For the first time since April 6, 2021, James Paxton is pitching in a major league game. The big lefty makes his first start with the Red Sox after battling through Tommy John surgery and other ailments for the past three seasons. Bradfo sit down with Paxton to talk about his journey to this point and what it means to him.
It's that time of week: Power Ranking time. For the third time this season, Producer Evan is rolling out his Top 10 teams in Major League Baseball. Except this time he is being challenged - and countered - one of the key voices for one of the key teams, the guy who covers all things Orioles for Barstool Sports, Eric Arditti (@editti22). The two go back and forth, going from No. 10 to No. 1. Will the O's get the top spot? Are the Padres going to be on the outside looking in again? Are the Red Sox for real? The streets are talking and so are Bradfo, Producer Evan and the man who is finally seeing his Orioles fandom pay off.
Kenley Jansen joined Bradfo on the day the Red Sox closer notched his 400th career save to answer simple question: Is he better than ever? And if he is at the top of his game at 35 years old, how did he make that happen? Bradfo asks and Kenley answers.
Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos makes his return to Baseball Isn't Boring, offering his viewpoint on the impact of contract extension, explaining why May trades are rarely made and the merits of ketchup-flavored potato chips. Bradfo then catches up with Charlie Morton, who offers unique insight into just how important all of those extensions are to the Braves' clubhouse. We finish things off with a revealing interview with Kenley Jansen on the day he became just the sixth reliever to notch 400 saves.
Aaron Nola appeared on the Baseball Isn't Boring podcast and then proceeded to pitch well. That's how it works. Nola joined Bradfo to talk about why baseball isn't boring, how he views the business of baseball and his admitted addiction to the postseason. After holding the Blue Jays to two runs over six innings, the Phillies pitcher deserved to be highlighted.
The attention. The criticism. The Tweets. The tickets. The journey. The perspective and stories coming from someone related to anyone in Major League Baseball is unique, which is something that Red Sox hitting coach Pete Fatse and his brother, T.J., have come to find out more which each passing day. The brothers join Bradfo to reflect on what it is like to live this life - revealing all the good, bad and unexpected. It is the first episode of a new Baseball Isn't Boring feature, "Relatively Speaking" and it's a good one.
Bryce Harper has become an iconic player in Major League Baseball, with his recent comeback only cementing that. Bradfo caught up with the Phillies star to talk about how he views looking up to others, whether it be himself or those - such as Red Sox outfielder Masa Yoshida - who have identified Harper as their role model. Harper also gives us his explanation of why baseball isn't boring. To listen to the entire podcast Harper joined - with Brandon Marsh and Aaron Nola also appearing - click here.
Brandon Marsh still can't believe he has played alongside Mike Trout and Bryce Harper. Living life in the postseason has left Aaron Nola with the kind of motivation he never thought he would have. And Harper has found himself in a place few athletes end up in, that of a hero and icon. All three sit down with Bradfo to offer their unique perspectives on living their most unusual lives, the likes of which most can only dream about.
Marvin Harrison Jr. might be the best college football player in the land right now. The wide receiver out of Ohio State could very well be the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. But he also loves himself some baseball, which is why Bradfo caught up to Harrison Jr. to talk about the great game and his thoughts on it. One of the unexpected takes? He actually thinks hitting a home run is more exciting than scoring a touchdown. Discuss ...
What a weekend! Mookie homers. The Rays roll (again). An epic pregame standoff. And what a week it's going to be! There is no better way to brace yourself for another flurry of baseball awesomeness than with Bradfo's sit-down with Justin Turner, whose perspective on a baseball season is unrivaled. And just for good measure, our host also catches up with maybe the best college football player in all the land - Marvin Harrison Jr. - to get his view of baseball vs. football. It's a fantastic way to kick off your week.
