Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

It has been said that the Gospel of John is God's love letter to the world.  He starts strong with the main thing: Jesus is God. Jesus is Creator. Jesus was there before there was a beginning. It is not our last day in considering these truths. These are foundational. Billions of people have gotten these foundational truths wrong, so let's be careful. The love letter of John starts with the greatest Love expresser of all time: Jesus Himself. Welcome to the Gospel of John

This is my last podcast. This is my last podcast at least in Genesis. Perhaps the Lord will give me another day to start the next book that opens with, "In the beginning..." I hope so. (Spoiler alert: the Gospel of JOHN!)

I'm a little sad to leave these great characters of Genesis. Some have been good examples.  Some have only been good examples of how to be a bad example. 

It has been a great joy and privilege to walk these days of discovery with you in Genesis.  I treasure you being WITH ME, as we have sought to BE WITH HIM.

You gotta love the REALITY of the Bible. There you will find REAL people making REAL choices. Bad news: Not everybody chooses wisely.  Not everyone who has "a come to Jesus moment" actually does come to Jesus.  In fact, some move away.

And Genesis asks "What about bad circumstance? What about being in situations I do not prefer? Are you the God of the PIT?" Watch for 7 minutes as we remember some real people making real choices in real circumstances.

Humor me as I identify a few non-negotiable of life as suggested in Genesis. These are the "Must-Dos" of life:

1. You must start a relationship with God.  Actually, He leans in, He invites, and He makes it possible.
2. You must believe that what God says of Himself is true. We are sinful, and He's made a way out by faith is a good place to start
3. You must expect trouble. Your faith will occasionally seem unbearable, Unreasonable, and even impossible sometimes. (Weirsby)
4. You must expect HELP. He sees. He visits. He Helps.

Genesis is a book of GREATS. Great people. Great problems. Great God. Great Creation. 

Today we'll summarize some great people, great inventions, and great problems. My favorite from today is a great RESCUE that is necessary. We need to know this because it was OUR PEOPLE that got rescued.  Everyone reading this comes from a RESCUED PEOPLE. We'd best incline our attention for 7 minutes.

Genesis has a lot to say about human sexuality. God invented it and made a place for it.  Genesis also talks about disordered sexuality: assault, adultery, polygamy, abortion, and sexual deviance. Ironically, it is often mis-ordered sexuality that drives us to our knees and to His kingdom. Everything you need to know about sex is in the book of Genesis.  Watch 7 minutes.

A single book shapes our understanding of EVIL; of MARRIAGE; of the FALL; and of the CHURCH.  Genesis has a lot to say about the most important of topics.  Genesis boxes way above its weight class. We ignore it at our peril. Watch 7 minutes to get started.

A TIME is made for us. A PLACE is made for us. A JOB is made for us. Finally, US is made. There is much for us to do as we are under the abilities, the limitations and purview given by God. His attention is everywhere, even in our rocky intentions.

Joseph, before his death promises his family that "God will visit you". We too are so fortunate to receive the visitation of God.  Jesus says the sending of His Holy Spirit is going to be soooo good that it is "to your advantage" that I Go.  ie: it is BETTER if I go so the Spirit can be sent visiting.

Jesus says , "I've Got something better. My leaving will be surpassed by something. Actually it is a Someone. 

The Spirit of Jesus is “Better than Jesus” says Jesus Himself.
