BART is facing a very large and a very real fiscal cliff, it’s the number one topic at their upcoming Board of Directors workshop. A new report is throwing into stark relief just how wide Silicon Valley’s wealth gap has grown. LinkedIn is the latest tech company to announce a round of layoffs, this is another example of the tough times the Bay Area tech industry is experiencing.

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors held a special hearing this morning to consider declaring a local homeless housing crisis and the creation of two sanctioned camps on two county properties. Good news for renters, as the Bay Area’s housing market has cooled so has the monthly tab to rent. Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are expected this afternoon and evening across the Bay Area…and there has already been some damage done in San Francisco.

In San Francisco, a local café also serves as a civic and political venue, and on this presidents day, they are celebrating by hosting a 16 hour reading of the Jan. 6th report. In San Rafael, many low income residents and senior citizens living in mobile homes and RV’s are worried for their housing options after finding out that they will be evicted by the property owner. As boomers enter retirement, the financial burden for loved ones is becoming steep.

In other parts of the Bay, some houses are selling for under the asking price, but KCBS Radio's Jennifer Hodges warns to know your buyer. After the storm comes the potholes, many cities in the Bay Area have been calling their cities to try and fix the roads. San Francisco is named one of the hardest working cities in the nation, why this is a double edged sword.
