When you come to the Lord, what exactly are you seeking? Is it some transactional encounter? A Political savior? An acknowledgment of a Creator? Of each of us, Jesus asks one of the great questions of Scripture: What are you seeking?

Without the new name of God in today's passage, you could NEVER stand before God as anything other than JUDGED. This name makes ACCESS to God in other ways possible.  It makes friendship, and intimacy possible.

If the Bible is true, you, yes you can be greater than the greatest man that ever lived.  Jesus identified this person as John the Baptist.  It is quite a title, yet, if we get adopted into God's heavenly family we get untold greatness. What we get from being in God's family makes us greater than the greatest man that ever lived. It staggers the imagination as to what it is like in such a family.

If you wanna know God, you gotta know Jesus.  Any sincere exploration of God must come through Jesus. It is Jesus that most completely makes God known. Most soberingly, no one comes to the Father except through Jesus.  God went to great trouble to make Jesus known so that Jesus could make the Father known.  Join me in a daily, 7 minute exploration of God who Jesus is making known.

The Lord just knew we were in trouble and needed some outside help. So, He becomes a willing servant to humanity by becoming a willing human servant. The Word becomes flesh and dwelt among us.

The Lord tells us how many dawns He's been at work before it dawns on us to receive Him. He reminds us that He's been at work "Before the ages began". He started working on the project of our belief before the foundation of the world. This is truly mind blowing.

In light of these many many dawns, perhaps we should consider letting these truths dawn on us.

Many people have a watershed Bible verse. Mine is John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. It dawned on me one afternoon that though I was nominally "religious", I had never personally received Him; never believed in His name. Shocker! I thought I was born into religion. OOPS.

Perhaps you too have a salvation verse, that God won't let you let go of. If not, consider mine. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the rightto become children of God.

Everybody you know has PHYSICAL life.
Everybody you know has an UNDYING, ongoing, life. In a sense, because we are made for forever we never really  die. At our "death" we just move instantly to the next life.
NOT Everybody you know has what the Bible calls Eternal Life.
