and Discovery Health. After years of experimentation with 12-step programs, therapy, and self-help books, Tricia finally hit a spiritual and emotional bottom. After working with a spiritual healer, Roy Nelson (who would later become her husband) helped her recognize and heal the root causes of her addictions. She has maintained a fifty-pound weight loss for close to 30 years.

Now, Tricia has successfully helped hundreds of people overcome a variety of eating disorders and addictions. If you want to end your emotional eating and start to feel in control around food and effortlessly lose weight without crazy diet and exercise plans, then this is the perfect episode for you!

[05:15] Why should we listen to you?

Honestly, I will say I lead with my heart. Usually, people can energetically feel my heart, which is pretty full of love. I’m more interested in how you feel than what you know. I like to connect with people at the heart level. Being an emotionally eating expert, I am emotional, and that’s the realm I play in. I find straight-up intellectual conversations to be a little dry. I like it when I can talk with somebody about something meaningful to them, something that’s a passion of theirs, something that comes from their heart. And so that’s where I lead is from the heart.

[06:50] How was this emotional eating experience was before you solve your own problem?

I was really obsessed with food from the get-go as far back as I can remember. I love food, love eating, cooking, and serving other people to go out to dinner. I was just so in the food, but the problem is that I also gained weight quickly. At 21, I was 50 pounds overweight and really unhappy with my weight. It really plagued me, and I would have desperate thoughts about getting the weight off my body. I tried diets and exercise programs and pills and potions and lotions.

I met somebody more of a spiritual healer who showed me that I don’t have to diet. This is somebody who has been morbidly obese. He really had this way of going deeper and helping people go deeper and deal with the underlying causes. I had things from my past I needed to dig out and heal. It was a rapid and somewhat simple process of just clearing out things that were blocking me from just following through on what I know. When I started facing emotional eating, the connection was made, and I was able to finally make healthier choices do good things for my body. It was happening from the inside out.

[11:16] How did you transition and become an Emotional Eating Expert?

The transition stems from overcoming something as devastating as emotional eating, obesity, and food addiction. Very few people heal to the point where they lose weight and keep it off 90% of all diets fail. The fact that I beat the odds and have been in a thin body for decades, I feel like a walking miracle. I’m so grateful to God for this feeling. But also, it didn’t just spontaneously happen.

It happened because I had a way out. I had a particular system of steps to take. It worked, and the fact that it worked for me, I just knew it would work for other people. And I spent a lot of time helping other people do this. That’s when I decided to really codify it and put it into an actual system and create a business out of it to heal your hunger.

[14:32] Focusing on the underlying causes of overeating

Being overweight is a symptom of overeating. People should start taking off the diet track and address the underlying causes. It just makes their whole life better. They don’t just lose weight in a way that they don’t have to focus on the weight loss, but the solution is internal, and so it has a ripple effect into every area of your life. It makes you happier, your relationships better, and makes you more joyful.

[15:43] What are the key points that people can learn from your book?

One of my signature things or messages is about the anatomy of the emotional eater, which is a phrase I coined. And the anatomy of the emotional eater consists of 24 personality traits that make up the emotional years of experience of showing up in life. And this has nothing to do with food. Most of the time we think overcoming emotional eating involves diet, getting the right food plan, or whatnot. But it’s about living differently. A telltale sign of one of the 24 personality traits as people-pleasing. Emotional eaters tend to be big people pleasers. We get our validation from outside of ourselves instead of having it for ourselves.

[22:04] What is the coolest story you can share about a client?

I’ve had a client for about a year, who is just sort of my star, you know, I have many superstars. But this gal really touched my heart because she’s a young mom in her early 30s. She gave birth to two kids, then adopted three kids, and they’re all young. She was 40 – 50 pounds overweight and depressed. She didn’t have the joy or the light in her eyes, and she joined my program.

And through my program, she really came alive, and she learned how to take care of herself. She is a mom to super young kids, and three of them were adopted from an unhealthy situation. They’ve got baggage and trauma. Now, she’s lost over 40 pounds, but one of the things she talks about now is that she can be present with her kids and really show up for them, and she’s got the joy, creativity, and happiness.

[25:55] What promise did God make to the world when He created you?

I think God just said watch out. There’s a big and bright light coming your way. And it’s going to feel good and warm.

    Key Quotes

[12:58-13:06] “When your life transforms, you just want to tell people about it. You want to help them have the same experience, especially for something as hard as emotional eating.”

[14:32-14:37] “Overweight is a symptom of overeating, and overeating is a symptom of what is eating me.”
