Our guest this week is Jacob Lishen, who takes an extreme minimalist approach to his travel setup. In this episode Jacob is going to break down some of the gear he utilizes to camp out of his truck, but more than that we're talking about the benefits of being mobile even in your living situation on a trip. This week on the Southern Ground Hunting podcast, we're changing things up a little bit. The guys all get together for a friendly game of "Redneck Jeopardy". However, it's really nothing like Jeopardy at all. In this game each player brings a list of 3 random scenarios. All scenarios go into a hat and when it's the players turn, they draw a number and are given a hunting scenario. The player must then share how they would hunt the given scenario.

This week on the Southern Ground Hunting podcast we're hanging with some fan favorites, Michael Perry & Jamie McCay. If you don't know who these guys are, you must've been living under a rock because they are some of the best public land buck killers in the Southeast. Jamie has a reputation for consistently killing big mature Alabama bucks year after year. Michael has the same reputation, even adding a 196" Alabama giant in 2021.

This is going to be the last episode of our Turkey series for 2022 on the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast. We've really enjoyed talking about what Adam calls "The most glorious winged creature God put on the earth". This week we're going to close out with the final chapter of Parker's single season slam, as he chases merriams turkeys in Wyoming & Nebraska. It's long been said that a hunter is only as good as how he responds in the face of adversity. Typically, the merriams is one of the easier sub-species of wild turkey to hunt. The Southern Ground Hunting podcast heads west this week. Parker and his Dad recap a successful turkey hunt to the desert of west Texas. While we're usually talking about hunting turkeys on public land, most people know that it's nearly not even doable to do so in Texas. Usually, people who want to mark Texas off the list have to settle for an outfitter, which can be very expensive. However, we were able to find a couple of different properties to hunt for $0 by just making a few phone calls. Turkey culture in Texas is just altogether different. Parker admits that he did not appreciate the wild turkey while being raised out there, but it was time to come back to the old stompin' grounds to pay this bird the respect it deserves. If you've never given Texas a shot, you really should consider it. We promise you won't regret it!
