Anime. Ah, anime. How far the medium has come from the early days of Astro Boy and Speed Racer to the powerhouses of the present like One Piece and Attack on Titan. The World of anime has even extended beyond the borders of Japan to shows like Blue Eye Samurai and - what? Wait, that's not anime? Ok, well, we still have plenty of others like Arcane and Bee & Puppy Cat, so... Those aren't anime either? Oh, so what, anime has to be Japanese? Ok, sure, I'll believe that when, I don't know, the Crunchyroll CEO says that anime has to be Japanese. Hm? Oh he did? Well...alright then. Anyway, this week, MagicallyAverage and Frankfurtter to discuss the very odd and confusing statements made by Crunchyroll's CEO and what impact they could have on the anime industry. The duo also discuss their favorite non-anime anime shows and what it truly means to be considered an anime today!

The internet used to be such a simple place. Funny cartoon videos, MySpace, and "Top 5" lists as far as the eye can see. Want to know what the best new movies are, or what the Summer's hottest fashion items are going to be? Well, the internet had a Top 5 list to fit your need. So, in a bout of nostalgia (and a splash of laziness), Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage turn back the internet clocks to make their own Top 5 list! This time around the baka bois present their Top 5 favorite current Shonen Jump Sunday series. With My Hero Academia just having ended and a handful of other series reaching their end, the pool of Sunday Shonen series is evolving rapidly. Which series will make their list, and who will come out on top? Tune in to find out, and be sure to share your Top 5 list as well!

Art has played an important part in our World for thousands of years. From storytelling to sculpting and everything in-between, art is a staple of modern society. This is especially true for the Boss Coffee commercials starring Tommy Lee Jones (and if you know, you know). This week, MagicallyAverage and Frankfurtter talk about the importance of investing in the arts and how Japan, unsurprisingly, is setting an example for how this can be accomplished. Manga competitions highlighting the talents of elementary school students, a short animated film highlighting the beauty of a spectacularly underappreciated city, and, of course, commercials highlighting the amazing talents of one Tommy Lee Jones. These, amongst many, MANY others, are prime examples on how Japan is investing in the arts and allowing the industry to thrive!

Well, it's almost that time of the year again. The time when the secret society at Crunchyroll begin to crunch the numbers on this year's anime and try to pick winners for - Oh, oh you didn't know? The nominees eligible for the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards ends after the Summer 2024 season. So the best anime for the 2025 awards will be anime from Fall 2023 to Summer 2024. Makes perfect sense! What also makes sense is Attack on Titan winning awards for their special episode, Demon Slayer sweeping up categories for their short season, and Jujutsu Kaisen making a surprise appearance to, once again, clean up the remaining awards. (Writing this hurt me on the inside...)

Jokes aside, Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage sit down to discuss their predictions for the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards; which anime will the judges speak highly of versus which ones the baka bois feel deserve the grand prize. Which anime make their lists? And what bold predictions will be made about the upcoming award season? Be sure to share your lists with us as well!

We've all gone through this experience before; an anime you love or a manga you just can't put down, out of nowhere, gets the ax. And whether its poor viewership, abysmal sales, or a lack of fan support, fans are always left clueless as to why their favorite series is being dropped. But what if they had a second chance? What if you could revive a dead series and give it an opportunity to live yet again? This week's episode is all about series we would love to see come back for a second chance at life! Tune in to find out which manga and anime series are on their lists, and let us know what would be on yours as well!

Whenever you hear the world 'manga' you always imagine Japan, and it's obvious why! But imagine a new-age of manga where someone could think of France, Mexico, or the United States when discussing new manga and its origins. Beautiful, isn't it? Well, Viz Media would agree! Viz has launched a new program to help aspiring mangaka around the globe jump into the spotlight that has always been centered around just Japan. Viz Originals One-Shots (not an entirely creative name, but gets right to the point) is aimed at showcasing new manga creators from around the world on the Viz platform. Creating a stage this large can only spell good things for the manga world, but avoiding the mistakes that Tokyopop made when they attempted this same feat will be a challenge as well. MagicallyAverage and Frankfurtter take a look at the new program and discuss what Viz will need to look out for so they don't make those some critical errors Tokyopop made all those years ago.
