Dragon plays in the mud on the way to visit Terry and Charlie Truck.
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “The Puddle Stomp” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 10:12

    The Puddle Stomp Excerpt:
Light sparkled through the trees as the sun slowly climbed above the enchanted forest. A sunbeam slowly flowed into the dragon’s cave until it reached the dragon asleep on its mossy bed.  The dragon blinked and opened its eyes. It was time to get up! With a stretch the dragon rolled off its bed.  Bright sunlight filled the cave’s entrance and the dragon could feel it was a beautiful morning.  A walk through the woods would be wonderful.  The dragon stepped outside and looked at the trees.  Light green buds and even leaves had formed.  Then the dragon stopped and took a deep dragon breath in and out smelling the air.  A song danced into the dragon’s ear and the dragon smiled. Gerry robin had returned.  It really was Spring! The dragon relaxed and listened to the birds singing, the brook trickling, and in the distance the dragon heard a familiar rumbling sound.

The rumbling sound grew louder as the dragon approached the edge of the woods. Just as the dragon thought, there were two trucks driving carefully on a wide path at the edge of the forest.  As the dragon watched water sprayed up on both sides of the trucks as they drove through deep puddles left by the melting snow and the spring rain. Mud coated the sides of the two trucks, but the dragon knew it was Charlie and Terry.  The two trucks found a dry patch of land and stopped so that their drivers could get out and have breakfast.  Now that the people had moved away it would be a good time to visit the trucks.

Kit Cat likes to sit in the window of the Ahway Island Animal Shelter. Maybe sitting in the window will help her find her forever home!

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 4:34
    Window Cat Excerpt:

Kit Cat yawned. It was a warm, sleepy afternoon, and the little cat was enjoying lounging in her favorite spot in the Ahway Island Animal Shelter – the big front window of the Shelter. Kit stretched as she lounged in the sunlight. This was a sleepy time of day for almost all the animals in the Shelter, and for the Shelter volunteers, too. Annie, one of the volunteers, was drinking coffee at her desk and yawning. Seeing Annie yawn made Kit yawn again.

Kit’s eyes drifted shut as she started to doze off again. But after a couple of moments, Kit opened her eyes again. She had heard a sound coming from outside the window. Kit turned her head toward the window to see what the noise was. There, standing on the sidewalk outside, was a dark-haired woman. She was gazing into the window, looking right at Kit. When the woman saw that Kit had noticed her, the woman waved her fingers at Kit. Kit blinked her eyes sleepily, still not totally awake.

Mike goes for a hike with Ian's family. As everyone winds through the trees Mike worries about being left behind.
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Wait For Me!” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 10:53

    Wait For Me! Excerpt:
Mike knocked on Ian’s door as he waited excitedly with his dad for it to open.  Today Mike and Ian were going for a hike in the woods with Ian’s parents.  The door opened and Ian smiled at Mike and asked,  Are you ready?”

“You bet!” Mike said to Ian.

“I’ll see you later” Mike’s dad said smiling.  Ian’s parents let Mike’s dad know everything was ok before he turned to walk home.

The friends followed Ian’s mom and dad on a path to the edge of the woods.  “Ok here we go!” Ian’s mom said.  She weaved through the opening in the branches and gently held them out of the way.  After all four were through the forest entryway Mike stopped and looked around.  Unlike the sidewalk where he could see everything around him.  The woods were more secretive.  He turned to look for Ian’s mom, who was leading them, and she had disappeared!  Where could she be?  Suddenly, Ian’s mom appeared again.  Mike took a deep dragon breath in and out.  He hadn’t seen her because of a large tree.  Mike realized he would need to stay close to know where everyone was.  The group wandered a little further into the woods.  Mike looked down and walked slowly, careful not to trip over any tree roots.  When he looked up, Ian was further ahead. Mike hurried to catch up, he didn’t want to be left behind.  Everything was so mysterious here, Mike didn’t know how he would make it out of the forest if he lost his guides.

Shayla Shark finds a place where she feels she belongs with the help of her good friend Sean Shark.

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 4:38
    A Safe Sea Excerpt:

It was a hot day on Ahway Island. The sun was shining brightly, bringing all the sea creatures out to play. The water was a beautiful azure blue, just like the sky above it. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky. In fact, the only visible bits of white dotting the sky were the feathers of the playful seagulls flying above the sparkling waters.

Today, Shayla Shark was swimming around the coral reef, not too far from her home, and not far from the Ahway Island shoreline. It was nice and warm near the shallow waters, so Shayla loved to swim around the reef. As she swam, Shayla was careful not to bump into the beautiful, living coral that was part of the reef.

Shayla was an elegant gray reef shark with a pointy triangular tail and wide mouth full of sharp teeth. To many, she  looked a little intimidating. But she was actually very friendly. Some of the creatures that lived around the coral reef knew how friendly she was, like Salvador Sea Lion, who would wave to her from the sand on the beach.

Chance Cardboard Box almost gets recycled. How can the kids make sure it doesn't happen again?
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Colorful Cardboard” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 8:38

    Colorful Cardboard Excerpt:
A sunbeam shone through the living room window and hugged the kitty sleeping inside the cardboard box.  The little kitty stretched and yawned. Then he gracefully hopped out of the box to find breakfast. Mom quickly moved through the living room as if she was on a special mission and stopped abruptly when she noticed Chance.  “It is time for that box to be recycled.”  Mom said, and she quickly picked Chance up.  The cardboard box wondered what it meant to be recycled, as mom set him in a green bin and closed the lid.

Chance looked around. The bin was filled with cardboard, paper, and aluminium scraps. The cardboard box wondered where the boy and girl were.  What if they wanted to have another adventure?  Did they know where to find him?  Chance took a deep dragon breath in and out and hoped that the boy and girl would be ok as he started a new adventure.  Just then the lid opened and Chance heard, “There he is!”  The girl pulled the cardboard box out, as her brother held the recycle lid open.  Chance sighed with relief and looked back at the recycle bin.  There was an island on it and a name, but he was quickly whisked out of the garage before the cardboard box could read the name.

Morgan Mole learns the importance of self care from their new friend, Diana Duck

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 5:06
    Relaxing Riverbank Excerpt:

It was a very sunny day on Ahway Island. Green tree branches swayed in the gentle breeze. The birds flew and fluttered through the wind, happy that the sun was out.

It seemed everyone in the Ahway Island Forest was out and about, enjoying the beautiful weather. Everyone that is, except Morgan Mole, who was hard at work digging tunnels not far from the river. Morgan loved digging around the river where the dirt was cool and moist. Cool dirt was the best kind of dirt for digging, in Morgan’s mind.

Recently, Morgan had been digging extra hard to find sticks for a new nest. The right selection of sticks would help create a nest that was big and sturdy and could last all year. Morgan had already found a few sticks in the days before. But the nest wasn't quite ready yet. More sticks and twigs were needed. So bright and early this morning, Morgan had begun the quest to find the perfect sticks to make the perfect nest.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Island Wonder” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 8:44

    Island Wonder Excerpt:
Filling the morning air with a warm glow, the sun peeked above the forest. The sun’s light filled the solar train with the energy it would need to move around the tracks all day.  The sparkling train smiled and checked its get ready list. The sparkling train’s wheels felt great, the doors were opening nice and smoothly, and its seats and floors were clean.  Yes, the train was ready for the passengers.  People lined up and waited on the platform.   The sparkling train’s doors whooshed open and the passengers filed on board eager to take their regular seats.  Once everyone was seated the train slowly eased forward to begin its route.  As it pulled out of the station the sparkling solar train noticed the waves on the sea.  The train smiled and took a deep dragon breath in and out relaxing with the waves.  The people on the train relaxed and took deep dragon breaths as well.  The sea calmed them all.  The train rolled up to the next station and noticed the sea once again.  It had never noticed that the sea was always alongside the train everywhere except the tunnel.  An idea formed in the sparkling train’s mind. And since all the passengers had exited, now the train had a break. It decided to test its idea by stopping at the airport to visit the planes.  They would know.

The sparkling train rolled up to the airplane hangar and said, “Hey Holly, Herb, Hazel, Hawk, and Harmony…Are you there?”
Today’s Meditation: Today, notice loving energy flowing through your body, from your feet up to your head.

Carrie Cardinal helps an unlikely visitor in the Ahway Island Forest.

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 4:20
    Caring Cardinal Excerpt:

It was a damp day on Ahway Island. Little raindrops slid down the big green leaves of the pretty trees. The little drops landed on some red and yellow flowers. Carrie Cardinal hopped around on the forest floor, collecting the red and yellow flowers for her nest.

Carrie loved collecting flowers for her nest inside the big oak tree. Carrie loved the red flowers the most because they matched her pretty feathers.

Carrie lived in the big oak tree near Chelsea and Abby Chipmunk. They were very good neighbors. But they liked to stay inside during rainy days.

Carrie brought the red and yellow flowers to her nest, gently placing them around the sides. She patted the flowers down with her feet, making sure she was gentle enough to not break her new decorations.

    Brave Bunny Excerpt:
Dark clouds filled the sky and wind twisted the branches of the trees.  Rain drip-dropped through the forest branches and splashed the little bunny.  Ballet shook and the water droplets flew off in all directions.  She hurriedly hopped next to a tree and checked to see where her friends were.  Carrie the Cardinal sat in the branch above her watching the sky.  The squirrels, Nutsy and Peanut, were busy in the branches above tossing an acorn back and forth.  The acorn flew over Nutsy’s head and then tumbled down below landing right in front of the little bunny.  Ballet smiled up at her friends. And nudged the acorn out where they could see it.  Peanut scampered down the tree to retrieve the acorn when a deep rumble filled the air growing louder and louder until the sound shook the trees branches.

Ballet frowned and looked up at the sky, defiantly thumping her foot three times.   The little bunny was telling the thunder to go away and also warning her friends of the oncoming storm.  Peanut wasted no time gathering the acorn and heading for the cozy pine tree.  Nutsy zipped past Ballet and Carrie flew over, singing that Ballet should come with.

It was a sunny day on Ahway Island. The wind was cool and strong, gently carrying blue birds and green leaves around Britney Love's neighborhood. Britney was sitting at the kitchen table, eating her favorite breakfast food: Waffles! Britney loved helping her dad make waffles in the morning. It always meant that the day was going to be extra special.

Today, Britney and her dad were going to the Ahway Island Animal Shelter. In their previous town, Britney’s dad had liked to volunteer at the local shelter and bring Britney along, which meant she got to look at or even carefully play with all the animals. Britney loved animals. She was always so happy to see all the gentle creatures who lived in the shelter. Today, she was even more excited than usual, because it was her first time visiting the Animal Shelter on Ahway Island.
