This has just been something that has been on my heart recently and I wanted to share my thoughts with the world.

Sometimes you meet people in life who genuinely intrigue you, and those individuals have such a fascinating story to tell that you can't wait to hear it. The person that was on this week's podcast is one of those individuals, and that is Shayne Adams. Shayne's life has been somewhat tumultuous from his upbringing and his family life, to a motorcycle crash that has changed the whole course of his life. Being able to share in his life challenges and his life outlook was an honor, and I hope you all enjoy listening to his words as much as I enjoyed his presence recording this episode.

This week I was fortunate enough to speak with Jay Boren about his life and was able to unearth a lot of fascinating things about him. He shared his thoughts on the Superbowl half time show, his views on marriage and relationships. He even shared his upbringing and what actually brought him to where he is now and the drive that he has always had to achieve something more. His insight and opinion were awesome to hear, and I hope we hear much more from him in the future.

This is the first episode we ever recorded. It was before there was a Barely Qualified and the show was called Ph.D. Radio. We aren't doctors, but the first few letters of our names would make up (PH)ilip and (D)eshani. It was recorded in 2015 when we bought our first microphone and just wanted to make a podcast. We had a few alcoholic beverages and just started talking about the news. One mic, horrible levels, genuine levels of amazingness, and insight.

Sometimes you are fortunate enough to get a whole perspective on life, religion, child development, and so much more. When you have that moment, they are rarely recorded, and you are unable able to revisit them. Fortunately, we have the technology, and such a perspective was captured by my friend Jacob Pierce. Jacob has a unique perspective on life, his spirituality and his general outlook on how he treats people on a day to day basis. Upbringing is what shapes children into who they are going to become. In this instance, his unique perspective shines a light into a path that most of us have not taken. Enjoy this deep dive into a sound mind and soul on this week's episode!

Welcome to the first episode of 2020 for Barely Qualified! Inside of this episode, we have the return of Raymond Pierce (Ruthless Ray) coming through and dropping his wisdom and his unique perspective. We are back.

Sometimes you meet people who can formulate words or thoughts in such a way that it is utterly captivating. Even though you aren't consciously waiting for them to speak, your subconscious can't get enough of what they are saying. This week's episode embodies that premise. Charles McCaskill is a poet, a writer, self published author, and one hundred percent authentically himself. He takes us on a journey through his past and what has led him to be so active in the poetry scene and his community at large. He shares insights into his communities history and takes us on a chilling overview of the Equal Justice Initiative's memorial in Montgomery, Alabama.
