It's Bullying Prevention Month so I'm replaying these impactful interviews I did earlier this year.
The first one is with Calvin Krainock who tells a heart-wrenching story of being sexually assaulted by his baseball team. He talks about this traumatic aspect of bullying and how boys and men need to speak out about it.
Then we hear from Instagram and Tik Tok Influencer, Telaine Jenkins, who does social media for a living for her family business. She lets us in on the realities of cyber bullying and how to keep your head up in the midst of bullies- children, teens, and adults alike.

October is Mental Health Awareness Month so I'm replaying an interview of a young woman, Nicole HIlton, who lets us inside her mind and the day that she took her life by jumping off a cliff and surviving. She shares how she coped with suicidal thoughts and now copes as a parapalegic.
Then I replay an episode about post partum depression and what resources there are to help. And finally end with a tangent all about building self confidence and what self confidence really means.

World Day of Refugees is coming up and I thought it would be a great time to hear a first-hand story of migration from a refugee herself. I brought on Desange Kuenihira to share her story of fleeing Congo and Uganada to come live the American Dream. She talks of the adjustments to a new country, how maintaining a positive perspective helped her, and also about her new book coming out on September 27th, "Undefeated Woman."
We end off with Holly Beech from the Idaho Office of Refugees to help us know specific ways we can get involved to help refugees around the world and in our own communities

You don't have to fear if you prepare beforehand. Preparedness Store Owner, Rusty Kappel, tells us how to create a food storage and what things we should be collecting now in case of an emergency. Fire Fighter, Nick Magliocco, tells us how to prevent a home fire, what to do if we're caught in a fire, and how to create a fire safety plan. We also go step by step with items to put in a 72 hour kit!

It's World Suicide Prevention Day and Author Colleen Story gives a unique perspective on the topic. She shares how her experience with her father's suicide impacted her in her writing process for her new book. She also walks us through techniques to use writing to express, cope with, and overcome trauma.
I also wanted to play a past interview with a mother who lost her son to suicide and how she created a new beginning for herself.
We wrap up with some specific tips and resources on how to deal with a conversation when a friend confides suicidal thoughts to you and how to prevent suicide for yourself and others.

The final episode in the Summer Survival Series! How do you build a shelter in any type of condition? That's right- in the summer lost in the forest or in the winter lost in the snow? My brother-in-law did a winter survival class at Idaho State University where he learned how to build a shelter out of snow and survived in it overnight in -15 degree conditions without a sleeping bag! Thought it might be a useful skill to you, so I contacted his instructor, Justin Dayley, who gives us more than just shelter building tips, but tips on survival kits for all ages and first aid kit basics as well!

Alone: The Beast is a spinoff series from the same producers of Alone, but with a difficult twist. Three people are dropped in the middle of the wilderness with no food, shelter and... no SURVIVAL GEAR! They must survive for 30 days. Episode 1 took place in the arctic and today I brought on the episode champion, Lindsay Persico, to tell all the behind the scenes of her time in the arctic and share with us how she survived.
The best place to learn survival skills is from those who have had to use them!
