It is "good" Friday.
But what is the bad news? Why SO MUCH suffering? Couldn't there be just a medium amount?
What is so grievously important that it cannot be overlooked. Listen to the most grievous PODCAST of the year.
We are all POOR COMERS to this day. It is so very difficult to call oneself a Christian on this day.
Q: What will you do about your sin?
A: Good Friday. (ouch)
There is more action, teaching and trauma in this 24 period than any other that I can think of. Nothing like it has ever happened in human history. Jack Bauer has NOTHING on the next 24 hours of Jesus.
In all of this, Jesus stopped me in my tracks with a statement given to his sorrowful disciples. Listen and find out what it was.
The Big Gulp. Cocking the Trigger. Weds. Mt26:1
Today is Wednesday of the Great Week. Jesus' last "normal" day. His last sleep. Everything is getting ready. The Disciples are warned that a crucifixion is coming. Judas gets his betrayal ready. The Jewish leaders finalize their plan.
There is no blood...but it is coming
there is no betrayal...but it is coming
There is no crucifixion...but it is coming
In all these things, the trigger is pulled back in readiness. As an observer to the story my response is the BIG GULP of guilt, of sin, of sorrow, and cringing.
Listen as your knuckleheaded teacher tries to summarize a day that is known as Great and Holy Tuesday because of Jesus' extensive teaching. On this day of the Great Week there are 5 ½ chapters in Matthew, and 3 in Mark.
This passage in Mark 12 is a treasure. We find a knowledgable yet teachable man who tells Jesus "You're RIGHT" and then goes a little bit further as you can see the Holy Spirit rattling around inside his head and heart. Jesus then assesses him: "You are NOT FAR from the kingdom!" What a story.
The GREAT WEEK has started. We will catch up today to MONDAY as we follow the places and the times of the great teaching, from the Greatest Teacher, of the GREATEST WEEK of human history. Our official Scripture is from John 12:20.
We find a unique moment where Jesus has a verbal word from the Father as he looks toward some suffering that is ahead. Perhaps there is a thought applicable for us as we face this pandemic. Listen and follow Jesus on His Great Week. Listen and follow Jesus on OUR Great Week.
How'd you do watching for the HONOR of Jesus' name yesterday?
Today we address the lack and LONGING for FATHER, just like the great new movie ONWARD by Pixar/Disney. The ½ father concept is a hilarious sight gag that the movie exploits wonderfully. Available on Disney + and Apple.
Also we catch God's heart about DOING THIS TOGETHER from the context of our class verse from Hebrews 10:24-25. So very encouraging. Listen and see if you think so!
This is some great stuff given to us from the mouth of Jesus.
Yes, you probably don't know everything about being a good pray-er. So, that just means you are in good company. Listen as Jesus helps us out!
Join us as we look at Romans 12. Plus 5 random quarantine thoughts.
God still is on the throne, He still gives gifts to and for His Church.
How do we use these COMMON GOOD gifts when we are in isolation mostly?
We're PRAYING today. Completely different recording
We are doing something completely different today. Please participate as you listen today. We will be entering into some “guided prayer”. In this time of crisis we will be spreading our concerns before the Lord like Hezekiah did in to Kings 19:14
join me! I know you have concerns. Let’s spread them before the Lord together
Today’s message is a triangulation of the Luke chapter 7 story about the sinful woman and the resisting Pharisee with a verse from Luke 20:18. “Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, and when it falls on anyone it will crush him“.Join us as we see that scripture often best explains itself.Coming to the Lord is a messy process. yes it is “falling on the stone of Jesus”. But Scripture also describes it as “being broken to pieces” at best. Maybe we should ask people tell us your broken to pieces story…
