  • Episode 292: Ghost Writer

If you were thinking of the show where a mysterious ghost in a neighborhood bookstore brings together four kids who must work together to free fictional characters from works of literature, you are thinking of the wrong Ghost Writer. In this Ghost Writer, from 1989, a dead 1950's era starlet is stuck in limbo and must enlist the help of a Hollywood beat writer to help her pass onto the other side with plenty of crazy antics along the way. This Ghost Writer couldn't be more opposite than that beloved 90's PBS series, unless that show also starred Joey Travolta (yes, brother of John) as a guy so obsessed with the dead starlet that he carries around her death notice in his wallet, which we're 95% certain it did not.

  • Episode 287: To Hell And Gone

A heist gone wrong. A stranger, running from his past? His future? A rancher forced in to an impossible situation. To Hell And Gone is a wonderful film which pays tribute to the westerns and thrillers of the 1970s in a fresh, engaging and original way. By incorporating certain horror elements of the same era in to this contemporary spaghetti western, writer and director Kyle Moore brings to life his unique artistic vision that is an absolute must see. Reminiscent of a Quentin Tarantino or Robert Rodriguez film in how different yet respectful it is of the genres that inspired it and captured in glorious 4k,  to Hell and Gone is a film you do not want to miss. Listen to the beginning of our episode for spoiler free thoughts and opinions, watch the movie, then keep listening as we get in to why we feel this movie is as successful as it is. • Episode 286: The Flying Guillotine

Imagine a ruler who turns his nation's military forces against his own citizenry for expediant, political gain. Pretty far fetched, right? Super unbelievable, I bet you're thinking. When would this ever happen?! Well, to make matters worse, as if that's possible, what if this ruler has armed this elite fighting force with a newly invented weapon of precise destruction, a flying weapon of death, capable of decapitating his enemies in a matter of seconds. What would such a weapon even be called? This is the Flying Guillotine! Realizing that the system is corrupt, one soldier turns against his ruler in an all out war, leaving the justice of a nation hanging in the balance. Will good triumph over evil? Will one man's insane, political machinations be thwarted by the will of the people? Watch The Flying Guillotine, and then listen in to join our conversation.  But above all else, and in all seriousness, be careful out there.  History may not repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes, and real life doesn't always have a happy ending like the movies, unless you stand up and make it so.
