One of the magic parts of Christmas is, of course, getting presents! But it loses its magic when kids come to expect gifts or that becomes the reason for the season. So how can you keep fun traditions like Santa and gift giving without spoiling kids? And should we even be teaching our kids about Santa? How can we do it in a positive way and create healthy home cultures?

This bitter cold time is when I hole up in my house, crank the heat, put on a fire, and cozy up on the couch. What a blessing it is. There are many people, though, who don't have any of those simple luxuries and are fighting through this bitter long weekend outside... homeless. I wanted to interview someone with personal experience to see what life on the streets is like, what is helpful to homeless people, and how to help them get back on their feet.

The spirit of Thanksgiving is a great time to think about our blessings. When I thought about this topic I thought of a friend that I heard one time share her experience with her house burning down and the tragedies that befell her family but I was surprised how she remained so grateful and forgiving. So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, hear her inspirational personal experience of how to keep a mindset of gratitude amidst trials.
