We always talk about pretty analytical hunting tactics on the Southern Ground Hunting podcast. After all, we live in the deep south. Overthinking is a pretty common theme for deer hunters who consistently shoot bucks on public land down here. This week, however, we're going to talk about our main strategy going into the Kentucky opener...HUNT DUMB. We've been hunting this place for about 5 years now and without a doubt the people that always kill bucks are the ones hunting 100 yards from the road in the corner of a soybean field. It's almost comical to come back to camp covered in mud, blood & sweat from your hunt to find someone else at camp standing over a big buck, looking like they haven't even shed a drop of sweat. In this episode, you'll hear us recap the trip and talk about our strategy going into the hunt, as well as some changeups we made that resulted in a couple of dead deer and a great way to kick off the 2022 season!

Today we're recapping our hot, miserable trip to hunt the Tennessee Velvet Hunt. Parker's joined by Jacob Emery, Taylor Philpot, Clay Harper & Jeremy Freeman to discuss the weekends events. This was truly an incredible experience from finding out the buck exists, making a game plan with a group of like-minded hunters, and then ultimately pulling the trigger on a true world class whitetail. Unlike most hunting stories, this isn't just an individual person who got to enjoy the experience. Instead, it's a team of people who were able to successfully pull of a "team hunt" in some incredibly harsh conditions.

Josh Illderton from the Untamed joins the SGH podcast this week to talk about his strategy for hunting and killing mature bucks from the ground. Josh mixes a little bit of western strategy into his style of hunting, that he believes directly gives him more opportunity than your typical tree saddle or stand hunter. We're joined by KC Smith this week on the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast. KC is a part of The Element, another excellent hunting podcast and YouTube channel. As we continue talking about Non-Resident hunting & prepping for out of state hunts, we thought KC might have some good advice on the subject. If you're familiar with The Element, these guys travel from Texas to a bunch of different states, particularly midwestern big buck states. One thing you'll also see regularly on their channel is planning to hunt another state more than just one trip a season. They invest a lot of time each season, and sometimes even years breaking down areas as non-residents. You're going to hear about that process, and a lot more in this episode.
