  • 2 of 3 Oskar Blues brewing Mama’s little yella pils and Can O Bliss IPA

Today I drink beers three and four of my five variety sampler. The first beer is a pilsner at 4.7% abv. It is a similar style of beer to Budweiser. Let’s see how it compares.

Second, I drink the Can O Bliss IPA. At 7.2% beer, it packs a punch and we shall see how it measures up to other IPA’s on the market.

Since I’m starting to lose track of some of the beers I have tasted, I decided to go the “easy” route for a little while. I grabbed another sampler 15 pack of Oskar Blues Brewing’s beer, with 5 beers.

I have a few more samplers I will plow through to taste moving forward…it will allow me time to replenish my stock for future episodes as well.

This brewery is recognized as the “first” craft brewery to can their beers. Based originally out of Boulder, Colorado, they are the second largest craft brewery out of Colorado.

This episode, I drink Dale’s Pale Ale. It is a 6.5% abv beer. I first tasted this a long ass time ago, I don’t recall liking it, but that was when domestic cheap lagers rules my taste buds.

Second, I drink the G’Knight Imperial Red Ale. It is a whopping 8.7% abv beer. I can see why they named this beer the way it did, it is a heavy beer.

This will be episode 1 of 3 on this brewery.

  • Sierra Nevada brewing sampler 3 of 3; Hop Solo and Tropical Torpedo IPA

Today I conclude my Sierra Nevada sampler series.

I start off with the Hop Solo crystal hop IPA. A light 5.5% abv beer to supplement the two homebrews I just had seems like a great segue into the night.

Next, I drink the Tropical Torpedo IPA. A heavier 6.7% abv beer will top the night off well for me.

  • Sierra Nevada Brewing sampler part 2 of 3: Helles in the Tropics and Sidecar orange IPA

Today I continue the three part series of the Sierra Nevada
Brewery sampler I swooped up recently. The first beer is called Helles in the
Tripics. It is a 4.8% abv helles lager with, well, tropical flavor.

The next beer is the Sidecar orange IPA. This beer is a 6.8%
abv beer with orange. I usually don’t go for orange flavored beer…but we shall
    let bygones be bygones.

  • The Sierra Nevada series 1 of 3: Classic Pale Ale and Ruthless Rye IPA.

For the next few episodes, I am going to do tastings on a Sierra Nevada sampler pack I recently purchased. I plan on drinking two beers per episode (like usual) until the beers are done.

The beers vary. They are the Sidecar Orange IPA, Ruthless Rye IPA, Tropics in Helles, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, the cascade hop SOLO Series IPA and finally the Tropical IPA.

I have been a fan of Sierra Nevada Brewing for years. My first beer with them was their classic pale ale. The next beer I had with them was their Bigfoot barley wine.

I remember getting a 6 pack of that shit with my buddy Matt and getting tanked off just that 6 pack. That beer is around 10% abv at a time where Old English was 8.1%, but the taste of the Bigfoot trumped OE by miles.

I don’t drink THAT beer on this segment, but I likely will
in the future. I actually have a barrel aged version of that beer…so I might
bust that bad boy out soon.

Today, I start with the classic Pale Ale. This original hoppy beer is the revolutionary beer that evolved the craft beer market.

An independent brewery, Sierra Nevada inspired brewers, connoisseurs and Chico party animals throughout time with this simple 5.6% beer.

The next beer I taste is the Ruthless Rye IPA. Sitting at
6.6% abv, the taste is admired by guys like me. It may not be for everybody,
but I can attest that it is a good beer from prior experience.

  • Pizza Port California Honey Blonde ale and Lead Dog Peanut Butter Stout

I picked up some craft beer today. I had a Bev Mo gift card and scored some sweet beers.

The first one is Pizza Port Brewing’s California Honey Blonde Ale. A light 4.8% beer from Carlsbad, Ca (San Diego region). I have been here before, after a couple of bingers my boy’s and I hit up the PP and had some pizza with beer.

I also sip (chug) Lead Dog Brewing’s Peanut Butter Stout. It’s a 6.6% abv beer from Reno, Ca. It is comparable to my personal industry standard of PB stouts (Belching Beaver). They have a wide variety of ales and I would love to check this brewery out.

  • Lone Star Beer and Barrelhouse Brewing Juicy IPA

Listen for $0.00 (free) on this website, the apple podcasts app, facebook, google play, and/or stitcher.

This first beer is the Lone Star Beer, “the national beer of Texas.” It is a 4.65% abv beer. I dont know what style it is, but my guess is it’s a lager. They have been around for over a century.

The next beer is a juicy IPA from Barrelhouse Brewing Co. It is a 6.5% abv beer. This brewery came around 2013 and is from Paso Robles, Ca (near San Luis Obispo). They are an independent brewery.

I also play the shit out of my band’s older album. Formerly known as The Monomyth Inception, check out the material on spotify and itunes. I play Sickhead, Let’s Go and Only One on this episode. Those days were bad ass in regards to my musicianship.

I was soo into it. I mean, I would write lyrics during my lunch breaks and go to the studio by myself with a 6 pack of beer and write songs.

I haven’t really done that for a while, but inspiration will call upon me one of these days…one of these days…

  • Firestone Union Jack IPA and Coronado Peach Cruiser IPA tastings

Forgive any slurring on this episode. I am not drunk, I just woke
up from a nap. Yes, I had a couple beers before my nap, but my brain is
    waking up.

Anyways, I sip on the Union Jack IPA from Firestone
Walker Brewing Company. They are from Paso Robles, CA and have sold to
Duvel in 2015. They have an excellent barrel aging program and I
thoroughly enjoy this IPA on the show.

It is a 7% abv beer, but doesn’t taste like booze. It’s hoppy and makes me happy.

    This
brewery is still respectable to me, mostly because they are still
barrel aging. I love when brewers do stuff like “barrel aging” because
there are so many variables that make a brewery vulnerable, but that
vulnerability can pay off huge sums (1. by charging more and 2. because
of the awesome products the efforts can yield).

    I also drink
Coronado Brewing’s Peach Cruiser IPA. It is an IPA made with peach
puree. It is 6.8% abv. This brewery is from the San Diego region and
    they came out around 1996.

That is about all I got from their
story (breweries please take note: spend more time on writing your story
    out on your website).

This beer is a lovely IPA with subtle
hints of fruit and tropical explosions. The peach is there, but it
complements the beer in a good way.

That is about it for this show, besides me talking about my band, recent batch of beer and other shenanigans.

  • Carlsberg Euro Pale Lager and B- Brewing’s Brett / Lacto Sour IPA

Well, fiverr.com has done me right. For $17 (vs. $300) they fixed my website (there was malware on it). I changed the password and hopefully shouldn’t have any hiccups moving forward.

I also verified that my apple podcasts is updated, so listen there for free downloads.

Today I drink a couple beers. The first being the Carlsberg European Pale Lager. It is a 5% abv beer and has been around for over a century.

I also drink a sour beer I made about a year and a half ago. I bottled it about six months ago and have been taking bottle samples every couple of months as time progresses.

Allegedly, the beer should mature better over time…let me verify if that myth is correct.

I also made beer today, I will discuss that on the show as well.
