BART has hired a contractor to install new fare gates at its stations as it tries to crack down on fare evaders while making trains safer. The agency has been struggling to get riders back, with many saying safety on the system is an issue. KCBS Radio news anchors Bret Burkhart and Patti Reising spoke with KCBS insider Phil Matier for his thoughts on whether or not the new gates will improve safety on BART.
