Today is a doosey. Forgiveness. What the world needs now. The critical ingredient in all ongoing relationships: friendships, marriage, church, and of course our position with God. Yikes and double-Yikes. Luke 11: 4
Think with me today about how the Lord teaches us to position ourselves; to view ourselves and to speak about ourselves.
Practically we will end with a little exercise in helping us view ourselves in a new way, "I OWE YOU".
Give us this day our daily bread. Give me what I need for this day, no matter what it is. Give me the strength and courage and wisdom and food and provision and patience and forgiveness sufficient for the day.
Today we will remember some heroes of the faith that faced the biggest of big days. We will highlight Jerome of Prague who had 15 months to think about whether he wanted to get burned at the stake for associating with Christ. At first he recanted Jesus. Then, with his "daily bread" Jerome recanted his previous recantation, stood with Christ, and was burned at the stake in 1415. I love this story because of its imperfection. Very real. Listen:
Give us today our daily bread,
and discipline for today,
and kindness for today,
and obedience for today,
and wisdom for today,
and correction for today,
and ministry for today,
and love for today.
You get the picture. We ask today because we are going to need it today. May we keep short accounts with God, and He with us. That's the Leash part
We awaken to a world that is disordered. To a heart that yields to the wrong thing. To hands that put themselves at odds with the Lord. He knows all of that and has taught us a way out.
Join me as I lead our viral community asking the Lord that the borders of His Kingdom would expand over things He brings to our minds.
On the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, Jesus claims the OT for Himself. He says that all the shadows point to Himself, and that "You can do better!". In Luke 24, we find out how much of the Old testament is "Red-Lettered".
Q: What % of your bible is "red-Lettered"?
A: _ _ _ of it.
We actually Get to Emmaus today and the Two followers of Jesus actually recognize them.
We get a conclusion to the rebuke of Jesus in basically: "You can do BETTER". You can do better with the Scriptures. You can not just Have the Scriptures, but consider them with Soul-In-Chair time.
Still on the Road to Emmaus. We are exploring Jane Day's comment from yesterday a bit more.
Jesus rebukes but then explains, clarifies and makes understandable the Old Testament. It was about Himself!. Jesus is the subject of the Old Testament. This was a "sermon" that I'd like to hear someday.
In the meantime, this PODCAST thought will just have to do.
Despite a whole lot of current information about Jesus' resurrection, the women, the angels, the disciples, this is NOT the reason for Jesus' rebuke. This, on Easter Sunday, we find two in the know kind of guys rebuked for being SLOW of Heart.
Listen and hear about two guys who are Sad on Easter Sunday, despite hearing every inch of the great news from the tomb. Luke 24:13
Holy Saturday. We will look at the moments just after Jesus' death while still on Golgatha. As so often in scripture: the most unexpected response from the most unexpected person.
