Tune in to hear the discussion of the series premiere of Ballard. Ballard is a spin-off from Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, which stars Maggie Q as Renée Ballard.
Tracey, Pete, and Mike are back on the mics, discussing their favorite moments and what they are expecting in this initial season. The reason So Many Shows chose ‘Dig Down’ as the name of the podcast is in honor of Ballard’s reminder to herself. In the series finale of Bosch: Legacy, Harry notices she has a small shovel as a keychain and asks her about it. She says it is a reminder to herself to dig down.
We meet the team surrounding Renée in the Cold Case Unit. Also known as the Open/Unsolved Unit, which operates under the LAPD’s RHD umbrella. The team consists of volunteers or reserve officers. Who investigates cases using updated methods to catch those who think they have gotten away with it.
At the start of the episode, Renée and Thomas Laffont catch a man named Windel. Back inside the office, Ballard says that she wishes it had not taken ten years to catch him. Ballard and the team dive into another case involving a John Doe. On top of that, the team is also investigating the murder of Sarah Pearlman, whose older brother, Jake, is a city councilman who started the unit back up after learning of its demise.
At the end of the episode, another case comes to the Cold Case Unit’s attention. A DNA match to another murder, Laura Wilson, and when the team look over the murder book, it is discovered that Harry Bosch was the original investigator.
Ballard also would love for a former RHD detective, Samira Parker, to join the unit as well. She and Parker have a few conversations about it in the first episode.

Renée Ballard- Maggie Q
Thomas Laffont- John Carroll Lynch
Samira Parker- Courtney Taylor
