  • Unpacking Menopause

Today we are going to talk about the word that no one dares mention – menopause.

A completely natural phase in a woman’s life that has become so taboo to discuss, it is often whispered.

To top it off, Doctors are so uneducated on this process, women are left fearing they have some un-diagnosed illness or are an anomaly. How do I know? I am one of those women.

Today I am speaking with Dr. Jenn Salib Huber – a Naturopathic Doctor and Registered Dietician who is breaking down the walls on this stage every person with ovaries experiences and removing the fear, judgement and imaging society has put on us.  Her course has empowered me and she has the answers you seek. You can reach Jenn at https://www.jennsalibhuber.ca/ @menopause.nutrtionist on Instagram and @DrJennND on Facebook

  • Signs

On January 3, 2020 my Mom became ill with an unknown virus that we now know as Covid. 40 days later she was gone from this earth. In less than two months my Best Friend, safety net and the one person I would go to to get through the trauma had vanished.

A beloved friend suggested I read the book “Signs” by Laura Lynne Jackson – saying it gave her comfort. So I did.

The book became my compass, helping me bridge the gap between Earth and the Ethers where my Mom now resides. In many ways I feel closer to her than ever before.

It is my absolute honor to be speaking with Laura Lynne Jackson today on her work to help us all navigate grief and establish a connection with our loved ones who have passed. She is not just a best-selling Author and Medium with a Netflix series - but a teacher – giving us all the tools to heal the losses we never thought we could. www.http://lauralynnejackson.com

  • Getting Climate Education in our Schools

Over 73% of US residents polled believe in climate change. The Climate is changing. We know it, our kids know it, and it is something both Republicans and Democrats can agree on.

So why is it not being taught in our schools?

My next guest, New York State Senator Andrew Gounardes is out to change that for NY.

His proposed Bill S1081 would mandate a comprehensive climate change curriculum in all public schools from K through 8 for New York State.

Today he joins us to talk about what inspired him to create this piece of legislation and how we can help him to get this passed and inspire other states to do this.

  • The Algae Alchemist

Ryan Hunt is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Algix – a company that finds and creates new technologies for industries that are known for their harmful practices. I met Ryan on Instagram in a discussion for one such innovation – a product he created called Bloom.

Bloom is a foam made from the excess algae we have in our waters. While natural – too much algae tips the ecosystem – causing water to become toxic. As we use more and more pesticides in our farming, which increases algae blooms – it is a major problem.

Ryan – who is also a Bio and agricultural engineer – discovered that algae plasticizes over time – creating a foam.  A decade later this technology can be found in your sneakers, your kid’s natives and even surfboards.

In this episode we discuss all things algae and learn more about how he and the team of Algix are being the change.

  • What it Means to be a Public Servant

What do you do when you see your community with no representation in the government? If you are New York State Assembly-member Yuh-Line Niou – you run for office.

While she may say she never intended to be an elected official – Assembly-member Niou was destined for her career, starting in her teens as an advocate and now the first-elected Asian American to represent her district. She walks the walk as a public servant. Which may be why you have not heard her name – she is too busy working on behalf of her constituents instead of climbing the political ladder.

If you are wondering how you can be the change in your own community, running for office or how to get laws passed, this episode is for you.  https://www.nioufornewyork.com/
