  • 604: Rainy Ramble: a calming meditation and story for kids
Alma Raincoat is ready to spend some fun time in the rain...but one of her buttons is missing!

    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 4:31
    Rainy Ramble Excerpt:

It was a rainy day on Ahway Island. The pretty green trees had friendly rain drops on their leaves that gently slipped onto the grass. Everyone on Ahway Island was spending a great day inside. All except Alma Raincoat who was ready to go out into the warm rain and have some fun! Alma loved playing in the rain with her owner, Britney. But today was extra special, Alma and Britney were going to visit Britney’s grandma.

Today was extra-special: Alma and Britney were going to visit Britney’s Grandma, who everyone affectionately called “Grammy.” Alma couldn’t contain her excitement. It had been quite some time since it rained on Ahway Island. Alma loved the sunshine too but the rain was always her favorite. The rain drops made funny sounds when Alma was over Britney’s shoulders. The rain also helped make all of the pretty flowers grow in the spring. Alma’s bright yellow color made it easy for everyone to see where she and Britney were. When it rained, Alma’s bright yellow made her feel like she was Ahway Island’s sunshine for the day.

  • 235. Playful Plow: a relaxing story and mindful relaxation
Sidney Snow Plow has a big day clearing snow, and still makes time to say hi to their friends!
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Playful Plow” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 7:26

    Playful Plow Excerpt:
Light slipped through the cracks in the garage door.  Sidney the snow plow could see a bit of white and wondered whether he would be going out today.  He had his answer when his driver came into the garage and brushed some big fluffy flakes off of her shoulders and hat.  “Let’s get going.” She said.  “If we start now, we should be able to keep the roads nice and clear.”  Well that answered that. The garage door rolled up and Sidney’s engine rumbled as the driver turned the key.

Sidney blinked. It was so bright.  The light reflected off the fluffy flakes as they swirled their way down to the ground.  Before the snow plow’s eyes the world was changing to white.   Sidney slowly drove out of the garage and into the falling snow.  Sidney dropped the plow and began moving the snow.  As he approached the resting snow it began to swirl around on the pavement, sensing the coming plow.

When Sidney moved the snow, he could see it flowing off to the side of the road, like it was supposed to, but he could barely feel it.  It was as if Sidney was moving air!
Today’s Meditation: Relax in the grass as you imagine sunlight warming you from head to toe.

  • 602: Park Playtime: a meditation and story for your bedtime routine
Max wants to play with his friends at the park but understands he promised to walk Zip Yorkie Dog with Grandma Tang first. By keeping his promise, he makes a new friend!

    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 4:56
    Park Playtime Excerpt:

It was a bright sunny day on Ahway Island. The birds were singing and the tree branches were blowing in the breeze. Today, Zip Yorkie Dog was going on a walk in the park with Max Tang and Grandma Tang. It was such a beautiful day outside that Grandma Tang suggested she and her grandson take Zip on his walk together. Max was very happy to spend time with his grandma and to give Zip some exercise. Max would even get to hold Zip’s leash! It was an important task to keep Zip safe. Zip trusted Max and so did Grandma Tang.

As it was such a beautiful day, there were lots of kids playing at the park. Max saw some of his neighbors and friends going on walks with their families. Max got especially excited when he saw his good friend Billy playing with his younger sister Emily. The siblings were throwing a bright red frisbee back and forth in a grassy section of the park while their dad watched from a nearby bench.

Petunia Possum is shy but wants new friends. She pretends to sleep when they are around, afraid of being rejected
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Pretending Possum” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 11:49

    Pretending Possum Excerpt:
The peaceful moon smiled down on the enchanted forest.  Petunia possum looked up at the bright sliver and smiled back.  Petunia always felt comforted by the friendly moon. It was her reliable friend in the sky.  Anytime she felt alone all the little possum had to do was look up, and she had the company of the moon and stars.  However the moon and the stars weren’t very good at conversation.  As Petunia looked up at the sky she wished she could find a friend.

The little possum felt very shy.  She really did want friends, but every time another animal came near, she would pretend to be asleep.  Petunia didn’t know why she did it, she just did.  She scurried around under the trees looking for an animal who might be a friend.  Petunia sat down under a tree and began to think, “What if they tell me to go away, or they don’t like me?” At that moment, some bunnies hopped her way.  Petunia immediately lied down and curled into a ball, pretending she was asleep.

Then dragon noticed the sleeping possum as it passed the fir tree.  Knowing that the bunnies would have been very friendly to Petunia, the dragon sighed and smiled at the possum as she opened her eyes, encouraging her to be brave.  Petunia looked into the dragon’s kind eyes and decided that she would be brave.  In fact tonight, if she saw another animal, she would make sure that she stayed awake.  No more pretending!

  • 600: The King of the Shelter: a relaxing meditation and kid’s story
It's Adoption Day at the Ahway Island Animal Shelter and Larry Iguana is grateful for his Shelter family.
    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 4:38
    King of the Shelter Excerpt:

It was a bright sunny day on Ahway Island. The wind was gently blowing, providing everyone on the island a refreshing breeze to keep them cool in the hot sun. Kids played outside and pedestrians in downtown Ahway Island greeted each other with friendly “hellos” as they walked along the streets. Larry Iguana watched the people from inside the big front window of the Ahway Island Animal Shelter. The sun peaked through the window and felt very nice on Larry’s skin as he watched the people hurry by.

Even though Larry was enjoying the sun and watching the local residents, he felt a little strange. It was Adoption Day at the Shelter, which was usually a very exciting day. But Larry had been at the Ahway Island Animal shelter for a long time already. He wondered what it would be like if someone decided to come in and adopt him. Larry did love the shelter, and Dr. Bowski always made sure he had the best food and care, but a lot of his friends had left the Shelter and found their forever homes. Larry remembered hearing the excited meows of Kit Cat when she was adopted. Larry also remembered how happy his good friend Gilbert Goldfish was when he was taken to a new home.

Dragon finds themself having a fantastic musical adventure on the beach.
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Musical Moments” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 8:15

    Musical Moments Excerpt:
The setting sun filled the dragon’s cave with a red orange glow.  The dragon smiled, enjoying the colorful sunrise.  A cool breeze sent a shiver rippling down the dragon’s spine. The dragon hurried out of the cave, eager to get to the cozy beach.  Spreading its wings, the dragon lifted up above the cool breeze.  Scanning the horizon, the dragon quickly spotted the train track and followed  it over to the beach.  As the dragon flew, it noticed the air growing warmer and warmer.

The sound of waves crashing on the shore sailed up to the the dragon’s ears.  The dragon gazed at the beach below and decided to land on the soft, smooth sand.  As the dragon landed, the cozy sand hugged the dragon’s feet.  The dragon looked around, and didn’t see any of its friends.  The warm and inviting sand enticed the dragon to snuggle in, and so the chilly dragon decided to take this moment to warm up.

Lying on its belly, the dragon dug deeper and deeper into the sand.  Before long, all that was visible of the dragon was its nose and eyes.  The giant pile of sand moved up and down as the dragon took deep breaths in and out .

  • 597: Chipmunk Challenge: a relaxing story for kids
Chelsea and Abby Chipmunk gather snacks before a storm comes. Chelsea doesn't like storms, but Abby helps her stay calm.
    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 4:58
    Chipmunk Challenge Excerpt:

It was a cloudy and windy day on Ahway Island. Tree branches swayed in the breeze as their bright green leaves tumbled and danced in the wind. Big, fluffy clouds raced through the sky. Chelsea and Abby Chipmunk were sitting in a cozy hole in the base of a large tree, watching the leaves blew by. Abby stuck her nose outside of the tree and sniffed the air. The cold air on her little nose told her that there would soon be a rainstorm passing over Ahway Island, so it was time for the two friends to get started with their chores right away.

Today, Abby and Chelsea were storing berries and nuts in their tree so they wouldn’t have to go out during the rainstorm. Abby was excited for the rainstorm. She loved watching the cool rain fall from the grey clouds onto the earth below. Rain was refreshing after a hot sunny day and the resulting puddles were always so fun to play in. And, Abby knew that the water from the rain would help more plants grow and make the Ahway Island Forest even more beautiful.

Today’s Meditation: Imagine that you are a graceful willow tree in today's meditation.

  • 232. Clean Up!: a relaxation and story for your nap time routine
After a big day of playing after school, Mike looks around his room and decides it's time to clean up!
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Clean Up” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Female

    Story Begins: 9:33

    Clean Up! Excerpt:
Mike felt ready for a break. He had just gotten back from school and had learned a lot today.  As he thought about what he could do to relax, Mike decided it was the perfect time to play with his favorite train.  He opened the door to his room and stepped over his pajamas on his way to the closet. When Mike opened the closet door to get his train he felt confused. His favorite orange engine was missing.  “Oh well,” Mike thought, “I can just use the purple engine.”   Then he picked up the case of train tracks.

The case seemed a bit light. When Mike opened it, he noticed there were tracks missing along with the tunnel and bridge.  Feeling frustrated, Mike took a deep dragon breath in and out and looked around his room.  He realized that he had let his room get pretty messy.  His blanket was balled up on his unmade bed.  There were clothes and books lying on the floor, a full laundry basket waiting to be emptied, and that was what he could see.  Mike took another deep dragon breath in and out and decided to clean his room.

Mike started with his bed.  He checked the bottom sheet, and pulled it a little tighter  so that it would be nice and smooth.  Then he straightened the messy top sheet and tucked it in.  Finally, Mike fluffed his pillows and straightened his blanket.  He looked at his bed and smiled.  It looked tidy, and he felt better seeing his bed so nice and neat.  He looked around the room and decided to tackle the clean laundry next.
Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating on a cloud, and relax into the feeling of lightness.

Sandy Seagull meets Mildred Moray Eel and tries to help her get back into her home but Sandy can't swim underwater. How will the little seagull help her new neighbor?
    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 4:50
    Eel Encounter Excerpt:

It was a bright sunny afternoon on Ahway Island. A few fluffy, white clouds dotted the brilliant blue sky. Below, the waters of Ahway Island Bay sparkled in the sunshine.

The seagulls of Ahway Island loved flying above the coral reef just outside Ahway Island Bay. In particular, Sandy Seagull loved landing gently in the shallow water around the reef, where she could lightly float to wherever the waves wanted to take her. If by chance the waves took Sandy too far, she would use her orange, webbed feet and swim back to the coral reef.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “The Gift Box” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Male

    Story Begins: 10:12

    The Gift Box Excerpt:
Sunshine flickered through the drapes and tickled the cardboard box as he rested in the living room.  The dad walked in and opened the drapes, flooding the room with light.   The little kitty resting in the cozy cardboard box purred as the sunbeam warmed his belly.  Chance loved hearing the kitty purr. The cardboard box wondered what adventure today would hold.  At that moment the dad walked over to the box and gently picked up the purring kitty.  “I need to borrow your bed.”  He said as he placed the kitty down on the couch.  Then the kids came around the corner laughing. When they saw their dad picking up the box the kids said, “Hey that’s our cardboard box!”

“I know. I just need to borrow it for today.  Then you will get it back. OK?”

“I guess so.”  The little boy said feeling disappointed.

“We can find something else to do.” The little girl said, and off they went.  Chance felt disappointed too.  He had been hoping for another adventure with the kids. “Oh well.”  The box thought, “I wonder what we’ll do now.”
