Cities from New York to North Carolina experienced eery orange skies from Canada wildfires last week, much like what happened in the Bay Area in 2020. Forecast models suggest more wildfire smoke could swing back to the northeast part of the US again in the coming days.

There is a collective sigh of relief at the Port of Oakland today, following news that West Coast dockworkers have reached a tentative contract agreement. A person of interest has been detained in connection with a 3-alarm fire at a Public Storage facility in San Jose. Storage unit renters are still waiting to count their losses after that fire that destroyed much of the building. Eradicating elder abuse can't be done unless "steps" are taken to protect seniors. 

The Supreme Court has upheld the Indian Child Welfare Act.  The conservation conversation is flowing in the East Bay. Water agencies and water users are trading ideas and sustainable innovations. This morning, fire crews remain on the scene of a 3-alarm fire at a public storage facility in south San Jose that broke out yesterday evening.  Texas Governor Gregg Abbott is claiming credit for sending a bus of 42 to migrants from his state to Los Angeles. Now, it's just a signature from the Governor of Nevada that stands in the way of a funding bill that would build a new stadium for the Oakland A’s in Las Vegas.

Some help is on its way to victims of crimes in San Mateo County. The Oakland A's cleared a major hurdle for their planned relocation to Las Vegas when the Nevada Legislature gave its final approval yesterday to public funding for a portion of a proposed $1.5 Billion stadium on the Strip. The deal still needs the governor's signature and MLB still has to approve the A’s move to Las Vegas, but it looks like there's nothing standing in the way of those things happening. But, two Bay Area Congressmembers have filed the "Moneyball Act"  in protest of the A's plan to relocate. The US Surgeon General has issued an advisory on the negative health impacts social media can have on teens, especially when it comes to interrupting their sleep.

The Republican presidential race is starting to get crowded and the newest person to jump into the fray is Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.
