The latest poll done by the Institute of Government Studies at UC Berkeley asked Californians about their fear of becoming a victim of gun violence. A 77th birthday is being celebrated in Berkeley tomorrow with a 77 piece improvisational ensemble. Also in the East Bay, Matt Bigler brings us the details on Alameda County's decision to end pandemic eviction protections. Mike Dewald lets us know that the Sierra is still blizzard out, with many road closures and tens of thousands without power. Speaking of roads, San Francisco is trying to refocus its Vision Zero program, an attempt to bring traffic fatality rates down to 0 by 2024. Kris Ankarlo has more. Cathy Whitman checked out the details of a new rideshare study that alleges some drivers are deactivated wihtout cause, and that this disproportionately affects BIPOC drivers.

The idea of sanctuary could be changing in San Francisco as the board of supervisors  debate a change to deny asylum to undocumented immigrants in specific cases. Today marks the end of California’s COVID State of Emergency, but, for the region’s restaurant industry the pandemic shocks are still far from over. The price tag to repair damage done by the recent storms in the city of Capitola has jumped considerably but that’s not expected to slow down the process to rebuild the wharf.

A federal judge is giving Oakland the go-ahead to begin clearing the last holdouts of huge homeless encampment and the courtroom battle over the Wood Street camp is finally over. Too much of a good thing shuts down ski resorts across the Sierra. Residents of the Town of Belvedere are howling over a runaway coyote population, attacking small pets, coming into their yards and making barking, squealing sounds at night .BART Board member Lateefah Simon has announced her candidacy for Congress, seeking the seat now held by longtime East Bay Congresswoman Barbara Lee. Did you get a shock when you opened your PG and E bill?  You are not alone.  KCBS Radio's Margie Shafer reports natural gas prices are really high - but just in California and the West Coast. Rain is continuing to come down on the Bay Area and while that's great news for the area when it comes to the drought it's not great for driving conditions. The CHP is urging motorists to slow down and be extra cautious while driving in rainy conditions. Police in Oakland are responding to a wave of violence that swept the city over the weekend. Kris Ankarlo reports the city saw its homicide rate jump by 30 percent in little more than a day. A group of mom and pop property owners in Alameda County say they are being cheated by the Pandemic Eviction Moratorium Law. Cathy Whitman investigates why they're asking the Board of Supervisors to end the program. 

There are plans to establish a public bank in the East Bay, with the aim of protecting local residents from discriminatory banking practices. For more on this, our anchors spoke to Gayle McLaughlin, Vice Mayor of Richmond.
