New year, same s**t. In fairness this is about the time of year when many people start failing their New Year's resolutions, so its no surprise that both Crunchyroll and Netflix find themselves getting bad press. MagicallyAverage and Frankfurtrter talk about the Crunchyroll accounts being leaked on social media as well as Netflix raising its subscriptions prices yet again... Oh, but at least Crunchryoll confirmed that there was no evidence of their systems being compromised, so...that's a win. Meanwhile, the anime industry globally has its largest percentage growth in 2023, reaching revenues of over $19 billion. And what do you, the loyal fans and supporters of anime, get in return? Higher subscriptions with the same quality of anime! WOOOOOOOOOO!!! Oh, and they discuss The Colors Within. Small victory.

It's always the same... Every year we openly subject ourselves to the pain and anguish created by the Crunchyroll Anime Awards. We hope, dream even, that this year will change. That things will be different and the anime that win will be the ones that rightfully deserve the award; rather, we find ourselves observing a popularity contest where the prettiest of them all takes the crown. It's always the same... But maybe, just maybe, things will be different this - Hmm? Oh, JJK might be eligible still? Yeah, no, it's still gonna be the same... Well, we'll try to stay optimistic this week as Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage review the upcoming changes to the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards and give their, albeit very early, predictions for the nominees and winners of some of the biggest categories at the awards!

Better late than never, right? WRONG! As anime fans, we are at the mercy of the studios when it comes the release of an English dub or any dub for that matter. Will it be simulcast or on a three-week delay? Will we have to wait the full season before our beloved new anime gets a dub? Or worse...will we never get a dub??? MagicallyAverage and Frankfurtter discuss the random release of English dubs for anime and the chaotic decision making of the studios on when to release English dubs. The bakabois also mourn over the anime that have yet to receive the English dub treatment. Pour one out for our girl, Bocchi.
