  • 223 - Follow-Up on the Pro-Life March

This week Ray Jewell and I follow-up on our experience last week at the Madison March for Life. Ray and I chat about the march itself and our thoughts on last week's interview with Dan Sande. I'll also air a few clips from some of the "interesting" protestors we came across. That will explain why we're changing our name to the Basic Baby Podcast where apparently we talk about dead babies...

  • 221 - When Men Have Miscarriages

This week on the podcast we're chatting with Dave Deets about his new book, When Men Have Miscarriages. Here's a quick description, "It is estimated that nearly half of all pregnancies will end in miscarriage. This is devastating for the couple as they endure the loss of their unborn child. For men however, there is often a silent pain that is never expressed or acknowledged. The story that Dave shares of his family's journey through multiple miscarriages is meant to be an encouragement and help to the thousands of men who have dealt with the trauma of miscarriage in silence. This book is real, it is raw, and it is relevant. Dave's heart is that this book will bring a topic to the table that for years has needed to be discussed and will allow the conversation to move forward with grace."

  • 219 - The Word Matters

This week we are welcoming back author Dave Jenkins to the podcast to chat about his latest book, the Word Matters. A book on Biblical authority is much needed today as the church is lead by, it seems, anything other than Scripture. Trust me, after listening to this episode, you are going to want to buy this book right away. We only skip the surface here...

  • 217 - Corporate Worship, Part 1

This week we welcome back Evangelist Ben Everson to the podcast. This time we are chatting about corporate worship. When we sing to the Lord when come together each week, what are some principles to keep in mind? We talk about to what degree church music is to be considered a "performance" and allowing the Spirit to work even within a programmed schedule of music. What is the role of the worship leader and what is the role of the individual worshipper? These are just some of things we cover in this conversation. The conversation went so well, we had to break this up into two parts. As a special bonus, my son Tommy appears at the end of this podcast to talk about what he enjoys about Ben's music.

  • 214 - Recovering Fundamentalism

I grew up within the Independent Fundamental Baptist movement - a movement founded upon defending the core doctrines of the Christian faith but now has become known more for legalism, isolationism, and oftentimes anti-intellectualism. Yet, we are seeing more and more people seeing the light of grace and walking away from this background. In the midst of this is the Recovering Fundamentalist Podcast that has been a blessing to many people who still cling to the faith but don't want the legalism of their past and see themselves thirsty for true Bible doctine. Joining us this week is one of the co-hosts of this podcast, Nathan Cravatt. I had a ton of fun chatting with Nathan so you won't want to miss this conversation!
