  • 773. Loving Locomotive: a kids’ mindful tale and relaxation
Alex the Toy Train Engine sees love all around his house.

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 4:13

    Loving Locomotive Excerpt:
In a cozy house on Ahway Island, sunshine danced through the windows. Colorful rugs warmed its floors, and its walls were painted in cheerful pastels. Inside this house lived a little electric train named Alex. Alex was a lucky engine because he had an enormous track to travel. He could go to any room he wanted to, thanks to the special route that had been built for him. These tracks weaved their way around the house up near the ceiling, and they even had secret tunnels that connected one room to another. That meant Alex could go on exciting adventures all around.
One morning, the little girl flipped Alex’s switch, and Alex’s wheels started to spin. With a joyful “Chug-a-chug-a choo choo,” he began his journey through the house. He followed the curving tracks in the hallway, and then he entered the dark tunnel just ahead.

  • 772. The Cheerful Cardinal: a relaxing bedtime story for children
Carrie Cardinal notices that Owen isn't quite himself today, and decides to cheer him up.

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 3:53

    The Cheerful Cardinal Excerpt:
It was a gloomy, cloudy fall afternoon on Ahway Island. Owen was looking out the window, bored. Being on fall break from school, Owen thought he was going to be able to play outside today. Owen’s parents said that he would have to play inside. His mom thought it looked like it was going to rain today, and she didn’t want Owen to get muddy and wet. Owen didn’t really see what the problem was because he thought playing in the rain seemed like a fun idea. But his mom had already made upher mind. So, instead of playing outside, Owen sat by the window, wishing he could be outside playing with his toys.

Carrie Cardinal sat on her branch in the maple tree outside Owen’s window. She often spent her time looking into Owen’s window. The world of humans often fascinated her. As she peered into the window, she saw Owen longingly looking outside. She wondered why a bright, energetic little boy looked so glum. She sat there and thought and thought. She remembered seeing Owen frequently play with his toys outside and wondered why he wasn’t outside today. Maybe, the reason why he wasn’t outside had something to do with why he looked so glum.
Today’s Meditation: Imagine that you are a graceful willow tree in today's meditation.

  • 369. Bouncing Dragon: a soothing meditation and bedtime story
Ready to explore the sky a bit more, Dragon flies up to the clouds. Soon a bouncing dragon giggles among the clouds, discovering their secrets.
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Bouncing Dragon,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 9:50

    Bouncing Dragon Excerpt:
Dragon stepped out of the cave and looked up. Several fluffy clouds dotted the bright blue sky. They gently coasted across with just enough space between to allow the sun to sprinkle the forest floor with light. Looking up past the treetops Dragon smiled and reminisced about napping on the cozy cloud. Then, wondering what more there was to see among the clouds, Dragon decided to explore.
Dragon opened both wings wide and, jumping upwards, simultaneously pushed them down towards the earth. With a few more flaps Dragon lifted up, up, up. Gerry Robin spotted Dragon soaring upward and decided to join her friend in flight. The little Robin sang with happiness as she flitted about Dragon. Dragon smiled and pointed to the clouds. Gerry’s eyes opened wide. She had never flown that high before. “Will you tell me what you see?” She asked. Dragon nodded as Gerry landed in the treetops.
Today’s Meditation: Today, notice loving energy flowing through your body, from your feet up to your head.

  • 771. Statue Statue: a meditation and bedtime story
Riley Raccoon is bored, so Rebel and Rob Raccoon introduce him to a new game!

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 3:36

    Statue Statue Excerpt:
On a dusky evening on Ahway Island in the lush green forest, a gentle breeze softly wafted through trees, rustling the leaves. The moon overhead was full and bright, casting a warm glow on everything below. A chorus of crickets sang an energetic tune while a quartet of frogs harmonized in splendid song. By all accounts, it was a perfect evening.

Riley raccoon laid lazily by the babbling brook, absentmindedly watching the current of the water carry leaves and twigs downstream as they bobbled this way and that. His best friends, Rob raccoon and Rebel raccoon, laid nearby, feeling equally as lazy. Truth be told, they were all bored. They hadn’t done much all day because it had been quite warm. Now that the cool of the evening was upon them, they started to perk up. It was time to find something to do.

    “I’m bored.” Riley exclaimed.

  • 769. Playful Performance: a meditation and kid’s tale
Clara Clarinet is about to perform in her first concert, but she has a bit of stage fright.

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 3:48

    Playful Performance Excerpt:
Clara the clarinet was snug in her velvety case, feeling a gentle sway as her little girl carried her. Clara had been a part of her little girl's life for a while now, sharing music lessons and practicing at home together. But today was no ordinary day; it was a day Clara had been awaiting for a long time. Today was her very first concert with her little girl.
Clara's heart fluttered with excitement as they made their way to the concert. At last, the gentle swaying came to a halt, and Clara's case popped open, revealing her little girl's beaming face. Clara couldn't help but beam back with delight. Her little friend was dressed in a pretty black dress, and with great care, she lifted Clara from her cozy case. Clara saw that they were in the music room. It was filled with all sorts of instruments, from shiny trumpets to elegant violins, and even some gleaming saxophones. The room buzzed with excitement as young musicians, like Clara's little girl, got ready for their big performance.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Robot Build,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 8:04

    Robot Build Excerpt:
After dinner, Billy examined the instruction book one more time. He and Emily were going to build their robot today and he wanted to be prepared. As Billy read the instructions his little sister bounded down the hall. “Are you ready?” she asked sliding to a stop right next to her brother’s chair.
“I think I’d better read the manual one more time.” Billy said. He wanted to make the perfect robot.
Emily sighed. She knew her big brother had already read the manual twice. Emily also knew the look on Billy’s face. He needed to read it one more time. So even though Emily was eager to get started, she decided she would let her brother finish reading the instructions before suggesting that they begin the build. Instead she decided to try something else. “While you’re reading, I’ll organize the parts.” Emily suggested.
“Good idea!” Billy said as he turned to the last page of instructions.

One sunny afternoon at Ahway Island Animal Sanctuary, Hettie Hippo stood under a giant maple tree near her pond home. The tree’s branches were covered with leaves of all sorts of dazzling hues – bright red, sunny yellow, and warm orange. Hettie loved this time of year because it turned the world into a canvas of pretty colors.

As Hettie admired the magnificent tree and its vibrant leaves, a familiar voice called out her name. “Hettie, we’re here!” It was Janine Giraffe, who trotted over with Oliver Elephant trailing behind her.

“Sorry we’re a bit late,” Oliver said apologetically, “we got distracted by some beautiful butterflies.”

Some forest animals come across Dragon having a snooze!

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 3:58

    Dozing Dragon Excerpt:
In the wee hours of the morning, all of Ahway Island was calm. Waves gently rolled in on the beach. A soft breeze rustled the leaves on the trees in the animal sanctuary. The town sat quiet and serene with only an occasional vehicle vrooming toward its destination. In the very center of the Enchanted Forest, Dragon snoozed peacefully as sunlight began to peek over the horizon. It was very early morning, and the forest was just beginning to wake up.

As Dragon gently snored, shades of gray and purple sky turned to pink and orange and finally bright white as the brilliant sun emerged, warming the air and evaporating the overnight dew that had accumulated on the leaves of the trees and plants below.

    Wild Wheels Excerpt:
Winfield the wheelchair and Brian watched from the sidewalk as a group of kids played tag on the bumpy field. Brian sighed. The little wheelchair understood. Brian wanted to play too, but Winfield’s wheels were too thin, and they would either sink into the soft grass or tip over. As they watched, the kids noticed Brian. Anora asked, “Hi Brian! Do you want to play with us?”
Ian added before Brian could respond, “Let’s move over to the pavement, then Brian will be able to move better.”
Brian smiled and said, “Thanks!” and joined in the game. Winfield helped Brian roll quickly through the group. Winfield smiled as he hard Brian’s laughter blend in with the others. Once everyone had a chance being “it” they all said goodbye and left for dinner. As they rolled home, Winfield thought about the kids playing on the grass. The wheelchair wished that he could carry Brian anywhere. Maybe he just needed different wheels.

Tanya Sea Turtle goes exploring and finds a sunken ship. Will she find any treasure?

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 3:47

A Different Kind of Treasure Excerpt:
It was a clear and still night out on the ocean. The moon’s silvery glow reflected on the water’s surface, swaying back and forth, back and forth. Tanya the Sea Turtle glided through the waves with grace and purpose. She loved exploring, and she often ventured beyond Ahway Island’s colorful reef and seaweed forests. Nighttime was her favorite time to explore the ocean’s secrets.

Tonight was a perfect night for adventure. The ocean was alive with beauty. As Tanya swam away from her comfy turtle nest, she watched the coral cast dancing shadows on the seabed and tiny fish dart in and out of the seaweed. Further and further she swam. The moonlight from above shined through the waves, making everything look magical.
