I'm so excited to feature Stephanie Crowder today! She's been a member of the Fizzle.Co Team for a couple years and I'm an avid fan of theirs! You'll find out more about that in a bit. More importantly to today's conversation, Stephanie recently started a gem of a podcast called "Courage & Clarity." In fact, she interviewed me for it and recently published those episodes too!
Today, she and I talk about duh, courage & clarity and how they play on each other and balance each other out. We also chat about how we can find that courage and clarity to do meaningful work in the world. It's so good. I know you'll enjoy hearing her own personal experiences and learning curves because she's got a great perspective as a new mom, and a workin' career gal who recently "jumped ship" to join a smaller team.
Towards the end of our chat, Steph and I talk about this killer guide and workbook that she's pulled together for you! The link for that and anything else we mention are in the show notes for this episode over at barenakedbravery.com
I love this gal and I know you will too. Let's jump on in and talk with Steph Crowder.

This episode is near and dear to my heart. I know it's kind of weird to talk about your relationship to food on a bravery podcast for creatives, but here we are. If you've listened to the show for awhile, you've probably already heard me mention my own story with an eating disorder. I spent years and years NOT listening to my intuition and then years and years re-teaching myself all about it. As we explain later, there's actually a LOT in this intersection of topics of bravery, food, and creativity.
Today Marisa Molina joins us to talk about intuition and how our relationship with food can assist or drag the rest of our life and creativity down. Intuition is such a huge factor in being brave and I'm so glad her expertise in this is here for us.
Marisa Molina helps people to transform their relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves so they can eat, love and live freely. She teaches people how to use mindfulness and awareness to move past mental blocks that keep them from reaching their goals and to face challenges with ease. Marisa is the founder of Hello Beautiful Health, a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and has a Master's Degree in Public Health, concentrated in Epidemiology. Prior to starting Hello Beautiful Health, she spent 10 years in public health research and 5 managing an Obesity Prevention Research Study for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Marisa knows what's up. Take some notes y'all. This is a good one.
Brave Take-Aways
Okay, so beyond your free Bravery Bundle, your Brave Take-Away from today's show is to take your next meal as an opportunity to ask yourself some of the questions about intuition that Marisa mentioned here. What do you really want? How much of it?
We'd love to hear all about your favorite parts of today's Bare Naked Bravery. You can find Marisa Molina and myself on facebook, twitter, instagram, and more. Go ahead and tag us so we can cheer you on and see what you're up to.

It seems like everyone I'm talking with about becoming a client of mine is back peddling and turning away. What do I do?" Ohhh girl. Boy are y'all in for a treat today! Emilie Wapnick is here! She's the founder and facilitator of the Puttytribe Community and Puttylike blog! Turns out she and I have a LOT in common, we both live on islands. We both have given TED talks. We are both INFJ's and I'm sure there's a lot more out too. Please go watch her TED talk which is linked in the show notes for this episode. It's worth it.
Emilie Wapnick is a writer, career coach, blogger, and community leader. She is the founder and creative director at Puttylike.com, where she helps multipotentialites (people with many passions and creative pursuits) integrate all of their interests to create dynamic, fulfilling, and fruitful careers and lives. Unable to settle on one path herself, Emilie studied music, art, film production and law, graduating from the Law Faculty at McGill University.
Emilie's TED talk has been viewed over 4.2 million times, and has been translated into 36 languages. She's been featured in Fast Company, Forbes, Financial Times, The Huffington Post, BBC, and Lifehacker.
But also! She just put out this fantastic book titled, "How to Be Everything: A Guide for Those Who (Still) Don't Know What They Want to Be When They Grow Up" You know how I'm always saying that the world needs your bravery? Well, it's books like this that prove my point. The world is filled with multipotentialites who really need this book. What's a multipotentialite?
That's what Emilie and I discuss today! We also discuss the 4 most common work models of multipotentialites and their contributions to the world! It's really exciting to have a book and a community like this out in the world because we flat-out need it. In today's episode, Emilie and I also talk about some of the imposter syndrome she's encountered during the book publishing process and everything that follows, she's got some really solid advice to offer us today and also in her new book. Get excited! Here's Emilie Wapnick!
Brave Take-AwaysOkay, so beyond the Bare Naked Bravery Adult Coloring Book, your Brave Take-Away from today's show is to look back over your life and career journey... Which of the 4 work models (Group Hug, Slash, Einstein, and Phoenix Approaches) have you adopted? Which were your favorites? What kind of changes would you need to make to your current work model approach to turn it into a support system for your bravery? Of course, any and all answers you'd like to share are welcome in our Facebook Group! We want to hear what you thought!
Even if you're not a member of our Facebook group (which you can join by downloading your free Bravery Bundle from barenakedbravery.com) You can find Emilie Wapnick and myself on facebook, twitter, instagram, and more. Go ahead and tag us so we can cheer you on and see what you're up to.

Fellow Bare Naked Bravery community member submitting this stellar question for this week, "How do you balance self-care with self-discipline?" Suuuuch a good question! So that's what I dive into today. Where is the line between kindness, compassion, and getting uncomfortable? Do they belong together? Let's find out!

Today is going to be an adventure, that's for sure.
After overcoming drug addiction, a diagnosis of PTSD after the war in Iraq, and a battle with alcohol that pushed him to the brink of suicide, Akshay has since explored the most hostile environments on the planet and built a global business helping people live limitless lifestyles. Combining years of research in neuroscience and psychology with his life experience, Akshay wrote the book "Fearvana: The Revolutionary Science of How to Turn Fear Into Health, Wealth and Happiness."
I wanted to have Akshay join us because 1) he was nominated to the show by a previous guest and Bare Naked Bravery community member, David Shriner-Cahn but 2) we haven't featured a perspective of PTSD yet and I really appreciated Akshay's particular experience and journey in this. Also, 3) the Dalai Lama wrote the foreword to his book and I really wanted to know how that came about!
I think you'll really enjoy this. Let's make like a skydiver and jump on into it!

Over the last couple weeks I've seen this happen a lot: my creative friend will go on vacation, work maybe 1 hour everyday while away only to return to a super hugely financially profitable week! Why does this happen?! And how have I been able to be soooo productive? It's allll about the 80/20 Pareto Principle. 80% of the results come from 20% of the effort. That's what we're talking about today on this week's peep show mini episode!

Okay guys get ready for a really intimate conversation this week. Today we have the privilege of hearing a really tender side of Holli Margell's experience as a photographer and specifically as a daughter of someone who died from breast cancer.
A side note: Holli and I don't talk about this really in the episode, but I know it's really timely to mention that providing places for women to get cancer screenings and regular checkups with a doctor is SO important. I am an avid supporter of Planned Parenthood for this very reason. Unfortunately, the accessibility of this service is being threatened with our current political climate. This is why for anyone who leaves a review in iTunes saying how much they appreciate Holli's vulnerability, then I will donate $10 from my personal bank account to Planned Parenthood. So leave a review and I'll donate $10 to ensure cancer screenings are accessible and affordable.
Click here to leave a review
Okay, back to Holli. You guys are going to adore her. She has such a kind a generous spirit which I know comes through in her parenting, and life as a mompreneur and owner of Native Light Photography which is based out of the Seattle area.
Oh and guess what! This is so cool. Remember Nathan Vass? the artist and bus driver we interviewed a couple weeks back in episode 42? Well *he* nominated Holli to appear on Bare Naked Bravery. and if you'll remember *he* was nominated by a fellow BNB listener! This is 4th degree Bravery right here! So freaking cool.
So let's jump into it. Take a deep breath 'cause this one's worth listening up for. Without further ado, I give you Holli Margell.
Brave Take-AwaysYour main Brave-Take Away for today's episode is to do what I mentioned earlier in the episode. For every review you leave in iTunes mentioning this episode, I will donate $10 to Planned Parenthood to ensure cancer screenings are accessible and affordable.
Your secondary Brave-Take Away is to get yourself screened. Make an appointment with a doctor to make sure you've got the preventative measures taken care of. I know that's not a really sexy homework assignment, but this is the stuff that makes the world go round. This is how bravery really is. It's not sexy. Sometimes it's covered in sniffles, tears, and tissues and isn't always glamorous.

Seriously, it helps us out a lot more than it is a hassle for you. All this bravery deserves to be spread as far and wide as possible. *You're* a part of all that!

The lovely @libby_bryant (from Instagram) asks, "How do you put yourself out there if you don't know exactly what you want? Should you just wait until you're 100% clear?" This is a question we ALL face as creatives, which makes it a perfect one for today. Emily Ann answers with personal experience and hopefully some extra pizzaz too!
