Bald Move Pulp

This week's episode, titled "The Calm Before", is anything but. Ezekiel's trade fair is finally upon us and it's one for the ages. We're gratified to see that nearly everything we predicted for this fair was right on the money. The super bus doesn't get much use but hey, there's a dunk tank! A trade fair doesn't mean this episode is a paper tiger though. The major cast shakeup proves that it's also got teeth. Join us for an extended discussion before the inevitable "storm".

It has been 25 years since Zero Cool and Acid Burn went head to head in the action-hacking thriller, Hackers and 2 years since we recorded our podcast covering the movie so we figured "why not release it again?"

Max commissioned one of his beloved films from high school (shout out to the Class of '95!), Hackers. Directed by Iain Softley and starring Jonny Lee Miller and Angelina Jolie, Hackers is a mostly ridiculous look into mid-90s hacker culture that's core plot is a rehash of Office Space, which is to say it's a rehash of Superman III. We discuss the film as contemporary computer nerds and as grown men looking back at the naivety of early hacker culture and the weird prescience the move shows.

It's a big one this week. We finally get to see why Michonne is so hell-bent on keeping Alexandria isolated from the rest of the world, and it involves the murder of a bunch of children. Don't worry, it's tastefully done. More tasteful even, than when Jackie Chan kicked those kid asses in The Karate Kid remake.

With their mission at a dead end, Butcher has to get lucky if he's going to try to track down Becca. A-Train gets an unwelcome surprise as Homelander tries to retake control of The Seven. Speaking of Homelander, that guys really messed up, right?! Finally, Huey, Annie, and MM go on roadtrip to find a long-forgotten super that they hope can help decide their next move.

Grab a pipeful of Old Toby, kick back, and join us for this 2+ hour podcast for discussion of the Tolkien lore, behind-the-scenes information, and a whole bunch of us marveling at the general impossibility of a making a movie like this.

The council is calling for Alexandria to participate in the trade fair but Michonne is still blocking it, and now Aaron's on her side. Maybe that will change once she has a chat with Negan and Judith? Henry tries to rescue Lydia and ends up needing a little rescuing himself.
