Background Noise

This is a special Christmas episode of Background Noise...but really it's not that Christmasy at all. We discussed what you probably expected to hear about this week (mass shootings, mental health, gun control, gun violence etc.) but also got into some other weird topics: a man who beat a woman with a shit-filled sock, a daring prison escape in Chicago, video games we're playing and more! Then we wrapped it all up with a good will message of being good to each other and some Christmas talk. Happy holidays! Celebrate with your true loves (us)!

This week on yet ANOTHER special episode, we played a game called "good idea/shitty idea", where Derrek would read a news story and then we would discuss whether...well, you see where this is going. Topics include the parents who let their son wear pink girl shoes to school, the tennis player who imitated Serena Williams by stuffing her tennis clothes, Mexicans smuggling drugs via cannon-launching, and a woman who tried to hide drugs inside her titties. We also discussed the creeps who were plotting to kill Justin Bieber, a program in Brazil that lets criminals get out earlier for doing book reports, and a slew of other random topics that will make you laugh and smile like a fat 5 year old stuck in the popcorn machine at the movie theatre. It's Background Noise! We make your ears go "poppity, pop, pop, pop"!

Mavs Gillis from sportstream.ca sat in on this exciting episode of Background Noise to grace us with his presence! Discussion topics include the NFL murder-suicide that shocked the sports world, a beautiful castle that got bulldozed by mistake, the Halifax Explosion, the past month or so of comedian Katt Williams' strange behavior and more! We also took a look at Jon Travolta and Olivia Newton John's horrendous new music video, and a douche-o-matic scene from the latest Resident Evil movie. Chaos Theory joins us on this "very special, special, SPECIAL" episode to talk to us about what they've been up to (A LOT)! They also divulged some secret information about their upcoming project, so listen close! Geeks. Nerds. Lend me your ears. I need extra ears so I can listen to this weeks Background Noise in 3D. The Lord High PigMonkey and John Roy from Geeks Versus Nerds join us this week as we welcome back Luke from his week long hiatus. We talk about his trip last week to the hospital, and our experiences with doctors squeezing our penises and balls. We also discussed Devin's first ever (accidental) experience with alcohol, which took place just this week! Then we went down a tube to world 7, where Derrek threw out single keywords, and asked the rest of the fellas to guess the accompanying news story. After that, we blew the whistle and went to world 3 to discuss Geeks versus Nerds, and what topics Derrek, Dev and Luke could go on and defend. ThunderCats? Perhaps. WARRRRRR!!! Three female comedians have invaded the show! Megan Mackay, Andie Bulman, and Ana Donova (feat. her keyboard) join us this week to talk! Luke is out injured and listed as day to day. In the first segment, Derrek tries to get people to admit they're secret racists, then we fearlessly plunge into topics that include: Sasquatch, Barack and Michelle Obama's sexual appetites, legalizing marijuana joint cigarettes, lessons learned in their comedy travels, and how mouth hugging a penis can cost you in dental bills. Then at the end we discuss men peeing on pregnancy tests. Listen... I don't know what to tell you. There's a ton of sidetrack talk that I can't even begin to get into, and Ana's wonderful melody escorts us gently along. Check it out!

Take a second to listen to the 3rd most popular podcast in Halifax, Nova Scotia as voted in The Coast! WHOA WHOA WHOA! SETTLE DOWN! THERE'S ENOUGH TO GO AROUND, LADIES! Just kidding. No one loves us. Still, Devin and Derrek discussed their weekend at Hal-Con, we talked about a dirty texting cop, horrible movie remakes (Nightmare On Elm Street was the worst), the marvels of PCP, Disney buying LucasFilm, and a murderous farm combine that ate a minivan like a piece of God damn toast. Don't cry for us. We're already dead. Have mercy...the sexy Uncle Jesse kind, if you could. Yeeeah.

The multi-talented (rapper and producer, among other things) Cam Smith joins us on this episode to share with us some of his music, ideas, philosophies and experiences. He also played some Battletoads & Double Dragon with Luke during some of the discussion (that game is hard as hell - don't bother). As for stories and topics, we discussed the woman who sold her virginity for $780,000, the video footage of Lil Reese stomping a girl down like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kendrick Lamar's new album, a "Fantasy Slut League" at a high school and lots of other interesting stuff. It's the Super Mario Bros. 3 of episodes. Yup, it's THAT good.

It's an extra educational show this time around, so get out your pencils and scribblers ready! We learned about hieroglyphic porn, the different "tiers" of porn and what what "xxx" stands for! Then we discussed the Red Bull Stratos jump (what records were broken and what science learned from it) and we also talked about the Amanda Todd situation (the man who got fired from his job for his hateful comments on-line, and a discussion about what the media should be focusing on when it comes to stories like this). To top it all off, we learned some uses for urine, where the purest water comes from, and where the biggest and smallest dicks in the world come from. No, you won't be surprised, but listen anyway, dammit!
